  3. Hello! Looks reasonable. Some works are cheaper while others are slightly more expensive. So depends on quality and workmanship and service as well. Happy renovation! Have a smooth sailing one. Cheers, Mike

  5. Hi smilem, Welcome to Renotalk. hmmm... That dun look like the standard practice. I suppose the slab you are talking about is the mortar base where the kitchen cabinet sits on. There should't be any gap. The cabinet shld be laid flat on the base and sealed. Mike
  6. Heyz, Woah~ saw ur post on the flooring. Really needa change liao. Polyethylene sheet or film is a form of vapor barrier, for damp proofing. A must if not moulding occurs over long period of time lo... Couple of things to note tho. Make sure your contractor clear all dirt and debris and also check the levelness of the floor, before putting the vapor barrier. High spot - grind, Low spot - fill. Oh the measurements and trimmings as well if needed. Cheers, Mike
  7. Wow what a unique and nice layout! Can have many different design ideas! I like the original cozy woody feeling. But if you changing 1 wallpaper than it will be better to change all the rest, at least to similar tone color and pattern like the laminates if you keeping them. Actually you might want to keep the cozy a bit dim feeling. Juz add some warm lightings and maybe addition white bright lightings for cooking purposes. Cooking = bright lights, dining = warm lights. Anywayz, happy renovation! Cheers, Mike
  8. Oh ya forget to say! Happy renovation! Hahahaz Cheers, Mike
  9. Hello~ Top and bottom kitchen cabinet? And what kind of workscope for ur bathrooms? Tile laying? Vanity cabinets? Plumbing? Many works, different contractors;) Happy renovation! Cheers, Mike
  10. Yupz agreed. Dimension required to give a better estimate quote. And another is whether the tiles cost are included as well in the laying part. Cheers, Mike
  11. Wow... looking at the amount of work... you got a deal man. Cheers, Mike
  12. Actually hor casa, there is one good thing about 3 room lol. especially the older flats. The kitchen is HUGE. Great for cookers like me ;p hahaz Cheers, Mike
  13. Heyz storm, Actually i feel hor... It also depends on the chemistry between you and the ID too. More chemistry = easier to communicate ma means can convey messages to him/her better also. Cuz i think so far the house owners i met and heard about all asked about site coordination and stuff. Important la... It is always good to have someone there to look after your reno rite? or at least a frequent update on the progress? Many other things count too like service quality, etc. Oh and of cuz the workmanship. Better quality material and workmanship more ex lo. Apple to apple comparison theory as many would say. Erm usually electrical works is also quoted de... at least for mine. Dun dilemma this is part of the reno journey! Have fun dude! Cheers, Mike Wellz my a little bit of advice.
  14. Hello! No cheapo la i also staying in 3 room flat where got cheapo lol. Anywayz Have fun renovating your house! Cheers, Mike
  15. Go to phiphi islands. Experience the speedboat ride. **** exciting. And of cuz not forgetting the clear blue water, white fine sandy beaches, snorkelling kayaking bla bla. Simply love ans miss it. Btw I went 1.5 years ago. Cheers, Mike
  16. Hi pacificblue, PD doors can be so called invented and manufactured in Singapore. Main idea to this type of door is the amount of space saving ba as it's movement is half that of normal swing doors. The sliding part is also trackless or railess as it's hidden - easier maintenance. Over the years, our homes are getting smaller and smaller. Can easily see when you compare old to new flats. Mainly due to land scarcity in Singapore. As for the getting loose part, I would say all equipments will eventually come to be like this ba. The key i believe is to prevent and maintaining them to make them last longer:) and of cuz check the warranty the supplier is giving cuz sometimes is really faulty equipments la hahaz. Check out this 2 websites. Quite a handful of info on Swingslide doors or PD doors as many call them. http://www.pddoor.com/ http://www.swingslide.com.sg/ Cheers, Mike
  17. Hi keepsimple, I would suggest asking your ID or renovator what they will and gonna do. Because it will all come down to the pricing as screeding definitely will require more work, which means more expansive. By the way, i also just pass by this thread and saw your post. hahaz:) Cheers, Mike
  18. Took my display pic in Sapa, Vietnam. This little girl is so happy juz having a pencil and book to scribble on. =)

  19. Hello pikungmama, Main things you stated are carpentry works. 15k should be okays under normal circumstances unless you have special requests or design. But it is still best to know the dimensions to get a better idea on the pricing. Check with several IDs and get a comparison to know more. Happy renovation! Cheers, Mike

  21. Hello Earthalim, Welcome to renotalk. I'm new too! Hahaz have fun doing renovation. It's an experience. Cheers, Mike
  22. Hi bobbyllx, Welcome to renotalk, I'm new too! I reckon you should check with your ID how often is he/she gonna update you on the progress. Best is at least 2days per update. I have seen many issues occurred due to miscommunication so speak with your ID more often and convey what you really want for your home to him/her. Cuz rework is costly and time consuming. Of cuz always drop by your renovating home when you have the time to take a look at the progress and workmanship. Hahaz have fun renovating your home! Cheers, Mike
