Hey Joyz, ask u ah...what is e purpose of e chemical wash? When is it done and why is it done? Put pictures of ur carpentary k!
-
Wow warderz, your place looks great! How much was the reno damage?
-
Hey Ans, cheer up gal! This H*D deserves to be whacked! !! They havent changed my window handles either, apparently they are now sourcing for the handles. Initially they tried to spray paint over the oxidised handles but it looked worse then before! On the K's advice, we asked the TO to change it as work was unacceptable. Now our reno has started, and they are still looking for it!

What are we talking abt here? No lah, maybe the workers reported early? Or did they camp over night? !! Ah Kiat, maybe you want to check with ur ID? Thanks Cheesecake! K did mention a particular size; he said it will look nice but I forgot. Maybe I shld sms him to check. That day Mudster and I went down to Chelsea and the biggest downlight looked enormous! I better get the right size!

Thanks joyz and HSH21! Ok today I popped by my place after work and was lucky to find the tilers at work. Kenneth called me twice to clarify certain things so he could push ahead with tiling. When I got to my place, the tilers were busy laying the tiles and was surprised that they actually were very polite and stopped to smile and say hello! I couldnt step into the house, plus Kenneth warned me at least 2 times not to step in until Saturday/Sunday. So, I stood outside at the gate and admired the tiles and their work. I ask you ah ppl, the tiles look at little tarnished (not scratch but just blur blur at places). Is that normal? Will it go away later? I havent checked with K abt this. Will do so tomoro, cos he will be going down to inspect and tt wld be better cos he will get what i'm telling him once he sees the tiles. Anyway, K has been very good thus far, and he is always just an sms away! His repliess are always almost instant! I stood there watching the tilers, I kept smsing and disturbing him! I was a little worried abt the tiny gaps btw e tiles so I asked him why some tiles were joined perfectly while others had a tiny gap. Asked him if tt was normally e case. K's reply: Yup, cause no tiles are 100% of the same size. Some wld be slightly bigger, some smaller. So there should be a tolerance of 0.5 to 1mm in gap size Hahaha he actually bothered to explain! Thank you K!

Hey Ah Kiat, what's the size of your downlights? There are at least 3 sizes right? How to decide which size is most suitable?

Hey everybody! Wow quite a bit of conversation going on here huh? Nice to have you ppl around! Yup apparently he hasnt had gd exp with clients ard the area. He was telling us abt hw unreasonable they were. My sympathies with dear K. Some times clients can be overly demanding and unreasonable too. Good news - Wiring and ceiling work's done! Today K met the haulage people and paid em so tonight the haulage ppl wld have uploaded all the materials e.g. sand, etc. In other words, tiling work begins tomoro!! K said it'll take abt a week to complete Hey Relacker, thanks for popping by. We did try to check for problems ard the place and we didnt try very hard and yet we came up with tt long list. Not to worry too much, as long as you are comfortable, u need not report every single problem. Sometimes, instead of improving things, they might worsen it! Anyway, when we collected our keys, we were told to submit the list within 7 days or at least b4 the reno starts. So do it soon cos HDB usually takes at least a month to complete rectification work. All the best!

Darling! You are spamming in our very own blog!

Hey Hirox and JaimeGal! Just dropping by to say hi How has K decided to incorporate FSM contributions? And when is reno starting? Mine's beginning tomoro!
-
Me goondu la, wasn't clear in my previous post. Yeah, apparently quality of tiles is just as good as SBH's but cheaper. I'll take pictures on Saturday and post the effect over the coming weekend!
-
Hey AhBlur What colour is ur laminate? Yesterday we decided on our laminate and we chose Oriental teak...it reminds me of coffee! Post some pictures of your place okay? I wanna see, see
-
Hahaha no,no. K brought us to look see look see at SBH. And we short-listed two tiles and brought the sample to K's office. There he showed us th Hafary samples, and we chose the Hafary tile over the SBH one. Apparently Hafary is a smaller place than SBH and is usually crowded and so K doesnt like going there. That is why he has gathered the Hafary samples at his office too.

Hi Ahblur, I'm sure the HDB tiles in the living room look decent. Yup K listens to both Mudster and I, and he'll give good suggestions. We went to SBH too but K will make the orders at Hafary (Wonder if it's spelt this way). Apparently, the tiles are cheaper at Hafary. Today, K has officially taken over the place. Now his lock his up at the gate and we got a key to allow access to the unit. And yes, we made the first payment - 50% of the total.

Hi HSH We knew we were getting homogeneous tiles and so we had to decide from the following: 1) Matt 2) Polished I liked the polished surface even though the matt surface is more appropriate for a resort feel. We cheated, and decided on polished finish cos our theme is modern resort, hahaha! Then, we had to decide between the following 1) Normal polished 2) Polished surface with an additional protective coat So here we chose the latter option, it helps protect against stains e.g. marker This is when Mudster and I couldn't decided between the two short listed patterns for the tiles with the additonal protection coat. Mudster liked the tile with a marble kinda a stain and I liked the one vertical lines (more zen). So I let Mudster win lor. It's a nice choice. Will show pictures once we can step into the house after tiling work on Thurs/Friday.

Good progress Ak Kiat! Soon my place will look like this too!

Hey Joyz, just popped by to see your reno progress. Going good huh! !! What's next? Carpentry work?
-
Hey! Congrats on the start of your reno; pleased to meet a very brave couple! All the best! !!

Hey People, Reno work starts officially on Monday, 26/03/2007. Here is the schedule for the coming week: Monday: Wiring Tuesday - Wednesday: Ceiling work Thursday: Tiling Today we got to choose our homogeneous tiles for living/dining area. It was 2 against 1, so Mudster and K got their choice tile. I didn't put up a fight. Let the boys win! It is one of those stain-resistant tiles lah. K demonstrated one of it's super power properties; he used a marker and drew over the tiles and later rubbed off the ink with his thumb! Not a speck was visible! !! Made a tentative selection for floor laminate too. Oriental something, need to check out the name again.

Wow, singhao! Absolutely romantic and original!

Hey Ans, Give them another 2 weeks. Since the matter has been brought up to HQ and you've asked for a change of officer, I'm sure they'll be under scrutiny. So they're most likely to pull up their socks this time. After that, leave things to K and you rest and enjoy the reno process. Your shopping do already or not? I bought my kitchen fittings over the weekened.
-
Hmmm, so hw did the previous owner counter the HHS problem, is that a curtain railing attached?
-
Wow nice place! Gorgeous view from living room! Seems like the house is in good shape! Good buy!

Hi all Met up with ID today to show him H*B's workmanship and things we're still not comfortable with. Dearest K obliged and he'll be changing/rectifying it for us! He also showed us improved drawings...and mind you, on his own initiative. Mudster and I actually accepted his previous drawings but he went ahead to see how he cld do a better job! Same with the kitchen, we thought it was pretty good, but he wants to work on it some more. We welcome initiative! Thank you K! Oh yes, we'll be selecting tiles and tidying up details on Tuesday evening. K will probably get things rolling in the last week of March.

Hey strawberry and ah guan, you can finally start your reno! The bigger tiles definitely look better!
