It has been a while coming into RT forum. Recently busy with moving office and my own house, finally everything been settled. Handed the keys on 28th Sept, feeling abit sad, our first house for 8 years. Now, waiting patiently for my keys to come on the 29th Oct then can start my renovation and have a place of our own. Now staying at my mum's place is very inconvenient, imagine 6 people in a 3 room flat.

Called Caesarstone directly. Basically they have 2 distributors carrying the top for them. I was told that Caesarstone Classico series ranging from $180 - $185 per foot run.

Simple house can still go on TV somemore. hehe.

Seriously, those ID gave me a feeling that they are more like a project manager rather than interior designer. Those really can come up with creative ideas will come with a price. Especially HDB, the floor plan is rather restricted,thus almost 8 out of 10 house will look the same. I saw those in Home & Decor website, very nice n I think they easily more than 50k.

Ya....so far SDS said he can do the co-ordination for all the suppliers provided there's no change in his final quote. So I think the quotation will look interesting. If I have the time n only if I know the procedures, I don't mind take up this project myself n can save a lot of money. Anyway, nowadays all these suppliers like to do direct buyers than ID/contractors.

Agree. When attention to big shot, they act faster.

Hi Charles, This is not new. I got parent grant 8 years ago and my parents need to follow me to HDB because this will affect them as in they can't sell flat within the next 5 years and HDB need them to understand and agreed to the requirements.

I can't decide too because to get ID, unless they can come out with impressive design, if going to be standard, then I think I would rather get a contractor to follow my design instead. The trouble is to co-ordinate with different sub-contractors, thus I would want to deal with only one person, anyway I pay for their service. My colleague just renovating his pte apartment and he is doing the coordinating work himself. Heard that he got a carpenter from Malaysia, not bad though. If you want, I can PM you only after 1st Oct as he is on business travel now.

I'm taking Herbal Life now. Nutrition Shake for 2 meals and 1 colorful meal. Meat with no skin, no deep fried, less carbo, no soft drinks, more plain water, more fruits, more vege. Everyday climb stairs instead of taking lift. Hopefully one day.....I can go back to once a upon a time.

Hi, How old is your boy? I also have a boy, 7 yrs old this year. Its better to have tiles because they will spill water easily unless, u are always there to wipe the floor immediately if you are using laminated flooring. I only do laminated flooring in the bedrooms because the chances of spilling will be lesser as I do not allow my son to eat or drink in the room.

I'm getting more stress now, sometimes I think ignorance can be a blessing too. The more u know, the more headache u get. Too many requirements for renovation, thus not many ID willing to take up the job, and I do not wish to coordinate myself unless I have the time. Things I need to do out of standard package: 1. Caesarstone kitchen top 2. Kronotex laminated flooring - not dynamic range 3. Closet design for wardrobes 4. Air Con from direct air con supplier Should I drop these n just follow whatever is given?

Can PM me? I'm thinking to get them to quote. I'm getting keys in late Oct. Still selecting ID/contractors. If their carpentry workmanship that bad, plus poor service, I might withdraw the idea n start looking again.

I think we had the same timing. Most probably I will get contractor/ID to our new place on mid Oct to do on-site measurement for quotation, then after collecting the keys they can straight away start. I heard that Dec is peak period for them, thus the progress will be slower, if whole house going to hack, need at least 2 mths, fastest can only be in early Jan.

Still not used to front load washer, thus decided to go for top load instead. My current washer also LG, lasted 8 years, we used it 3 times per week, plus washing bedsheets and curtains. Received letter from HDB yesterday stated that our current block has been selected for HIP. I think my buyer will be affected badly the biggest problem is they need to decide if they want to renovate the toilets now or wait for HDB to do. Told my agent to inform them, this is something that I'm not expecting to come so soon. Actually, I also have the same concern for my coming flat, both were built in 1984, most probably mine also waiting for HIP, so I also don't know should I renovate the toilets?

As time passed day by day, I think I'm getting more and more stress. Moving office soon but corporate yet to approve and the best part is Boss going to leave everything to me alone. Yes, alone!!! From coordinating with contractor, getting Singtel to fix the fibre broadband, telephone line, packing and arrange for movers, all these to be done by end of last week, simply because that two gentlemen need to travel to States, there are only 3 of us. To make matter worse, I'm suppose to hand my completion of my own house on 28th Sept, which means I need to move soon. Ok, think of the bright side, this Sat I'm going for my buying 1st appointment. Hopefully, I can settle with a contractor or ID soon, but I still don't know who to look for.
