  1. So far, I think the progress is quite on time, my contractor said he planned to complete by end Dec, . Yesterday, have another discussion with contractor to finalize the kitchen cabinet, bedroom tv cabinet and my dressing drawers and also a box up to hide my ugly aircon trunking. Our MBR suppose to be simple, end up hubby can't resist the temptation, bought a 40" SMART TV during SITEX @ $1299 but need to deliver on 5th Dec. Initially, he even wanted to get a 46", even Courts' staff strongly disagree. I told him that the house is not ready, very dangerous to put in new house and if to deliver to my mum's house, we do not have space already. No choice, but to nego with my mum to put in her room for the time being then later we will deliver ourselves. Boh liao right? Bought Nippon Momento paint, thinking to DIY but hubby said I'm too busy where got time to do all this. Maybe I should ask my contractor to do the base for me and I find one good Sat to paint the wall myself. Next week, we will have most of the stuffs deliver so that we can go on our holidays in a peaceful mind the week after. For this week, we still need to carry our lightings from lighting.com and also to source for our towel shelves and bars. Seriously, we are in favor of getting GROHE but they don't have something that suits us, so no choice I'm shortlisting to get from either Johnson Suisse or Hoe Kee. By keeping track on what we have spent so far, we are spending too much already!!!!!I think I'm going to stay there and die there.
  2. I just bought yesterday, the paint 1L is good for a piece of wall which less than 2M x 5M. Will let my contractor paint it, or maybe ask them to apply the primer for me then I paint it myself. It is not cheap but I think its fun. You must buy the everything from Momento including the kit. Primer 1L - $12 Brush Kit - $20 Top Coat (Paint) 1L - $48 The aftermath ----- the wall will be rough and also the design/pattern will depend on the painter. You can create any strokes you want.
  3. Hi Nexer, Will kana GST if we buy more than S$600? I thought if getting Grohe bathroom accessories, don't know after adding all these cost, it is worth it or not.
  4. do a cabinet loh, but what are you putting in that area?
  5. Of cos Hoe Kee will not be able to bring in new Blanco products because the price will be sky high, their target audience will not want to spend so much on a kitchen sink. I like their luxury stainless steel sink, send enquiry to both Hoe Kee and Hafale, only Hafale came back with the price, guess what SGD1500. I don't think I want to spend that kind of money on a sink, thus went to Hoe Kee to get their promotion granite sink @SGD555 which I think is good enough for my humble house.
  6. Pte property, no need to go through any HDB permit except informing your management of what you are doing and when you are doing. At least, you don't need to bother if the ID/contractors is HDB registered or not.
  7. This is a tough question. Initially, most quotation I received were around 25K - 30K excluding electrical, lightings and aircon. So, I'm telling myself, ok maximum I should not exceed 40K renovation + 10K furnishing, so meaning max.50K. But, I seriously over shoot my budget and the cost went all the way up to 60K(as of now, including my new furnishing). I seriously think I'm crazy and when my friend told me he spent nearly 56K for a 3room flat, I was like sure or not, you kana chopped lah, but now I'm spending more than him. This is not my first house, so I told myself whatever I used for my previous house, confirmed + proven no good, thus this time round, with more experience, we decided to spend more on quality. Anyway, to cut the whole thing short, wet works, electrical, aircon all these cannot save, things that can save a little are appliances and furnishing.
  8. My first flat, I arranged the contractors to the flat with seller still living there. The seller allowed me to bring contractors to view the house for quotation. My second flat, due to busy schedule, I only arrange for viewing after completion (got the keys). If you are no hurry to move in, then I suggest that you should take your time, no point rushing through. Anyway, quotation can never be finalize till the day the contractors hand the keys to you. Until now, I'm still revising the quotation along the way.
  9. Congrats in getting your new house. For me, I'm more lazy and busy so I do not have so much time to go to so many ID or contractors. What I did was reading thru reno talk and view the forumers' T-blog for their reviews and then shortlist those that I think I would like to engage them. 1. Shortlist the ID/Contractors that you feel 'comfortable' by going through the forum. 2. I sent my floor plan to the shortlisted ID/Contractors and giving them apple to apple on what I want. 3. Once I think the basic quote is ok to me, I will meet up with the ID/Contractors to discuss in details. Try to shortlist at least 3, no point going thru with many, they will only exhaust you. 4. When I got my keys, I will invite the ID/Contractors to go on-site to finalize their quotation. Ideally, to spread them out because it is not nice to have all ID/Contractors going to site together. If seller allows, maybe within a week, invite at 2 - 3 ID/Contractors to site. For the above suggestions are from my personal point of views because I did asked for at least 8 quotation but all about the same, had called 2 ID/Contractors, they don't give me any quotations but request to view my house first. But end up, they don't seems interested in doing my house after they know that I'm using a few sub-contractors for my kitchen top and flooring, thus I decided to get a contractor to carry out the renovation based on my requirement.
  10. The aircon trunking. When I saw this, I nearly fainted. I asked my husband why he allowed such big trunking running behind the bed, then with a 5cm lobang behind to collect dust. He said the trunking is the smallest already, no choice but to look for my contractor for other options, so the only way is either change the bed frame or do a feature partition behind the bed frame to level because the bed frame is flat.
  11. Went to our new house this morning @ 7.30AM. Taken some photos of the progress, so far the wall tiles have been done up and now starting to lay the floor tiles. Lots of sands Kitchen
  12. Hi Nexer, I'm sorry that I did not really notice the road name because I'm walking along the way to lighting.com.sg (Philips branch). It is along that row of shop houses, next to a renovation company and a lighting shop which sell alot of chandelier. I forgotten if the W/C is under Rigel, you may want to check with Rigel to see if they have such sanitary wares.
  13. I saw it at Jalan Bersah, a shop selling Rigel but I forgotten the name. But the basin is not as big.
  14. Yesterday was a busy day. Early morning must bring my boy to BC for his last class then me n hubby quickly rushed down to Asus Service Centre to repair our notebook, opening hours from 11AM - 1PM but only 6 counters. The place is damned small and over crowded, hubby got agitated and said that he won't buy Asus products again. Then after 2 hrs waiting time, we finished off and rushed to Hoe Kee to collect my storage heater. My contractor want the storage heater first but they don't deliver heater alone, thus must self collect. The best part is they told me that my sink will not come until late Dec which we can't afford to wait, thus our Salesman told us that they will give us the existing stock first and to be delivered on Monday. Seriously, hubby wasn't happy to collect the sink first because our flat is still in a mess. Later, we went all the way to IMM to collect GROHE shower sets despite the thunder storm. Though they can deliver to site but hubby rather kept those in the car first rather than let them holding the stock. We went to new house to put the heater and HDMI, Composite cables so that they can start work. The wall tiles for toilets, kitchen were half done because the tiler told us that the tiles are not enough, so my contractor is ordering for the stock to come in. At this stage, I only see that the waterproof membrane had been done for both toilets, wall tiles up half way, kitchen cabinet base constructed, running electrical points. don't know at this kind of speed, can I get my house in Jan or not?
  15. Hi,

I have not installed yet but because I'm at the top level, the water pressure is small so I change the water pipe to bigger size in the living and might need to add the booster. The rain shower itself no problem, the only problem is the water pressure from the pipes. I bought storage heater for my rain shower.

  16. Today, went to lighting.com.sg @ Jalan Bersah for the 2nd time. I must said their staffs are friendly and good customer service for both branches Balestier n Jalan Bersah. Spent 2 hrs there, total damage $677 for half the house, the track lights fittings were sold out, thus must wait for new stock. Good customer service for Jason who served us. i think more my lighting will cost $1200 in total. over budget again.
  17. He is the contractor who renovated my office. Since I have built up rapport with him, so I just engaged him, btw he is my boss's friend. At least he bother to share his opinion with me, and for quotation wise, he is not the cheapest but I should say its slightly above average but for better quality.
  18. Went to see the site yesterday, all tiles arrived and there was a worker putting the waterproof membrane for both toilets and will start the tiling soon. Looking at the progress, I think it is good, hopefully can hand over by end Dec. Last week very busy, went to order Kronotex flooring, Johnson Suisse and Best Denki. Got good package from Johnson Suisse for their sanitary wares, total damaged $919 for 2 W/C, 1 semi-recessed basin, 1 wall-hung basin, top-up for soft-closing seat cover, chrome water trap. The only unexpected was we had exceeded the budget for our Fridge and washing machine, total damaged $2900. Oh ya, went Expo too, they have Mayer sale too, but since I had bought Electrolux, thus did not buy thing else from Mayer.
  19. I went to Lighting.com.sg @ Balestier. 1M track selling @ $10, Fitting $12 each, Philips LED Bulb $25 - $35 (depending on the watt).
  20. HiHi, Don't mind asking? Is the existing house come with alot of built-in? I find that the hacking cost way too much already.
  21. Samsung having promotion now. We are getting this fridge RT5982BTBSL and free CBTL coffee machine. Though I wanted Nespresso machine, maybe should try if CBTL coffee nice or not.
  22. I was quoted $9.00/psf, total damaged more than 3.2k for 2 bedrooms n skirting for living room. Will try to nego for better price, hopefully. But I must said the quality is gd for 'wood' material. I took back the samples and did 'abusing' test on it, pour water on the grove, use hammer to knock, dropped keys, used keys to scratch. Overall experience: 1. Pour water - Theirs are click guard system, thus when water pour in between the grout line, it will not go in. After I open up the board, they are still dry. 2. Hammering - We knocked very hard on the board, small dent but from far you can't see it. 3. Dropping keys - Nothing happened. 4. Keys scratching - When you see it near, the scratches are obvious and can't removed. But, when you see it far, not really noticeable. Initially, we are on 2nd thought if we wana to get these but because we really like the texture, thus did the test to see how far can the material tolerate. I must said IMPRESSIVE. But, suggest you did the test yourself before committing.
  23. My laminated flooring for bedrooms. Kronotex Mammut Series, I just love their texture.
