  1. Our toilet and bathroom light The cove and downlights.(ceiling is not painted so it looks a bit uneven here) Grilles being installed back Bifold doors (hb and i prefer this over pd doors)
  2. The kitchen lights The actual Our room light. Chose the same design for it's simplicity. White light (daylight) for the study For our room
  3. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. (Genesis 1:3 NIV) Our downlights were from Philips The hole to fix the downlights The actual When lit. Love how the edges are illuminated as well.
  4. Parquet floor has been resurfaced and varnished. It now looks as good as new. If you remember, this was the before. Am glad we kept the old parquet and managed to save some $$$$.
  5. Painting of the house has started. Kitchen walls behind cabinet painted with a sealer coat. Paint cans. 2 shades of grey for the master bedroom MIL's bedroom Study but it's kind of dark
  6. If you remember, I highlighted that there were some rectifications to be made at the bathroom. This was what the contractor did. Hb did not like it as the slightly raised platform at the pipe area as it would be a potential hazard and a definitely toe-stubber. This is because our bathroom is small. Hence, the got the tiler to redo this area and also to redo one of the bathroom walls which wasn't 90 degrees to each other (though not visible, when the basin is installed, it would be very obvious). They had to hack and retile these areas. Before (with slightly raised platform) After rectification (they had to remove vent pipes again for this). Much better I think. Safer and neater too. Toilet has been installed. Bought all the toilet accessories from a small shop in Toa Payoh. Managed to save another $200+ on what we thought was the lowest quote (another shop in Balestier). They have very good after sales service too. When we highlighted that the basin was not what we wanted and the tap sent had scratches, they sent someone down to replace that very Saturday. One cons is that because it's a small shop, they may not have all the items so some of the items have to be viewed via catalogues. If anyone is interested, pm me and I will share the contacts with you. Bathroom pipes repainted
  7. Been away for some time as. Am glad to update my t-blog. The house Reno is progressing well, albeit a bit slow. But this also means we can take some time to think through our decisions and discuss them together. Realised that Reno is about decision-making. In fact, decisions have to be made almost every other day. Some initial plans have to be reworked too. For example, our original plan for Aircon trunking could not materialise because of our low beam and had to take into consideration the running of the Aircon pipe. Not as easy as we had thought it to be in the first place. Nevertheless, the house is coming together and we are excited at the prospect that my hb can move back end July/ early August. Lost track of the day so I shall just update as it is. Cove light for living room is up. 2 reasons why we decided to have cove and downlights: 1) to create ambience in the living room 2) to hide all visible trunking on the ceiling However, one downside is that this makes the ceiling real low. Our original ceiling was only 2.4+m. Have to keep an opening in the downlight area for the installation of the Aircon blower because of low ceiling. Have to lower the false ceiling at space between bedrooms Power Points for living room and tv console Big switches we'll have in the house. (this is in the kitchen btw)
  8. Hi XTR that's a clever way of hiding the washing machine. Btw can I ask, did u managed to conceal your electrical trunking or most of them are visible?
  9. That's really fast! Almost move-in condition already
  10. Happybaby I like your sofa, especially since it's turquoise. Where did you get it from?
  11. Have been really busy this week....finally finished my wedding photoshoot and prepping myself to be ready before that...am so glad it's finally over! Day 19 to 20 Plastering is done and electrician came by to lay the wires....so sad that we can't conceal the cables....but nevertheless the trunking in living room would be largely hidden by the cove lights. Check out the amount of wires used....heard from hb this was insufficient The trunking before the wires are laid. This is for the downlights. The mess during the laying of cables
  12. After the discussion with hubby, Id and boss of tiling company, the boss of the tiling co has agreed to redo the walls. No choice as my hb is pretty OCD about workmanship as he is an ex-HDB contractor and knows the tricks of the trade.
  13. Day 15 Update: The kitchen, bathroom and toilet are completed. Living room floor tiles are also done up. However, we realised that the bathroom walls are not perpendicular to each other. Though this is not clearly visible, the mounting of the sink would certainly exemplify the flaw. We spoke to id, highlighting that the ‘new wall’ was installed by her workers, hence she would need to rectify this. Hb, id and tiler are going to discuss this today afternoon. Day 16 - 18 Currently, plastering is ongoing. Remember I had highlighted that the walls of the flat was covered with poor and uneven plastering work, had many pits and bumps. Well, it’s amazing how much plastering can do to the overall look of the house. The add-on costs to get workers to plaster the walls are definitely worth it. Hb commented that plastering is as important as having a good make-up base/ foundation for a girl. Will upload pictures later.
  14. Paiseh paiseh...I'm sohblind. Anyway, by th etime I told my hb, the tilers had already instead the normal floor trap le...sian
  15. Day 14 Tillers managed to finish laying the living room floor tiles in one day. When we reached, they were busy working on the area that's connects the parquet and tiles. We love the clean look this tile gives. Took these pictures from the door as we did not want to disturb the tilers too much.
  16. Hi ValerieLow where did you get the study table? And how much does it cost? We are looking for a simple one like yours!
  17. Wow cool... didn't know these tiles are so hardy. If I knew, they could be an option for my kitchen ...
  18. Yes...certainly hope so and keeping my fingers crossed. Think my hb also a bit ocd. Hahaha
