Dear people... I am new at this but now I am very confused..... need your 2 cent worth in here: I am doing my own reno, my friend will be assisting me to look for sub-con for all the electrical/ plumbing/ carpentry work etc... I will also look for lightings/ fixtures/ etc on my own. However he just told me that he managed to get a permit for Hacking (i.e. from an ID firm) but we need another permit (i.e. another ID firm, etc) to be liable for any misfortunate that happened during the reno *touchwood* becoz the first ID firm dont want to be liable for any damages etc.... is that true???? I thought only 1 permit is required and thats it? Why need to have 2? If so, anybody can help to source for another firm that can assist me... Pls advice thanks!! Regards, Andy

Hi guys.... bought my 2nd hand Hougang 4-room flat (i.e. 84sqm) in May 12 and getting my keys (i.e. 2nd appt) on 18 Sep 2012. Delayed due to seller was overseas during 1st appt and I have also need to delay the 2nd appt to avoid the Lunar 7th month!!! I will be "designing" my own place and hiring contractor to do the reno job... therefore have tons of questions to ask and seeking opinions.... here goes my list of questions : (a) Can I leave my flat empty during the lunar 7th mth until my 2nd appt? (b) When do I arrange for final inspection of the house before the 2nd appt? © Do I need to perform "open ceremony" before or after 2nd appt? What items to bring? Salt/ rice/ pineapple???? (d) Any reliable and cheap contractor to recommend to in-charge of everything? (e.g. hacking/ re-do of whole house) Just these few questions from now... Hope to get some replies ASAP and will post pics once I have taken the keys and setting up the blog to upload pics! Thanks guys!
