  1. Thanks. Most likely I will just let them hang like that. Letting them drape means like an octopus look? I think that looks nice too but need more bulbs than 7 bulbs for that?
  2. and i bought these for my dining. For the second portion of my long living room, I only have one light above the dining and another spotlight which couldn't be counted much for lighting up the space. Hopefully the shape of the shade will diffuse the light more than creating a focused spot. I would love a PH5, which seems to illuminate both the ceiling and downwards, if only I could afford...
  3. Inspiring kitchen! Do you know the source? I like these so much that I'm thinking of using black laminates for my kitchen cabinet. and the layout is so similar to mine that when I showed the pic to my contractor, he thought I have a friend who live around the same area as me who did these.
  4. Oh, the same thought crossed my mind too. I saw something else similar shape, but more plain fabric. Also wondered how to clean it. Oh, that's a good deal. I've been thinking of going down Lorgan but perpetually couldn't find time to go down.
  5. One told me 6 weeks, then when I was around that area again, I popped by to just confirm on when it will be in stock and this time, another staff told me not sure, hard to say. Anyway, they confirmed it will not be in by next week, which is when the electrician is coming to install the lights. The PH5 is really nice. Envy. But couldn't afford that, so I bought simpler stuff like these feel free to drop by my t-blog with your comments. cheers originalbread
  6. Confirmed with my contractor, 140w is too bright. Went down to the shop to change to 11w each bulb. Wattage reduced by almost half to 77w. Think this should work better.
  7. Hi Kenjo Not sure about the big one but the smaller one is out of stock and I do find the smaller one more suitable for my small mbr. Which size did u use? Btw, the ph5 light looks really nice. Is it from chan huat too? I thot one of ur pics look like Light+form concept shop. Must be at least $300+?
  8. Nice! May I know where u get ur mbr round lights? I saw at Chan Huat but they say no stock. n I need the lights by next week.
  9. Nice! I also have the same feeling, hard to find nice lights. Do you mean the round drum like lights are from Ikea or the one with the cord? I thought of getting something like your round light for MBR. Yours Lorgan lights look very nice! Could you share what is the pricing like?
  10. My contractor quoted me $1050 for a 5 feet top and bottom (very simple top) TV cabinet and a full height shoe cabinet, and $800 without the shoe cabinet. Doesn't sound that ex when compared to Ikea, considering the quality and also less customisation. But then I decided to get something retro, so not going with the contractor's offer.
  11. No nice photos to show for the house yet. The wiring all done. Tiling completed. Also got the carpentry drawings out of the way. But its coming to 6 weeks! I bought some lights over the weekend. No money to buy this: (image from Pomelo Home) So when I saw this at Light+form concept, I instantly fell for it: Not as nice as Pomelo Home but I got to buy something more affordable after spending a bomb on renovation... This is meant for living room. I like the industrial look, 7 bulbs at 20W each. Sure bright enough. Double confirmed with shop that it is energy saving. As I do not have any false ceiling or cove light or lights installed on fan, thought this would be good for the front part of the long living hall. But a friend thought I crazy, 140W for a living room, sure bright till can't open eyes. What do you all think? Maybe I should change before collection? Got this for study, similar design but 3 bulbs and I chose white light. I also requested for black holder and code. I've got almost all the lights except for master bedroom, a wall light for hanging art and a desk lamp for dressing table. I was thinking of getting a floor lamp too beside the sofa so that I could read when sitting under the fan without lights. But perhaps my friend is right, 140W is already an overkill. Jialat, always so undecisive. Should I go change that living room light?
  12. Yes, I meant that rug. Thanks, will go Aussino, and also get some bedsheets, after things are more settled. Yes, I can see he is really good at it, from the few houses I saw on renotalk done by him. Looks designer standard.
  13. Nice! Especially the view when you get in. The blue rug has a nice shade. Can share where u buy n how much? Its great that it turned out like what u visualized. I'm v bad with that. I had many sleepless nites choosing materials and it doesn't help that I have q contractor that is not familiar with not so conventional style.
  14. Wow, $30! Lighting.com and lighcrafts selling around $150 if I remember correctly. Still thinking if I should get this as my ceiling rather low. Urs is 2.6m at least? Envy...
  15. I think I die die must get my lights by this weekend. Hope they still have the 20% discount. Did you get your birdcage lamp from lighting.com too?
  16. I also saw that light. The big one looks really huge to me leh n the staff said that's why the bigger one got better discount? But looks v matching with your floor.
  17. Thanks Speed45 for the clarification. Becos my mum's place is the frosted/tinted glass type, so when the contractor gave me these, I was quite taken aback. No, I can't see outside, just have to set the window at a certain angle like you suggested. Haha, that window mesh looks quite retro. Ya, I just monitor and I think he knows I monitor rather closely as almost every other day I will ask him how come certain things are done certain way or I don't like the worksmanship of certain part. But agree that no point rushing him, especially when I'm really not in a hurry to move in... I rather he do a good job.
  18. Haha, people hack away storeroom while I do a store room as I felt do nice cabinets for storage also not cheap. N I not the tidy type.
  19. Thanks Alexz, I was also thinking of getting some from lighting.com. Thanks Gkbt too. I thot lighting.com uses Philips bulbs, something that they r proud of n should be more durable. Anyway, most likely will get fr a few places.
  20. wow, I love this design! So sad, my main contractor keep influencing me to use very huge tiles and I dumb dumb agree to his suggestions. But yes, doing these mosaic will be super expensive.
  21. I have first started off initially as a blog on renotalk. but a number of users couldn't find my posts, expecting them to be under t-blog, so will change to post here instead. I'm lazy to re-post the old stuff. Click below for the earlier posts. The search is over Progress is slow Toilet window ok? feel free to give your comments. thanks
  22. Yes, am planning mainly for a retro theme, but when I started renovating, realise that its quite hard to find certain retro materials. then a fren told me its also good not to go overly retro as may be hard to sell in future... (maybe she trying to conso me) Do you have a theme in mind?
  23. Hi Anyone using Ikea lights? How do you find it? I liked some of the designs, especially the pendant lights, but not sure if they are durable. I thought these are cheap too and can add some nice shades with it. (image fr Ikea) But can I use any bulb with Ikea lights? The other time I blur blur bought a Ikea desk lamp then realise the light is warm rather than white. I prefer white light (except for dining). I also thought of getting nice glass retro shades. Anyone know where to get affordable shades like theses but glass in material? (image fr Oddyssey) I saw from one shop at haji lane and its a bit above my budget as I'm thinking to hang three together. thanks
