  13. Have not been updating this blog for a LONG LONG time. Busy with work, holidays etc. Hacking for my unit already completed. Leveling and waterproofing also done. Rewiring and tiling now in progress. There are some areas where new walls need to be erected and that is also underway.... photos coming up...
  14. If you're going for open concept, are you brave enough to go without a hood. I personally don't use one and don't intend to use one in my new home as well. Honestly, I feel hoods are overrated. Naturally ventilate your kitchen and clean your kitchen regularly. By cleaning I mean mop the floors, wipe the grease off the cabinets. Do it once a week is enough or once in 2 weeks. Look at it this way, if you don't want to clean your kitchen frequently like I suggested, you still have to clean and maintain your hood if you decide to get one. And cleaning the hood is NOT pleasant. Grimes and grease that have stayed there for weeks or months depending on how often you clean them. So just consider it. Ask you ID or contractor for their views. There are more and more people I know who have gone without hoods. Just my 2 cents worth...
  15. Personally, I would take Sealy but that's only becoz I'm using Sealy. Mattress is a good place to invest. When you get home after a long day at work, you will feel that the money is well spent. The Sealys, Simmons and Sertas can last really long so it's a good investment.
  16. hi Apple1, Nicely done up. And I feel that your t-blog title is very apt coz I think your place has that cozy and warm touch to it. A great place for a family to bond together...
  17. hi Ilki, I really like your ideas. I think you and me have almost the same thinking, that is to have everything designed in a way where practicality should be the top priority. For example, to omit the feature wall of the TV makes sense. Getting a nice TV console would suffice. Features walls are fixed and in case you decide to flip your TV with your sofa, the feature wall will be a huge factor. All the best.
  18. Hi AlezDrake75, May I ask which floor is your unit at? Is your unit well ventilated as in, do you get open space or obstructions outside your window, especially the kitchen...? And if it's open space, is the open space an empty lot of land or some parks, carpark or low-rise structures..?
  19. As for furnitures, my wife and I are lovers of teakwood furniture. They are beautiful, never gets out of style, easy to maintain and can last a really long time. We previously bought our dining table with chairs from this place (http://www.woodfarmlifestyle.com/) located at Dempsey. They do Burmese and Indon teak and you can choose either. I was happy with the custom made dining table I got and so, I decided to go back to them and custom order my other furnitures for the new place. As the furnitures are custom-made, they aren't ready yet so I only have photos of the drawings to share with you guys. Here are my furnitures... TV console & media console Sofa Daybed Coffee Table Bedside table Stool (near shoe cabinet for us to sit when putting on shoes) I will share the photos of the actual furnitures once they're ready. If any of you would like contacts for Wood Farm, let me know. The people are friendly and reasonable.

  21. We actually wanted to keep our current top load washer from F&P and just purchase a new dryer. Unfortunately, the height limitations will only allow a space of 20cm between my washer and wall-hung dryer. With that small space, we won't be able to open the top load washer lid fully making it an impractical move. So we had no choice but to switch to a front load washer and dryer which will be stacked. I went online to do my research. Visited the various electrical departmental stores and asked around. Ended up investing on a Miele. From what I gathered, its a masterpiece though. Worth the money invested and some have owned a Miele for 10 to 20 years w/o any breakdown. I've read somewhere that someone else's Miele even lasted him for 40 years. If mine can last for 15 years, I'll be happy already. The model I got was this one... http://www.webshop.miele.sg/products-page/laundry-care/w-5872 http://www.webshop.miele.sg/products-page/laundry-care/t-8866-wp-flacon Their price has always been controlled so discounts are had to come by. There were having a promotion for these as a set and it cost me just under $6K with extended warranty (1+4 years).
