I am looking out for this kinda wooden bead curtain here but it is not the pattern that I am looking for I remember my old house used to put this kind of bead curtain at the archway from the living room to the kitchen.. it was very nice.. 11. my ID came and see my clogged drain. He dug up alot of sand and large amt of small stylofoam pieces... he said most likely HDB workers left it there when they're doing up the house, cos his workers did not use stylofoam at all. If it is still not cleared.. we have to go to the unit below us to disconnect the drainage pipe and clear the choked portion!!
  12. Carpentery finally started!! the workers are fast... walk-in wardrobe oreadi completed... kitchen cabinet 70% done.. feature wall at bomb shelter 60%.. nuttin at study room yet.. finally going to buy all the things that I was eyeing for from ikea tomolo! yep yep~
  13. water based sealer smells better.. its easier to apply and clean up in case some got onto your floor.. but the coverage is not as good as oil based. Water based indicates it is soluble in water, meaning that u can use water to clean your spills and your brushes. Likewise, oil based indicates it is oil-soluble. U have to use thinner to clear your spills. My hubby and I used oil based sealer initially.. but the smell was and it was very messy.. den after that we went to buy water base instead. I was surprised that water-based paint actually smells quite pleasant!! after DIY painting my own EA.. I've realised its not easy to do painting.. and it very very difficult to have nice straight paint lines at edge of walls.. i tried so many times but it cant be perfect. Had tried using masking tape but the line i get has botches of paint cos some paint can still seep into the masking tape and some of the paint got peeled off after we took the tape off..
  14. we DIY the painting for our EA.. spent less than $400 for the paints, brushes, rollers, masking tapes and plastic sheets. It was quite an effort and time consuming cos we got alot of walls to paint.. however, after the task was done.. its really very satisfying to look at the end result.. of cos, there are some imperfections here and there, but we can accept it cos we realised its not easy to paint the walls.. some advice for u to consider: 1. use a small spade to ensure that the wall is smooth then use a feather duster to remove the dust. 2. place masking tape at your skirting as Paint can smear onto it when u r painting the bottom end of the wall. 3. get an angled brush.. ask for the brush that can paint corners when u r at the hardware store. That brush is very very helpful when u r painting corners.. esp the one between the wall and ceiling. It ensures straight line at the top of the wall 4. use the smallest roller to ensure that the paint is even. Had tried a bigger roller, though it was faster but the paint effect was uneven.. we had to use the small roller to touch up again and again 5. if u wan to save time, avoid using bright, strong colours. We did 4-5 coats on our red, yellow, green, blue and chocolate walls!!! The off-white walls only took us 2 coats!! 6. Last but not least, get many many manpower!!! My father, hubby and I took over 2 weeks to complete the main walls.. still left abit to touch up after the carpentery.. if we were to paint the ceiling, I think we would take longer time to complete
