  4. Hey Teatime, you still wanna try them? They like fighting sial my goodness... But if it's really full laminate can show us some photos both internal and externally? At $200-$210 is really too good to be thru even the price i get is much more Looks like i have to go and screw my carpenter again!
  5. Looks okays to me. Do note your carpentry work most likely is internal white pvc and if there are soft closing will be those normal cheap ones. You can check with your contractor see what they provide you. , Mike
  6. Reasonable. For cabinets dun think they are using blum soft closing, juz normal ones which might not be as effective. Do take note. Oh and the Countertop they using is juz normal solid surface at $60pfr. The rest are okays juz that haulage abit ex... but plus minus here and there okays la...
  7. I guess at least ur ID could have gotten a tile floor trap to conceal it. Like those from Jonite. Hmmm drilling 2 holes also possible. So its up to you dhanz. If you wanna save the hassle and leave it also can
  8. Abit more costly by a few hundred ba... Anywayz you got do other reno works too right?
  9. What happened to the power outlet? No electricity?
  10. Yupz any glass maker. Okays ba wont be that ex. A few hundred will do but who's going to install for u? or u juz planning to put on top of ur coffee table? , Mike
  11. Yupz u r right. Have to use the super fine sandpaper sand the existing laminate down first. Then will the paint stay on. Or use a kind of primer to 'roughen' up the surface. Wellz as said protecting the existing items in the room might be more of the headache tho the cabinet doors can be removed and sprayed elseware. It's the rest of the laminated cabinet which will be an issue. , Mike
  12. Woah~ 33 years... wa then better rewire. Plaster see existing condition lo. If still okays (Which i doubt) then can save a bit lo. Somemore you not planning to stay long rite? I think the inflation quite alot over the years... material wise ba Workman also getting more ex too. Just look at the increase in levy for Malaysian workers to come into SG , Mike
  13. Hi Rob, You've got any pictures of your balcony area? 2 feet is like 600mm... enough? Oh and what kind of material you looking at? , Mike
  14. Hello! Welcome~ Actually ID/ contractor price shouldn't have no difference because i saw some forumers posting contractor price more ex than ID price LOL So i feel you should get a couple of quotes, compare them and also see if you feel comfortable with the person doing your reno lo before selecting And is that a bathtub in the common bath? Wow~ Have a smooth sailing renovation! , Mike
  15. Wa got teaching fees one leh. Each lesson bla bla bla... just kidding! Okays concealed piping is simply no access. Hidden behind a wall or tiles. This is not approve by HDB. Landed or condo still okays. Very common too. If got leakage means the whole wall or tiles have to come out, together with the piping la WC la, etc. Boxup is the accessible way either by using carpentry wood or partition wall. Can come with handles for opening and closing up to u. So to get to the leaking pipe juz simply open and close the boxup. If no handle then 'open' up the box lo. Hope this helps. , Mike
  16. Good luck and have a smooth sailing Renovation~ , Mike
  17. Hello sgling, aiyo~ you reposted at the same heading. Was thinking you can repost under Renovation forums in Renovation works Hmmm your cabinets look new leh... how come want the change? You dun like the color? Anywayz relaminating and painting over existing laminate has no guarantees on how long it can last. It depends alot on the existing conditions of the cabinets and the laminates, especially the edges and corners where is is easiest to wear and tear. Pros: - Cost saving as there is no need to change the whole cabinet Cons: - No guarantee - For relaminating, the thickness will increase thus might affect the opening and closing of the doors - If cabinets are built in, it will be hard to relaminate certain areas - For spray painting, lots of protection needed for the other items in the same area if cabinet is built in. - Spray painting can only change color but the design is still the same - Alot of limitations which can only be analysed upon seeing onsite condition/ situation Anywayz i'll be dropping by some carpentry workshop these few days so can find out more on this. Hope this helps. , Mike
  18. Raised platform at dining? woo~ you've got any dimensions you're looking at? Wellz it permissible by HDB but the cost will depend on the material you want to use and size of your platform , Mike
  19. Another em! Huge~ Welcome~ Have a smooth sailing renovation! , Mike
  20. Hi sgling, Welcome to Renotalk~ Anyway here's how u can upload photos. Go to http://imageshack.us/ or http://www.photobucket.com , upload your photos and click 'Host it' Copy the codes in the textbox entitled ' Thumbnail for forums' and paste them in your post. By saying formica you meant laminate right? Anywayz you can try relaminating or painting (spray painting nicer but more costly) them if the cabinets' carcass are still good. Do note that there are pros and cons to them alright? Oh ya. Maybe you should try posting under renovation works or under maintenance and repair. , Mike
  21. Actually hor... Standard size of laminates should be 4ft by 8ft so from the looks of ur pics... 1 piece should be enuf leh... Unless is the orientation issue but yet again the ID should have let you know de... I feel being knowledgeable is one thing cuz subsequently over the years in the same industry one will gain the necessary experience and knowledge. It's the service that counts and that's what many are paying for. As for the ID part, i suggest getting one or a renovator who is going to stick with you thru ur renovation. But ask them to give u progress updates every two or three days. Here's my for ur speaker cables. hehez get piece of right angled plywood (better) or those cable trunking (can try). Small one will do. Paste the same laminate design as ur TV console on it. Paste it on ur TV console after rearranging the wires nicely. Quite abit of work though. And also the cost of laminate, have to buy whole piece. , Mike
  22. Yupz maydream is right. Maybe double check with ur IDs/ Contractor just in case lo. , Mike
