Last weekend we went shopping and bought our Sofa, dining lights and dining table, expectedly! We went with the 'look see look see' mentality and didn't expect to find stuffs that we like. Especially for the dining lights, it's 'love at first sight' for my mister. T I have been looking for high back sofa. It's difficult to find for Fabric high back, I need sofa that we can sit with our head rested somewhere....so it's more relaxing. I guess it's easier to get leather ones and I almost gave in to leather sofa until I saw this. I like the colour combination of this sofa (except that 2 little red cushions which are not part of the deal) and it was not expensive so we paid a deposit for it. I am still thinking if I want L shape but the shop said they can custom made to 3 seater @ the same price, I do not mind though. Will think about it. This is the dining table that my mister like. It is 1.8m long. I find that very big but he likes the size and so I gave in to him. This is love @ first sight. It is not cheap but we agree that this will be the statement piece in our home. Good luck for cleaning!

Hi Does anyone know where I can find aluminium pole for tv? The pole will be in the middle of my hall to enable the tv to turn 360 degrees. If anyone of you who has installed a pole tv at home and has home pictures to share I would greatly appreciate. Thanks for your help!

We will finally be collecting keys end of this month and has decided on the layout of the house. As mentioned earlier we had not wanted to push back the kitchen wall and have decided on that. Instead, we'll build 2 separate wardrobes. It also makes more sense as it opens up the space in the bedroom. We have decided to build a standard 6 feet wardrobe just beside the room entrance and another 6 feet wardrobe at the empty wall opposite the toilet entrance. I saw this in Home & Deco and love it immediately: I wanted to build this (minus the island) but I also want to have a row of drawers underneath the windows. I dont know how to combine drawers with glass wardrobe (seems funny to have glass and wooden drawers side by side). I have yet to discuss this with my contractor. In this case I will still have my big space and big wardrobe without spending extra in hacking. The contractor has yet to produce the id for my master bedroom but i'm quite certain it'll turn out well. This is how my layout will look like: As our living area is small (funny layout with pillars here and there thus we can't have a good big living area) we have decided to fully utilize it by creating a rotatable tv console. In this case, it can be turned to face whoever is sitting on the sofa, at the dining area as well as those sitting near the cosy corner where a full height bookshelf will be built. It really took us a long time to finally finalize the layout coz my instructions to everyone is simple, low cost, fully utilize the space and the house has to look neat. We should be able to achieve the look and I'm waiting for the rest of my 3d drawings to complete. -
I am looking at lights for dining area and saw these few from Taobao. But i'm still thinking if it's worth the hassle or I should buy from JB or just locally....

Yesterday my contractor sent me our 3d design and we love it instantly!!! Our living room.. This is the balcony area turned cosy corner.... The open concept kitchen The dining area... I wanted a wider dining table (ideally table should blend in with the pillar) so they'll make changes on that but i love the color combination It is such a huge difference from the current owner's house!!

My Completion was done last week. And I'm finally feeling the excitement of our new jumbo flat. As we agreed to let the ex-owners stay for another month we'll only collect the keys from then in end October which means we'll only start renovating in November. But we have finalized the design we want and this is what we have decided to do. I don't want to hack any walls in the masterbed room so I decided to split the wardrobe. One will be at the window (full see through wardrobe) and another one beside the entrance (have yet to decide if this will be see through). I'm ok to sacrifice one window but not all, hence the separate wardrobe idea. And we really need big wardrobe hence this idea...

And today my other half said its still better to push back kitchen wall coz the kitchen/dining area too big a lot of wastage space. I can see ourselves ding dong-ing here and there till October when we get the key and have our contractor with us! Push back kitchen wall - wider bedroom, proper wardrobe, more cost Remain as it is - pole system which is dirtier than proper wardrobe but save cost We shall decide when we get the key and take another look at the house... -

Sarah My biggest concern is of course the wardrobe in my bedroom and the pillar in the kitchen (the one nearest to the main door) which I've decided to build the island around there I am eager to see how the contractor will make that pillar not an eyesore and blend into the design beautifully. Well, i'm not sure if it's doable but I hope it can be. I want to build an island there (maybe L shape) which I can use as a dining table as well Thanks for the ideas they are useful I am fully aware of the labour costs of hacking hence i'm trying to cut down as much as I can. Hi Mike We have new ideas again and this one seems so good!! Coz we no need to push back kitchen wall (can save money!!). What happened was we went to balestier last weekend and visited closet design for their pole system. My current house I'm using their pole system for my 6ft wardrobe. So I was thinking let's just go in and see what they can do for us. They suggested the wall outside the bathroom and the wall opposite the bath room to be fitted with pole system. My concern is I don't want to block the 'lights' and so they suggested just do pole system without door. i love the idea!! the only concern is dust of course but between dust and pushing back kitchen wall, i chose the former!! now i'm thinking if i should do see through glass door for both sides of the wardrobe so i wont block the lights from the window. of course the 'width' of that area has to be considered Chris -

Good job there on your window! My very initial plan was to put the wardrobe as you have suggested but am thinking its funny n not exactly visually nice to have two wardrobes in a room.i don't know I might still change my mind to original plan but I also do not want to block the window. Am thinking of bringing the basin outside, at the wall opposite the toilet and the put bath tub n standing shower in the bathroom this is if I really push back the kitchen wall I shall leave the technical part ie, hdb restrictions, to my contractor -

Hello Mike We have thought of the ideas you mentioned My current wardrobe is 6 ft n not enough hence a bigger one is needed. And yes the only way is to push back the kitchen so I can place the wardrobe directly opposite the bed Still thinking if I want to put a sink in the island or a dry one but definitely not going to cook on that island. My contractor said push back the kitchen but since I am only getting keys in October hence I have lots a time to think of what other alternatives I can do.... Thanks for doing this on a Friday with me Chris
