Anyone interested? It's brand-new -
Need some help here, guys! I work from home quite a bit.. so i want a chair that is comfortable and has adjustable height (cos i am short). But i really hate the look of bulky office chairs.. especially those with rollers. Does anyone know of any chair with adjustable height but that doesn't look like the normal office type?

yup i'll be adding a sealant few mths later.. choosing between gloss and semi-gloss. undecided! long entrance already has built-in shoe cabinets from the previous owner. we kept that, and will be doing some DIY stuff to make our own mini balcony area my fiance is already living in our new place for the past few weeks.. so far so good!

hi there, i got them from my uncle who is a lighting supplier. they are regular LED track lights. Yup this is the only lighting we have, because we wanted to save cost and avoid building a false ceiling. well, my experience is i don't really like it. the lights are very directional, so no matter how you aim them, there's always some dark spots in the room. although generally the room is bright enough to read, it still can't compare with downlights. if you get LED ones, they won't be hot.. so at least thats one less concern. i saw some people mix track n downlights.. i think that would be much better. hope this helps!

we feel each others pain yes i read that other thread about the guy who sandpapered. and we tried that out too.. we manually sanded half of our living room. the floor is SO much smoother. and it does seem like much less powder! so i think it really does work. i thought sealant wuld solve this!! if it doesnt, then may i ask what's the pros of sealant? would you recommend it?

after the cement dried, we found there was 1 round patch that looked like a puddle. alot darker than the rest of the floor. it looks like someone spilled something. ID/contractor said it is natural.. that sometimes cement will just have random areas which are darker than the rest. we're cool with that, except this patch is a perfect circle. so it looks hideous! it doesn't look natural at all. why we regret is bcos with cement, unlike tiles, when something like that happens.. you can't just simply knock 1 tile off and replace it. ID/contractor can hack everything n redo but it'll be messy and will take weeks to dry. and can't hack that area only, because all batches of cement are different coloured. they are now trying ways n means to lighten the patch.. we're also airing it for 2-3 mths to see how it goes. really crappy.

hey! i've been so busy cleaning the place/moving.. havent had time to log on nope, we tiled up the island. yup we went with cement screed for the kitchen + living. BIG regret. will never do cement screed again. ever! more on that + updates on my reno later..... i will post pics soon!

hey there! Yes, i used vinyl for all the bedrooms. i did quite a bit of research and i liked it cos its waterproof and feels less hollow. i also like that we could overlay the existing tiles instead of hacking. I was concerned about the toxic thing too, but my contractor said SG would never approve anything that emitted toxins.. especially for the home. anyway if you are very concerned, the new vinyls are all clips instead of glued on. i guess this would lessen any chemicals by a fair bit. hope this helps!

Yup, just like adidaem mentioned, it's a Relite fan. Can be found in most fan shops

Rooms Some sneak peaks right after painting (1st 2 coats) and lights were installed. We were testing the track lights, so excuse the alternate lights on the track, lol. Master bedroom: WIW before cabinets were installed: Guest room: Guest room right after vinyl flooring was laid:

Kitchen + Toilets Here's some pics of the kitchen + toilets in midst-construction.. this was taken ard august i think: Kitchen island being constructed.. Common Toilet.. Master Toilet.. Don't have any pics yet. We're attempting quite a brave thing.. we're painting the non-shower area instead of tiling. We used a form of weathershield paint and got it in a custom dark blue. Shower area + floors are tiled white. Reason we decided to paint is there's a huge *** sewage pipe in the master. And i realized that no matter how you try to paint it to be similar to the tile color, it never gets camouflaged. So might as well just paint all. Pic that gave me inspiration:

will post some of the midway-point photos

Yup, the proj mamanger was introduced to us at the 2nd/3rd meeting. We knew he would be the one on-site, not the ID. which i'm fine with, because the PM is a very technical and experienced guy. But he didn't show up that much.. only before/after every major task, to make sure it was done ok. The payment schedule is pretty standard across the industry - i don't think you can do much negotiating on that. of course, no harm trying though. but because they've pissed us off so badly, they havent dared to ask us for the remaining 40% that we were supposed to pay upon delivery of carpentry. on our end, we've been advised by experienced parents/relatives to hold our payment until the handover. this is to make sure they don't dilly-dally and drag even further.

i totally agree. in retrospect, we should have asked for the Date of Completion in black and white, so that we have a stronger case. of course, if they have any decency whatsoever, they should know that 15 weeks reno is crazy - don't need paper to prove the infuriating thing is we asked for a project schedule multiple times, and each time, the Proj Mgr would say "ok ok, will send it soon" but we never received one. after the 4th/5th week of reno, we got so busy with the millions of decisions and gave up asking. i think the problem with my ID is that they are overworked. when we demanded that they stick to the handover date last week, they said they just REALLY couldn't find enough workers because there were too many projects on hand. is this valid?? sorry but i don't give a f*** about your lack of workers - you took up this amount of projects, you have to manage them properly and deliver on time. that's one thing i learnt as a noob - popular ID companies may have better experience due to their larger portfolios. but it also means they may not have much attention for you. my friend who went with a lesser known ID had her reno (same amt of work, same sqf) done in 8 weeks and her ID himself went down every single day. anyway, this being our 1st exp, we'll take it as lessons learnt and have a smoother exp the next time! *cross fingers*

yup it's been really frustrating..we are now almost done, with minor things left like installation of toilet accessories and final coat of paint. FINALLY!

Not sure if this will be of any help, but I went with Three-D. So far, its been quite disappointing. We are on our 14th week of reno and they just asked for another week of extension. It's getting really frustrating. When we first met them, I was really pleased with everything. We could connect with the ID, the quote was lower than other firms, and they weren't giving us silly impractical designs. Problems only started after we signed the contract (as always). We realized they work in pairs (i'm not sure abt meiyi tho, my ID isnt her) and they brought on a Proj Manager to join in the discussions. This Proj Manager will be the one on-site and will be overlooking the project. ID only takes care of the designing elements like 3d drawings, recommendations for tiles, colours, etc. What we found disappointing since works started .. 14 weeks ago .. - proj manager does not go on-site much, only once in a while - there were days that NO workers appeared at all - instead of choosing all materials/finalizing details at the beginning, they did it step-by-step which we found very frustrating and caused alot of delay. for example, when it was time to do toilets, they would say "ok. lets choose toilet tiles at XXXXXX place." when we went there and didn't like anything, we would have to arrange another meeting at another place and all this whilst reno was already ongoing. so it means that if we can't find something we like, the entire reno would get delayed and no works would be done UNTIL we could find something we like. i find this really stupid. they should have ensured we chose all materials at the very beginning, so that works could run smoothly once started. I'm not sure if its just this particular team.. because i know they have many other staff. Maybe the rest are ok, i'm honestly not sure. But just sharing my experience with you. Eveyrthing else about them is good tho.. they respond very fast, workmanship is good, willing to rectify errors, etc. Just make sure you try and settle everything at the beginning so things don't drag like mine 14 weeks is reallly
