Btw, what's behind your sunk? Saw that your washing machine is opposite the stove area.. It's just for the chute area? Thanks for sharing all your pics especially your utility room pic - helpful in giving me ideas on how to organize stuff! Which supplier did you go with for store room shelves?

Hello again, your place looks really nice and homely now!! Congrats! Especially like ur taobao buys and your wood top kitchen. You unpack and move in faster than me eh, I still have boxes everywhere even though my Reno completed first haha I'm now scrambling like mad before CNY.

ooh you got the maskros! ! ! love it, especially the photo inspiration and how all the scandinavian houses seem to have made use of it. especially like the patterns on the wall when you switch it on! was really considering getting it for my place, but it wouldn't fit plus i was quite afraid of cleaning the dust... haha. i think if you give it a good shake out the window every now and then, should be ok ba. lol. love the wood + maskros idea. can't wait to see how it turns out too. (: we've also been spending the past few weeks assembling ikea furniture.. still got 2 mother bookcases to go.

hey, they used a waterproof paint. not sure of the specifics actually

hi! will try to take more pics when i can - a bit hectic now (: yup i partitioned off part of the living room for the walk in wardrobe. it's a partition wall - can't drill stuff into it, not hollow block. can see the layout from the floorplan in one of my initial posts! wow yes mbr toilet was tiny - can only put 2 of 3 things (shower, toilet bowl, sink)!!! the wall with the window is where the initial toilet wall was. we hacked the wall and built an 'L' shape wall with a new door frame. muuuuch better now. hmm no we re-did the toilets entirely - original tiles were too old and grimy. the mbr toilet tiles are large rectangular tiles - 30 x 60 (i think) and the common toilet we used subway tiles. we chose glossy tiles - they reflect light and make the toilet bigger! mbr toilet is semi-matt though. thanks! white toilets were something i really insisted on (even though contractor kept saying it's hard to maintain) cos the space is small and we wanted it to look larger

Hi! The terrazzo was actually from the original Hdb flat! We just had it polished and it looks brand new. Love how it's cool beneath your feet on cold days and the retro look. I think an huat sells terrazzo though, I saw some when I was there. Don't think you should match wood kitchen cabinets with terrazzo floors though. I was quite Intentional about keeping the texture of the kitchen floors 'flat' cos I was a bit concerned about clashing patterns - cos the terrazzo is already quite patterned and could clash if your wood grain is too distracting. We got the track light holders from lights n lights at balestier. I'm trying to sell 2 holders cos they're brighter than I anticipated, let me know if you are interested!

Haven't had time to update in a long while. Our reno is complete, now busy moving and arranging for furniture to arrive. really in love with the terazzo floors. in the end, couldn't get the cement tiles so we opted for wood tile strips. kitchen:

Hi all, we bought these E27 holder track lights for our kitchen - and realised we may have bought too many holders cos it's actually quite bright! going to let go of 2 holders - they are enough for a 1m track and would probably be sufficient to light a room. comes with energy saving 'tornado' e27 bulbs in cool white. we searched high & low for these E27 holder track lights - they are not the usual halogen spotlights or LED spotlights which are glaring and directed task lights - but provide ambient light because of the E27 bulbs, and you can just change the E27 bulbs cheaply. they are WHITE - and exactly like the pic below but in a smaller size. Width is about 7-10 cm. In the pic below the holder is the bigger version and it has a PAR38 bulb but mine comes with energy saving e27 bulbs please PM me if interested thanks!

Lol I've saved that photo with the pink smegg fridge to my pinterest board - love it! Thats exactly what i did - went with grey tiles and wood cabinets on the bottom, white glossy on top with white subway tile backsplash and white solid top. Really had a hard time making a decision and was still changing my mind even till the day my contractor ordered the cabinets!! Lol. Will post when my cabinets are up later this week, fingers crossed it turns out nice.. Initially chose tiles that resemble concrete screed but later changed my mind again and went with a Matt, flat light grey tile. If your walls are white I don't think it'll be too dark. I wouldn't suggest wood tile + wood bottom cabinets though. If you want to go with the wood tiles, I think you should keep to all white cabinets.. And maybe go with a wood top? Or wood laminate frame + white doors (what I initially was going to go with)

Where's your dining table going to be? Curious cos I'm also a 3 roomer with the same long long layout
-
Didn't plaster the top half walls at all - previous owner had half height hence we decided to save money and retain the half height. Have decided to ignore it - it doesn't seem to bother my hubby. Yah make sure your contractor doesn't leave the "ledge", if you are plastering the top also it shouldnt be a problem.
-
The tiles were apparently quite thick so there is a good 1 inch "ledge" where the tiles end and the wall begins. Contractor says can't do anything about it... Really feel quite sad now for trying to save that little bit of $$
-
Hi retchlow, they charge per piece, it's $3.50. The tiles are actually quite snall - 4 pieces of the tiles make up each design. Plus they will charge you 50cents per piece for sealant so it's 4 bucks per tile.. Think that comes up to more than ten bucks psf! Quite steep eh
-
Found a pic of the floor at carpenter and cook using the tiles - super love! Maybe I should just go ahead with it and use mismatched tiles, so pretty
-
Hi minchul thanks will go check it out later! Did you go ahead with the tiles in the end? If not what did you get instead?
-
on the cement patterned tiles - anyone has used them for floors? my contractor just called me up to say that they stongly recommend i don't proceed with the tiles as she thinks they will fade and chip easily when used on the floor. she said when used for wall the problem is not so pronounced... anyone has had any experience with this?
-
will take more this weekend! lights not up yet and only time we can go is after the sun goes down.. so photos have been hard lol hi elaine *waves* (:
-
Hehe I chose bottom left tiles!! Super excited too (: was eyeing those when I saw on your tblog and when I went down, didn't find anything I liked more. You know I just saw the cement patterned tiles that day at mbs food court! It was on the wall and the floor was some terrazzo looking tile - a bit of affirmation. Heh. Also really love your home and the cozy feel (: intend to do a lot of handmade stuff for my place too... For my wedding hubby had to stop me from trying to DIY everything haha
-
Had the leveling floors issue too. It caused us super a lot of stress... Tried everything. In the end have to make do with the drop. Also did half wall height toilet tiles! But now it's one major regret for me. You going to paint the wall a different colour?
-
We went to choose tiles for the area that used to be the storeroom over the weekend. Had no time to post earlier! We're going to get something different because we wanted it to act as a divider and to add some colour. Found this shop (an huat trading) from previous renotalk threads (thanks ValerieLow) and thought the tiles were perfect! Not cheap though. And guess what they also had: Terrazzo! They said they were the only shop in sg with terrazzo still. So now we know where to find it unfortunately they didn't have the same terrazzo as my house. Can't wait to see how my tiles turn out! Hope it won't be toooo mismatched. I'm second guessing a lot of my choices with regards to the house. We also bought fans, lights and electrical appliances. Very fruitful trip
-
eeps thanks for the headsup. 1000 is really very . just saw your sofa and love its new look... maybe for our next place we consider? haha i think i have itchy fingers, just want to DIY/customise everything

Wow bro if that happened to us we will also be super angry. I totally agree sigh and can't stand it how all their rules are all discretionary - depends on officer you get looking at your case. Thanks! We went through the usual stages - anger/angst > depressed > resigned. Now just resigned to it lol and working around things - hope its smooth sailing from now on!
