  1. 1 Dec 2012 - Day 19 Tiling works were completed when I visited the unit on 1 Dec. Feels rather slow on my end. Common bathroom Kitchen walls MBR shower area
  2. 22 Nov 2012 - Day 9 Nothing much is done except that the new casement windows are up (pics taken from hubs phone). Pardon the dark photos as electricity is not up yet.
  3. 18 Nov 2012 - Day 5 I see sand in the house...... All the existing door frames are gone The bathroom's stripped
  4. Hi, I used an ID and the quote is not on the cheap side I think.... you still keen I can give you.

  5. Yea Princessathene, dark tiles make the bathroom dark too. I, too, compromised on greyish tiles for the other wall. Had a beige/cream bathroom in my former house and the cleaning was crazy, esp at the grout lines. So I decided to take a risk and see if dark tiles work better
  6. I chose All Best. My former house was done by them and the air-con did not give any problem for 5 years
  7. Oops I just saw that you are aiming to shift in by Christmas!
  8. Haha I'm nice one ok...I've done all my tiles and laminates selection, bathroom accessories and lightings shopping way beforehand. I was pushing her real hard in October though, just in case I go and deliver early, which was what happened! All the best to yours too! Let's hope no conflict of interest! I'm looking at mid January, which I have told her when I looked her up in August. When are you looking at to complete?
  9. Hacking is underway! ID said that the tiler is busy this week and no tiling work is done yet, though my tiles have arrived.
  10. It's been a long break (while waiting for handover of keys) and I've gone to deliver on 4 November. Now's the 3rd week of confinement and I've finally found some time to update on the renovation progress. Here's some photos of the house in its original condition (photos taken by hubs phone camera)...... Living room Living room (another view) MBR MBR toilet Common toilet
  11. Hello! We have the same common bathroom tile (the one on the right-hand side), and we chose the same design (the squarish cube pattern) for our MBR bathroom, except that you chose white and mine is silver! Almost chose the same kitchen wall tile as you too! Haha, how coincidental!
  12. Nope, not yet...waiting patiently for handover...in mid Nov...still looonnngggg to go LOL.

  13. Hi dottyness, Congrats on your 3-mth old baby now! Can you PM me your electrician's contact if you think he is still good? I engaged an ID but am contemplating not using the ID's electrician (since it's outsourced anyway). Like you, I'm now 35 weeks plus pregnant and rushing to get everything settled before I deliver since renovation will likely start at my 38th week. Thanks a lot!
  14. Tiles Selection Went for tiles selection at Lian Seng Hin and Hafary. We only need to choose the floor tile for our kitchen and wall tile for the washing area, and tiles for both bathrooms. For our kitchen For our common bathroom The hubby and ID advised against dark tiles for our MBR toilet, but yours truly the queen wanted her way, and got it We finally settled on the vinyl floor design - took a while as the supplier couldn't show us anything close; either the colour was off or the grain wasn't irregular enough. Hope the actual piece of plank won't disappoint when it all comes together.
  15. Hi,

Can pass me your electrician's contact as well? Thanks!

  16. Where did you get Crestar fans and how much you mind me asking?

  18. REVISED ID DRAWINGS (DRAFT 2) Kitchen (Wet) More of less what I want except for floor tiles to be more towards blackish grey, and T5 lightings for backsplash rather than downlights Kitchen (Dry) Gonna input lightings at the backsplash Living Room Wanted light wood laminate for TV feature and shoe cabinet but ID did dark wood laminate MBR Now I can't decide whether version 1 or this is better. Any suggestion? Wanted a cozy theme for our MBR.
  19. Hi Vicenzo, my hubby has this current pair of JBL TLX 320 speakers with 4 ohms bought many many years ago, and a Pioneer SX-SWR1 Subwoofer cum AVR. Are these both still worthy to be kept?
  20. Hi, I'm looking at entry level HTS too, budget $1500. Do you have any recommendation for movies viewing and occasional songs listening? What kind of speakers (say 5.1) receiver, and subwoofer can I go for with this budget?

Please pardon my layman lack of understanding as I am trying to give a little surprise to my hubby, who will love a simple HTS.

  21. Actually I only saw the "no photography" sign on the wall. Since I paid for the stuff I should just tell them I wanna take some pictures right? Silly me never think of it, just wanted to get it over and done with and rush home to see my boy. You have a point! But, 2 rainshower sets with mixer already add up to $700 plus, is $3K too expensive? We bought towel hanging bars, bidet sprays, toilet roll holders all in...I thought it was reasonable as we didn't go for the real expensive fixtures...
  22. Over the weekend, we bought our oven and washer in the matter of an hour! We went to Courts and Best Denki, but were turned off by the fact that most of their promotion items could only be held in warehouse for a month !! Disappointed, we went to Harvey Norman to be greeted by a salesman who assured us they can deliver up to 6 months later. Without hesitation, we bought from HN. Opted for a basic oven because I hardly bake, but still want an oven! Our 2nd washer - this one's for washing children's clothes only, because missus here is fussy Yesterday, I smsed our ID on short notice that we would like to get our bathroom accessories shopping done. She was so flexible to rearrange her schedule to bring us to the shop. Quite happy with her promptness in reacting. The damage came up to $3,000 but I wasn't allowed to take pictures. We bought our wash basins, taps, kitchen sink, wc and bathroom accessories in 1 & 1/2 hour, was that fast or slow? I was reeling over from the shock of the $3K bill, and aborted the idea of my Hansgrohe rainshower for a normal range one, but normal rainshowers don't come cheap too Nevertheless must appreciate hubby who allowed me to have rainshowers for both bathrooms Quoted $260 for 35L Joven storage heater
  23. Hi Jerome, Can you quote me for the following: Bosch Oven 331E2J Samsung Washer WF8692 Joven Storage Heater - 15L or 30L better for 10 mins shower for a household of 2 pax? Can quote me? KDK wall fans - please quote me a range of white colour series Thanks!
  24. Luciusteo, hee I probably didn't make myself clear. The space planning is according to my specifications My citeria: Kitchen - No open concept kitchen, no L-shaped dishwashing area, fully-cabineted as much as possible (hubby's territory) Living room - A minimum of 3m distance from TV to sofa (both hubby and I have perfect eyesight and gonna make our children follow that discipline), and the centre of the living room cannot be blocked with furnitures (for gatherings which we often have) Dining area - No eating and watching TV at the same time - my weird household rule. I guess that will change as the kids grow up but I am planning to cultivate that habit for now My ideal theme is a blend of wood and white as much as I can, but I can incorporate black (for eg. my sofa) because of practical reasons. Understand that our concepts are not typical of most
