Quotation Review - What Is The Reasonable Price For These Items?
sandywu replied to dunn's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Actually it's pretty normal nowadays for contractor to charge closer to ID price, so they will not kill their "ID business". I heard from my ID, there are always a ID price and customer price. So if ur contractor price is almost similar to ID pricing, i think should be reasonable. -
Maybe sand got more and more expensive, so they got to charge separately... haha, if not is it their tiles charge u super cheap?
-
I think could be the ID giving the room a theme, so need to build the beds. but the carpentery price is reasonable.

Quotation Review - What Is The Reasonable Price For These Items?
sandywu replied to dunn's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Actually price is reasonable, but then again how's the workmanship of the contractor? I wouldn't say it's cheap, but i think i have seen cheaper quotes in the forum, but if the workmanship of the contactor is good. this price is reasonable. -
I think need to apply, but anyway, isn't ur contractor / ID going to help u? Hacking, Waterproofing etc..
-
Isn't everything inside ur quotation? And shouldn't it be in black and white?

This i agree wif u Seng, ask the ID to ask for discount for u. Should be able to get comparable low price, in the market. But then again. u must see which shop ur ID bring u to. If they are introducing u all those Europe brands products, u cannot compare wif those China made products. Coz there will definitely be a huge price difference.
-
Seriously, If u really do your homework, the price difference from shop to shop is really not tat bad. Their difference is like 5-10% max. Even of the ID where to overcharge u, if you were to use % to count the difference, rather than $ difference, you wouldn't feel tat bad. ^_^

Like they alway say in this forum, compare b4 you commit, check b4 u sign. So long as the price difference is btw 5-10% You know that you are not short change. ^_^ As for workmanships, You have to find more establish ID, rather than new. ^_^ -
I'm no expert, but i have done some homework when i got my new home. Seriously, there are no free lunch in the world. So long as u do your homework, if the price is too high, dun buy from the place your ID recommend u. If the price is reasonable, just get it and probably ask for a bit of discount. ^_^ Every shop have their "Customer Price" and "ID Price". You will not be short change, dun worry. All the shop will mark up their price, so that they will not kill their "Fixed" Business from the ID. If you were to walk into the shop by yourself, the salesman will be happy n smiling.

I Am A Renovation Newbie – Need Guidance From The Experts!

Hi, I'm not an expert, but I've just done my HDB renovation. Below are my 2cent worth, hope u find it useful. -
Unless u are those that dun mind the patches, you should either paint yourself, if not engage the professional. As an owner, you know when you do a good job, you'll very very feel happy. If the job is not done well, you still can console yourself. It's done by me. Cheers

Actually painting is a wall is easy, but painting a house isn't. Choosing friends to paint the house, also must see if they know how to paint anot. I've seen my cousin's frens job painting his his whole house. One of the bedroom was painted by his frens, a lot of patches here and there. Bear in mind one thing when you called ur frens to help. "There should be no complain, because it's ur fren and u cannot get angry wif them. They helped for free." Whereas if you are spending a bit more, u can call the guys to repaint if the job is not done well. Get them to patch watever u need to patch. That is the difference with a paid services.

Hidden cost are the killer in renovation, esp to our own pocket. Misunderstanding also occurred at the same time. Old school or new school, Must make sure the job done well, if not gonna regret and waste more money. Cheers

After seeing my cousins' renovation, reading the forum with so many complains. I came to understand one thing. Worksmanship, quality and material is the more impt thing when it comes to renovation. Work within your budget. Asking discount, sometimes might compromise the standard of the quality of the work done. Trust me. "Cheap and good" There will definitely be there, but then if you unlucky. What you get is cheap and bad, in the end, might have to send more $$ to remove and redo.

Hello Kim, i'm new here and saw your post. Actually the quote you have there is pretty reasonable, but then have u seen the worksmanship of the ID?
