  1. Update: Caesarstone 2141 went up~!! chose colour for backsplash glass too >.< (non white or black, hopefully the colour chosen will pay off!), finally finalized the drawings for the toilets as well... but there's a hiccup with the wardrobe cabinetry due to the 'bifold' type of door we wanted.. sigh not sure if we have to forgo it in the end.. wardrobe cabinetry is up as well.. will be taking more pictures to post soon! Also started hunting for furniture.. went to many places.. and some shops had very nice things~~ My geek n i were sorely tempted to just pay the deposit for some of the sofas, but thankfully didn't commit and came back home to do research first.. Comments as below: 1. Kuka (fell in love with a sofa there (duo toned) with a ottoman to match; unfortunately, reviews of them (previously Montella) were ULTRA bad =( it's all on renotalk ( ) 2. Winter International (Wanted to buy a customised sofa there (it was everything we wanted, the softness of the sofa, full leather, high back rest (can be adjusted to hide head rest), duo toned, wooden legs (punggol items tend to rust.. and although sandpapering and the autosol (spelling wrong?) can help, din wan to be rubbing the sofa legs); BUT Winter, Red Apple, Mode Studio are all the same family - VERY BAD reviews... ) 3. Cellini (love the caesarstone tables there (the parkmall branch has more range than the branch at furniture mall (plus furniture mall lady has an attitude problem), but design can't seem to match our house... leather sofa wise, din dare to buy from them as we've heard of Cellini sofas peeling within 2 years ) 4. Air Division (loooooveeee the items there, but taj sofa has been phased out and we were so depressed we din wan to see other things there.. oh ya, and the price is really expensive as well o.o) 5. Grafunkt (loooooveeee the items there too, but totally can't find our design.. theirs seem more appropriate for scandi/ mid century modern and such.. but ours is leaning more towards modern contemp) 6. Massimmo (took a ultra fast spin and came out, items were nice, but price is totally out...) 7. Lorenzo (items look good, salesperson didn't hard sell, might buy from there eventually) 8. Novena/ Nova/ Vhive (have been hearing horror stories about quality of items there, so decided to skip these even though we did go and shop around in these places.. some items (SOME) looked nice and were reasonabl priced, but.... skipping them) 9. Wynn (first came across them at expo, then at FM, liked their fabric sofas quite a lot, but thinking of maintaining the fabric sofa gives me headache (have to wash the outer covering) 10. Shop at FM (forgot the name) (we were interested in a fabric sofa there, had a *****, but.........fabric....) 11. Hommage Trading (didn't have high expectations, so was very pleasantly surprised.. some items looked good and they had quartz table! (but delivery for the table we wanted is in april 2013 items there were nice though, might buy from there eventually!) We've been shopping at IMM, FM and Kaki bukit area.. yet to go Sungei Kadut (duno whether should go) Shout out for help! Anyone knows where we can get quartz table or leather sofas? Thanks!!!
  2. Hi bread! actually i duno which tilers will be good for rectification work wor.. i probably am able to get some contacts (i have some friends in the renovation line) but i am not sure of how good their contacts are at the job.. aiyo how come ur tiling got holes?? o.o i dun think the acid wash has been done for ours yet.. still a bit dirty.. now that u say.. i'm worried too o.o rawrr! but anyway, i realised that my edges are the same as urs!! but not obvious and not sharp or rugged.. cox the tiler put the similar colour grout over.. in the end at this stage where carpentry is half up, we also never mention this to Roy.. i suppose it's ok since it's not so obvious or sharp.. o.o
  3. hi kenjo! i still see random ants (same family as the previous ones (all red and small) around any more ant poison i think there is no more walking space lol.. stupid ants.. they are moving in before us!! ur side got any problems?
  4. hi kitty! PM'ed you his contact =D jiayou for your reno!!
  5. me too actually but now am abit worried we chose the wrong colour caesarstone for the installation feels like maybe a darker colour would be nicer rawrr!
  6. hello bread.. the workers your contractor have are really dot dot dot.. first the tiles, then the laminates.. then now installation oso got problem and they nv bother to rectify automatically.. jiayou! i guess it will be hard work on ur part, having to point out all the things that they missed out and din do.. jiayou!! anyway..whats the projected handover date now..? >.<
  7. Hi Jay! So sorry for missing out on your previous reply >.< anyway - PM'ed u both dimensions and my number =) thanks!
  8. hi nilegna! Welcome to RT and to Damai!! there are a few reputable ones in renotalk =) there's K, Jaskel, Alan and of cox there's Roy~ (pardon me if I've left anyone out).. it'd be best if u can approach these people for a quote and a meet up to understand what they can do for u.. in the end it's up to how comfortable u r with them and whether their price is right.. and of cox - request to see their past works (to see the workmanship) and also to see their style (some are better at doing certain styles..).. have fun in your reno journey!! =D have PM'ed u our contact in case u need =)
  9. ooo.. sounds like a long process.. but thankfully they were willing to change for u.. otherwise u'll end up with a lot of headaches cox the light doesn't fit.. actually i think when the light shops really give their best to help the owners, the owners are surely appreciative.. i mean, who wants to be stuck with a light they dun like or cant use? if ppl can help, they will definitely be happy de ma... >.< i'm not sure leh.. one thing is - not good to touch rust.. rust can get absorbed into the skin so got to be careful and cover urself properly before doing the sanding and painting.. >.< hopefully our lights will all last~~!!
  10. thanx casa! your reno v nice too =D love the colour of your kitchen top =D a bit regretting we din do a colour like that =(
  11. no idea.. we were following the ants around.. and they led us to a couple of places.. to a pile of wet newspaper (maybe they were thirsty or maybe some sweet drinks were spilled on it? at one point i was thinking someone peed on it -_- i've got a vivid imagination lol), they also led us outside the house to our neighbour's shoe rack that is displayed outside.. and they were going to places like the shoe cabinet and the kitchen cabinet (in between the laminates).. i really dislike ants.. rawr! they are so small and can crawl into your ears (which is exactly why i dislike them so much).. we went to buy ant poison and littered their paths with the ant poison.. hope they will take it and offer it to their queen and comrades.. -_- any one has any idea to help us get rid of the ants please voice out here~~!! TIA!!!
  12. Anyway.. there is an ant infestation at our house!!!!! seems like it either came with the cabinets or came from outside the door.. duno.... =( hope the ant poison we placed there works =( been chasing spiders as well =( rawrr!
  13. Some updates! Carpentry for the living area arrived on the 30th Sept.. and went up on the 3rd! Unfortunately we forgot to remind Roy to protect the floor when the carpentry went up.. so we're not sure if the floor will be affected.. *cross-fingers that there are no scratches.... anyway picture time!

  16. Hi crypaz >.< wanted to ask u - regarding the post u made on my tblog about the caesarstone? could i have your contact? am wondering whether they are in the same company or.. cox the lady couldn't give us the gst waiver.. so we're trying to see what options we have here =D thanks crypaz! sarah
  17. Remember to share how u will be diying! i'm sorely tempted to do that to our gate too hahaha
  18. hi evi! the fan looks good! unfortunately i din do research on this fan - didn't see it during my research phase otherwise i'd definitely have researched more =) it looks really similar to the wing ceiling fan by minka aires.. since elmark marketing is carrying the minka aires artemis.. maybe they are carrying the wing fan as well - but i still think the air fan by boffi looks better >.< sorry cant be of more help! http://www.lumens.com/wing-ceiling-fan-by-minka-aire/uu369460/product
  19. hi bread - i dun hv a pic of our house the corner too - will take the next time round we go up - but seriously, i dun recall our tiles being tiled lidat leh - otherwise we'd have jumped too.. the top part is normal.. in the end they will be painted over.. but the corner.. shouldn't be filled with so much cement/ grout.. i recall tiles at the side o.o in any case.. the tiling shouldn't be uneven.. even if it was the tiles problem - then ur contractor's responsibility to make sure he dun use the problematic tiles for tiling.. and he cannot say that this is not common practice cox our renovator told us he'd be doing that when we expressed worry over the 800mm tiles.. he said that his practice is never lay the tiles if there are problems and consult owner first before deciding whether to take risk and continue to lay or to request the tile company to change a new batch before laying the tiles.. rawrrr! if u can feel the unevenness when walking..... den it's not very safe wor... plus weird cox if u can feel it then others can feel it too.. o.o headache
  20. anyway, one side note complaint to add.. after the experience with chan huat (plus the fact that they were charging gst and prices are not really cheap since we found cheaper items outside and quality is the same), we went about a bit more and we found another shop along jalan besar.. great attitude even though we voiced from the start that we only wanted one light for common bedroom, and two lights for toilets.. in the end we found one light that we really liked (we called it a speaker light! but no images cox my phone no batt at that time -_-) and paid 200sgd for it (original price was 249) and she later allowed us to use credit card for it as well.. best thing is: they don't charge gst, and delivery is free with purchases above 200sgd.. chan huat told us that it was free delivery above sgd 600!!! imagine our shock.. we bought more at chan huat.. but no delivery - had to carry everything ourselves.. and at this one small shop, service is better and got free delivery somemore.. all that is left is whether the quality is good.. guess we will find out soon.. rawrrr!!!
