hihi, sorry my reply is kinda late, just saw this thread.. i did get a quote from them but did not sign with them.. did not originally want to step in at first but e id was standing at the door and seems friendly enough.. told him my prob that i went to a few ids but quote is all abv $40k, trying to find one below that.. so he mentions he can try.. discussed at length for couple of hrs.. e whole co is quite ah beng i find.. e id i spoke with is ah beng, his colleague is ah beng.. then e 3rd one i saw (i think it might be the boss, 35+yrs old looking) looks a bit a beng but not so extreme.. when we met up the 2nd time for quote, its was at $39k++.. haha, so accomodating right? but anyways, they are a friendly bunch of ppl.. why i did not sign was, i asked to see his work, so he showed me some, they seem to be taken a long time ago looking at e dates title and e concepts were pretty old fashion.. n i can tell when he changed my breakfast counter design to be higher like a bar counter when now its e rage to do it same height as kitchen worktops.. i guessed it all boils down to e chemistry between u n yr id, really.. good luck!

yr renovation 100% completed, so envy! but i understand what you talking abt in terms of - calling up again sometime later forgetting abt u thinking you are another client (coz it happen to me too, then e id came up with a lame excuse), things discussed went missing etc.. very frustrating esp when u meet these ids up after work, spending couple of hrs discussing and being all hopeful abt e next meet-up to be disappointed.. !!

haha.. the chatting part was good for me also.. end up did not choose them for me is coz: - very old uncle (like 50 yrs old) attending to me, dun feel safe that they will be giving me something modern.. - items taken out of package reduce amt by a tiny bit (reduce cabinet by 2ft = reduce $100) but when add items (false ceiling for toilet = add $500).. my example is exaggerating a bit but the feeling is like tat.. - 1st mtg mention all the things to be done, 2nd mtg the discussed ideas were tweaked into something else.. - did not draw any perspective yet unlike some which readily did so we can vaguely visualise e id concepts.. i do agree if u take the package, its really very competitive.. wei ken in IMM is also under them, the team of designers are younger (those at future home are older), you may wan to try wek ken.. but note also that wei ken designers mostly sales designers, ie they have someone do the drawings for them.. happy sourcing ya, its this stage that's most torturous..

for me i also feel no point i chase the id when i want to give them business.. some of the ids i spent 2 hours telling what i want end up mia-ing.. very frustrating esp with work and all and taking precious after office hours to do it.. very tiring lor.. end up, i learnt a trick from fellow forummers: write up a list of what you want to do, before you meet up with the id, email them the list that you want to do and get a rough quote first. if rough quote looks ok, then meet up to elaborate and see their credentials.. hope that helps! ps - personally i feel those cos that go for exhibitions not too good, hear from some friends feedback, signed at exhibition but end up having a bit of problems with their reno. usually like a lot of promotions, however, its at the expense of the quality of worksmanship, if not how they give those freebies or cheap price..

My Reno Experience

think it was 3 yrs ago hence able to portray the terrible experience you've had in a comic tone.. its another life learning experience.. -
hihi.. pm already.. just a caution, his quote (as you can see above) is at a small premium because i think, if i continue to search harder, might be able to get a cheaper quote.. but after much considerations, me and hb still went ahead to sign with him as we felt his design conceptualising skills are stronger than the other 5 ids whom we've met plus got chemistry lor (nice chap).. and design is a major concern me and hb looking for.. our motto 'house is hdb, home is condo', haha.. therefore if only going for basic renovations, the premium his co is charging might not be so worth it.. let me know if need any further help or info!
