  1. After reading all your posts and exchanges with bb, i am even more convinced that you are or linked to James Tey the disguntled ex-employee of bb. You use the same phase "what goes around comes around again" mentioned by bb. Hmmm. James? You keep attacking them and said you are consumer , got quote from them, then say expensive, and when bb replied you, you beat around the bush and just repeat the posts which may also be planted by you in the first place, which consumer will do all that if they got nothing against them personally? And then you started to say I and bb is the same! Haha! If you are James, You may have forgotten that I nearly signed up with your company 9 Degrees at Enterprise One for some carpentry, we also got quote from bb at that time. Your salesman, Raymond or something that said a lot of bad things about bb. I signed up with bb steven because of the mess I saw in your showroom - it is not completed, things have fallen from your ceiling partition lights holders. How can I trust my reno to 9Degree if they cannot even get that right. I think I made the right choice and yes I advertised for them because they are good. I also advertise for *, Darwin and so on. I don't say good things about you because you seems to have a personal agenda against bb and it is very clear from your posts! I only know from visiting barouche, a ID next to 9 degree that when I realized that the company Closed suddenly! They told me that they heard some clients or staff were complaining loudly in 9 Degree showroom. anyway, whether you are James or not don't bother me. If you are James, I think you won't last very long in this industry if what bb posts about you are true. Consumers if going to Tradehub better check if the boss of the ID is call James or surname Tey. Be careful, don't be the next collapsed ID victim of this group of people.
  2. Sorry your are right for some classifieds. i forgot my own experience, i also got hit before by an uncle who quote me very expensive for a plumbing choke and i did not want to do it. He refused to leave my house until i paid him $50. i got to call the police to get him out.
  3. $50 per contact very exp. just go to the classified. they are probably all there. with the exception of curtains, lighting fixtures, taps and sanitary ware. I suggest you get some quotes from ID, if you pressed them hard enough if you know how, you could get the job done cheaper than you were to do it yourself and save yourself the headache, the leave you have to take to supervise the work, open the doors, wastage of materials, etc. The prices that contractor that will charge you will not be at the prices they gave to IDs, it is alway higher. you also pay for any extras modifications along the way if you make a mistake as some contractors may not tell you everything unless you are very experience. from your lack of contacts tells me that you are a novice. so dont try. every trade got its secrets!
  4. Silicon is probably your best solution now if he is willing to do it. a lot of contractors are like that, after taking your money, hack care already. How to complaint to his boss, he is the boss.
  5. carpenters or even tilers, especially from Malaysia don't like modifications, they consume a lot of time so they prefer not to get involve compared to new construction where they make more money i suppose. Go back to the carpenter which did the feature wall for you and get him to rectify it. Hopefully, you can still locate him. if he is from Malaysia factory without factory in Singapore, good luck to you. He cannot and would not be interested to solve your problems as he cannot just bring a few planks and tools from Malaysia to fit out your problem. He needs a large or full lorry load of carpentry to justify his trip. IDs with Singapore carpentry sub-contractors or better still with their own factory is probably the best bet for after sales service and modifications like yours.
  6. Agreed with you, referral is by far the best lead for any sales, be it renovation or other industry. Go with the person you are most comfortable with. See his ongoing sites/work. I have been in sales in industrial products for many years. In that industry, it is probably not so complex as renovation where there are a lot of crooks around since there is very little barrier to enter the business and the money is big. I met a lawyer who told me that many profit sharing salesman or even ID, mostly small ones with no office or support staff ran away with clients money. The casino is probably a big draw for these contractors. You saw in the papers, contractors bosses asking their indian workers to go and gamble for them. if the salesman ran away and the ID is big, the company will most likely to cover the losses of the clients. For the small firm, it might sink them or the ID might want to start another one to avoid paying the losses of the clients. Bottom line is pay direct to the company by cheque, never pay cash to the salesman name even if he tells you all the stories that he need to draw the cash now to pay the contractors to start work immediately or give you a discount if you pay him directly. Cheques payment make a financial paper trail to support your case if something goes wrong and you have to go to court to cover your losses. These dishonest salesmen, some of them very experience, usually end up in jail for CBT. Plenty of such cases said my lawyer friend. Don't forget, the salesmen or referral may have done a good job before, he can change with the casino around. Be safe is better than be sorry. For me, the minimum for my contractor is that I must see an office or a showroom with support staff, designers, admin, better still factory, warehouse, etc. Referral with the above infrastructure, better still. That is probably the reason why bigger firms like *, Darwin, Chew, so on is around year in and out. The smaller ones need some niche selling points or he has very strong referrals in place like insurance salesman who needs about 400 clients to stablised his referral leads.
  7. Try maxim in midviewncity Jennifer tan 90080759. They do Korean wallpapers.
  8. Probably safest choice since never heard of accoya wood. Let someone try first, perhaps big developer. It is probably a chemical treated wood. Or it might be a hard outdoor wood. If it is soft don't use, even if it chemical treated for outfpdoor use. They dents too easily. Popular hard woods used for decking besides composite, are chengal, iron wood, merbau and Balau. Other woods i heard is from indonesia, kempas, but i have never seen such decking installations. I am attracted to composite up is the clip system without nails is the wood tops. natural wood is nice but need to maintain. Make sure the decker stain the wood on the underside too. Water base stains from europe are the best.
  9. My friend is looking for a very high end main door for a large landed property. They are not interested in solid wooden door, stone, veneer door or laminate door. Anyone got solutions pls pm me. This.
  10. Do you have fan with led centre lightings. Must be quite bright, good motor and comtemplorary in design. White or silver colour. Good price? Pls pm me. Thanks.
  11. Anyone out there who knows companies like Acacia Fabrics and or can start some group buying for curtains. They got very nice fabrics and not sure if they make finl curtains. I need to buy for my new condo. I saw some groups doing group buying for decking. How about curtains and Korean wall papers? I heard people going to Malaysia to buy, but not sure which shop is reliable.
  12. Just want to check if any one has done their kitchen with stickers, decals or printed films behind the tempered glass for kitchen back splash glass? Any picture to show or if the heat from cooking can affect te colors or stickers after sometime? Thinking of doing that?
  13. Wow you seems to know so much and gets very aggressive for a silent reader! In his first post in the forum he immediately complained that i advertise for Lamidoor. Then he said they are the same company and boss. Wow know so much insider info. Later he said their carpentry is indeed cheap but other stuff is expensive. How do you know it is cheap if you are not someone from the industry. Silent reader my foot! It seems that he has probably no answer to their internal laminate strategy. Only someone still in the renovation industry or definitely looks like a disgruntled ex-employee that probably got fired or something like that or hate the company or boss so much so that he will get so personal in his attacks. In this forum, every company seems to have bad reviews. Some are probably real, many are probably baseless. Look at many of the more prominent IDs, big or small, all got wacked. That is how forum works. I did my carpentry in internal laminates and they are cheap and good. I pay and they deliver. I don't care what some guys with some hidden agenda siad. I do my due diligemce. I visit their ongoing sites, their factory, showroom, talk to their clients and see their quality before making decisions. That is the fact that they have a unique superior product - internal laminate cabinets. You also confirmed that their carpentry is cheap. Nothing wrong in using that winning strategy since they import their own laminates. Different comanies have different strategies in the market place. Only those who spend time attacking others without developing any unique selling points or strategies for their companies will see their business declined, then get bitter and eventually fail. I am wondering, how can their hardware, sinks, taps and sanitary wares be expensive when they import, distribute and deal directly with end customers. You got check their prices or not or are you just bullxxxxing that you got a quote from them. Quotations are free anyway from them or other IDs. Get a quote and compare or believe this disgruntled guy. From his immediate reaction, he is probably be amongst the group that left Blve to form 9 Degrees Design which closed suddenly in less than 6 months. Not a very good track record indeed on the leader, James Tey's resume. I think Blve boss should thank God that they left. Who needs employees like them! Would you trust your renovation to them? Beware!
  14. you mentioned that they run away with the money. Please provide proof and the police report. If this is true, they would have closed shop and their showroom. The answer to you is very simple in addition to the earlier reply suspecting that you are James Tey or his team at the real ID, 9 Degree Design who closed suddenly after only 6 months or less. Can you find a ID or carpentry contractor who can offer: Kitchen cabinets, upper and lower cabinets say 20 ft run with the following specifications: 1) Exterior in High Pressure Laminate (HPL) laminate finish, 0.7 to 1.0 mm thickness. 2) Interior in High Pressure Laminate (HPL) laminate finish, 0.7 to 1.0 mm thickness. NOT PVC PLYWOOD INSIDE. PVC film glued on plywood is only about 0.2 mm and easily cuts, scratches, turn yellow, absorb moisture and promotes bacterial growth if they are penetrated. That is why the typical sink cabinet smells and the doors tend to have hinge problems or wood rot problems. NOT POLYGON LAMINATE INSIDE (POLYGON paint coating in time flakes, turn yellow, particle very static and sticks to plates, bowls, etc. in order of accending quality and price - PVC, Polygon, HPL laminates. 3) High quality Soft closing hinges for all doors. 4) High quality Stainless Steel Soft closing hinges for all doors or carcass in sink and vanity cabinets. 5) High quality chrome finish Under-mounted Soft Closing Drawer Slides (Excel, Brum, Revo or similar) for all drawers. NOT THE SIDE MOUNTED FULL EXTENSION DRAWER SLIDES IN BLACK OR CHROME FINISH. Under mounted drawer slides cannot be seen at the side of the drawers. it is nicer and can easliy remove the drawers to clean your cabinet inside or take out anything that accidentally dropped inside your cabinets. They are stronger than side mounted slides. You can clean the drawers without using a vacuum or wet cloth. 6) Original 18 mm thickness door panel plywood (NOT 15 MM PLYWOOD USED BY MANY CARPENTERS). If you add the laminate thickness of 0.7 to 1.0 mm laminate plus your PVC/Polygon or HPL laminate inside. 7) All doors edges in good quality ABS edgings by Sunyu or LTS, the 2 largest and best edging companies in Singapore. Sunyu uses Doeken, one of the best German edgings in the world. All of the above specifications written ia a formal quotation and not just 1 line description quotation of "20 ft kitchen cabinet in ABS finish, in solid plywood for $xxx.". Put the specifications down on the contract so cannot dispute if they are not given when 90% of the money is in the ID or contractor bank account. All the above for kitchen, from items 1 to 7 for market rate of $100 to $120 per foot run with NO OTHER RENOVATION ITEMS TO SUBSIDIES THE KITCHEN. 'Andreja' please find me any company who can do that, i would be very please to see and recommend. So far, Lamidoor can do it. I am looking for more companies to compare and have more choices for my fellow forumers. I am only sharing a good offering from Lamidoor whilst 'Andreja' is just attacking without any alternative.
  15. I am just sharing my good experience. You meant if anyone just put in a few post and so cannot share. You also have only a few post and all your posts is about this company and why you hate this company so much. Let me guess, you must be one of the ex-employees or even James Tey himself or his guys who left *** together with him when he got a big investor to give him shares and started 9 Degrees Design in Enterprise One. Then subsequently, 9 Degrees closed shop suddenly in just 6 months or less. God know how many clients they put in the fix or ran away with their money. These are probably clients they got when they advertised in the papers and done several Expo trade shows. They tried to offer the same laminate inside product strategy to hit Blve at a lost probably since their other reno items are more expensive to cover. They got no factory to support them and no direct import of laminates to reduce costs, so they move back to PVC plywood like every other ID in Singapore. There is nothing wrong with PVC except the quality of PVC vs laminate is heaven and earth. If PVC is so good, why not use it on all the exterior doors. Which ID is willing to do that and offer warranty. The truth is *** is still around, doing well I guess as they are very busy since they offer the "any colour, pattern, wood grain laminate for all cabinets (shoe, kitchen, wardrobe, study, etc.) at PVC Prices". Their factory and their large showroom in Arumugam Rd and their product distribution companies are still around. They distribute, import directly and sells their own brand of laminates, kitchen and wardrobe accessories, furniture hardware, taps, sinks, sanitarywares, bathroom accessories, etc. I have not come across any ID firm in Singapore with similar setup - ID,own carpentry factory and own product importation like laminates. I think it is very simple. The forum is where anyone with their own agenda and interests share their experience, true or not, no one will know except themselves. You believe what you want to believe. Just like what the bible said, test the spirit. Test the IDs or contractors. If you are the design type, work with the IDs you are most comfortable with that designs your dream house. Of course, their prices are usually higher. *****, ** are some of such companies. Large ones like * (you need to find the experienced ones), Chew, U-Home, Idea Classic and Weichen are some of the better IDs. * is very competitive if not for their PVC plywood internals. On the same tone with any IDs, do your own due diligence. Steps like those below will help: 1) Visit Renotalk or other forums, read as much as you can. You can be very knowledgeable after that so IDs cannot smoke you left and right. 2) Send an enquiry through the forum and get as many quotes as possible to compare. 3) Visit them in their office or better still their showroom. In Singapore, showrooms or offices, especially large ones are costly to maintain, so if the company has not those kind of resources, they are usually If no office, be careful, if they ran away with your money, God help you. Never pay cash/cash cheque to the sales persons or even the owners. Always pay to the company, cross the cheques. If you don't have cheques use a banker cheques to the company name. You have better legal and police recourse if they ran away. 4) See their portfolio and their designers, talk to them if possible. Make sure they know their stuff. Some sales people don't know a thing. 5) At their showroom, ask as many questions as possible. See their setup, offices, display, samples, etc. 6) See their factory if possible. See their quality there, talk to the carpenters there. See their materials and factory organisation. Talk to the factory manager. Ids with factories don't close so easily. Many IDs don't have factory and rely on carpentry sub-contractors which is fine if they manage them well or have good sub-contractor which you don't know until the carpentry reach your house. By that time, it might be too late as they would have collected about 90% of your money already. 7) Get a quote. Make them specify in their quote all the materials they would use on their quotations to avoid arguments. Information like tile costs, where they buy their tiles, solid surface and granite from, whether they use Malaysian tilers (Chinese tilers are not very good), carpentry (the plywood use, thickness of doors, laminates, inside materials of cabinets (pvc, polygon or laminates in that order of quality, durability and looks), hardware use, soft closing, under-mounted drawer slides, any stainless steel hinges or hardware use, how they construct their cabinets, etc, sanitary wares, sink, taps, etc.(what brands), paints, etc. Compare their quotes. Ask for things or lengths/sizes that you may or not renovate or increase just in case you change your mind and then they up the price later for these items. 8) Get them to see some of the houses they are renovating, not just finished ones. Talk to the owners if possible. Owners don't have to side them. 9) Monitor the project very closely. Be reasonable and nice, but make a stand if you got a point or problem they have to resolve for you. 10) Enjoy the process and no need to be stressed. If you are comfortable with the IDs, the design, setup and materials, go with your decisions and due diligence test results. So i questioned the true agenda of lejosef or those forumers who don't identify themselves or have something against one company or others and yet do not provide proof of wrong doing, etc.

  17. Spray paint is ok for dry kitchen. If you do heavy cooking, heavy usage, then not so suitable as the coating will wear off and turn ugly soon. I doubt paint can withstand the heat near the oven or hob. Alternative...you can go for laminate high gloss, even thicker laminates. For black lines coverage use abs throughout... Expensive? Ask yr ID. If you go for high gloss acrylic doors with equivalent acrylic edgings (not joint edges visible like laminates unless you are using solid core which is expensive), they are also not scratch resistant, but certainly better than spray paint. Acrylic have limited colors with white and black which I consider most beautiful. Acrylic also not cheap. So is good quality PU spray paint. Can share how much they charge you? Also spray paint they are probably using MDF board which is not suitable for kitchen or high moisture areas coz they expand like chip board. To see acrylic kitchens, go to lion building, there are some on display.
  18. $70K Reno cost should be about there. My friend with maisonette in Hougang got quote for about $58K which includes all tilings, carpentry, 3 toilets and kitchen remake, sanitary ware wc, basins, sink, taps, plumbing, electrical, hood, hob, painting, false ceiling, some walls hacking and erection. He still hv to buy sofa, lights, etc. Forget about those big names Id, especially those with lucky draws which you are paying for it. Deal direct or see the experienced manager or better still the boss, who knows coz when you got problems, you can get help. At least get their phone numbers especially the owner. Most cheating cases happened when clients think the sales guy is the owner or partner. Some junior designers or more like car sales men don't know anything and just push packages. Anything outside the packages they are likely to chop you. So ask them to quote all the things that may do in extra lengths, pcs of lights for example or get them to commit in their quotation and the right to reduce sizes or length. Some very smart sales sign your contract very cheap and then bill you very high for modifications and additions when the Reno started. So list and get quote on everything to play safe. Appoint ID that have own carpentry factory as usually their prices can be flexible as factory already got profit margin so they quote contractor prices and not ID prices if they want. ID without factory don't have this flexibility as they need to markup the prices quoted by their carpenter contractor. Those with Malaysia factory are the ones you need to be careful because of after sales support. They need a full load of cabinets to be cost effective. They can't take one piece of wood from Malaysia with their tools to go to your house and fix your problem if it arises sometime years down the line. That is if the ID is around. They open and close easily. Look at the one set up by a former manager from chew interior, James Tey. He started 9 Degrees Design Pte Ltd in Enterprise One, big showroom with some big investor for just 6 months I think and then close suddenly recently. Now he probably starting another ID somewhere. His sidekick, Alicia Hsia, also formerly from chew interior, is seen working in Seng Kwong with nice showroom in commonwealth. This bad mouth woman is well known in the industry for hot temper with lots of xxxx. The other sidekick, kannie wong with a police report (can see online) against him for cbt and violence is back in chew. Not surprise, 9 Degree close after a few months. Pity those who sign up reno with 9 Degree. Bottom line if you don't trust the sales person or the company, don't sign. So what after sales service promised by these people or those 5, 7 years guarantee are All bull**** and sales talk. ID with factory can't close so easily. I think so and hope so. Some ID of course say their carpentry contractor factory is their factory and some even put the address on their name card. Best bet is check the acra search or get them to show you who is the shareholder director of the factory, are the same as the ID? Does the factory have a sign board logo. Is the logo or company name of the factory on the ID name card? Have fun and relax.
  19. Why not check out a Reno quote from this contractor, 90054593, Simon from Lamidoor. I got my bathroom accessories, sink, taps, basin free "FOC" included in the Reno quote which is also very good since they have own carpentry factory.
  20. Call the director, 90054593 info@lamidoor.com or call their factory mgr directly 9388 1826 Yuri Tan, very attentive responsible and knowledgeable contractor. With those prices what do you expect. If you go to a nice food stall, we also got to queue. I know their full laminate inside kitchen with all soft close hinges, 4 stainless steel soft close hinges, any in-house laminate Inside and outside, soft closing under mounted drawer slides, 18 mm door wooden plywood ... is going for promotion at $110 per foot run if you are only doing kitchen. if you are doing full house renovation, the prices can be very interesting with wc, sink, taps, basin, basin taps,... thrown in FOC. They have a group company selling full range of taps and bathroom, hoods, hobs, ovens stuff. For example rain shower with shower head, instant heater for $320. Their Reno prices for wet works, ceiling, etc. are also not expensive and workmanship good. Overall value for money if you appreciate internal laminate cabinet which last much longer than the white PVC cabinets which every contractor give. If you are the very atas seeking branded top design firms or ID with awards, big advertisements, lucky draws, etc, preferring to pay a lot for your Reno, then stick with them as they are very good, except pay more lah, but still get only PVC colour or at most polygon spray painted ( they flake and loose powder... With time) plywood cabinets, a lot inferior than full laminate inside and outside cabinets by Lamidoor. if you already know what you want, they are perfect. They can design, but needs time like other ID. it is hard to find even an ID willing to do just kitchen with colored PVC for $110 per foot run, not to mention including the soft closing hinges and under mount slides, stainless steel hinges which I think they are the only one offering this. You can see an example of rusty hinges in most homes. Their website have some examples. Www.lamidoor.com
  21. You are wrong bro. Everything inside and outside the cabinet are in laminate - the back panel, cabinet sides, shelvings top and bottom, doors front n back, of course with abs edgings. Yes, the Internal is definitely HPL laminate! Wood grain and you can choose any laminate in wood grain color or their patterns. Normal laminates that you find in those laminate books samples. The guy assure me it is laminate and ask us to use a coin or key to press against the laminate to see if it can be dented. It does not. He said PVC plywood dents. Brand I think is donotti and very nice. Reno done by Lamidoor www.lamidoor.com Call 90054593 Simon Call him lay if don't believe and I know they are very busy. They also stock and sell sanitary ware, sinks, taps, bathroom accessories under another company call Best Price Taps.. Showroom in Arumugam rd. This is found on their website ---- "We mainly use 18 mm thickness + 0.8 mm laminate front and about 0.8/0.7 mm laminate back solid wooden door panel. All our carpenty comes with high quality soft closing hinges and slides (side or under-mounted) without any extra charges. Our vanity and sink carcass comes with stainless steel soft closing hinges to combat humidity and moisture in the area. We are one of the very few carpentry firms in Singapore with a hot press for lamination, thus ensuring superior high quality of our doors and laminate gluing. For internal laminate cabinets, we are currently the most competitive company. Internal laminates cabinet especially for kitchen are hightly favoured for long lasting kitchen surfaces inside the cabinets in kitchens, wardrobes, shoe cabinets and other carcass storage units."
  22. Never engage a contractor if they don't have office, showroom or factory. If they take your money and run, you will have hard time finding them. Cheap can be costly!
  23. Normal pricing good guide. But found one contractor who can do casement door wardrobe at $200 - $210 per ft and sliding wardrobe at $220 per foot. Laminates inside and outside, no PVC white or color, no polygon. Solid plywood. Abs trims, 19-20 mm incl laminates both sides door plywood. Under mounted drawer slides. Soft closings for all doors. Malaysian carpenter. Pm me if you are keen.
  24. You can look for direct factory contractor, Lamidoor with factory in Sungei kadut (Mr Yuri Tan 9388 1826 yuritan84@gmail.com) for your home, retail or office carpenty works. They make cabinets with full laminates inside and outside at very good prices or PVC prices. So far i have not found any contractor with their prices. Kitchen and wardrobe come with all soft closing hinges and under mounted slides, laminate inside (many colours or wood grains) and outside, ABS trimmings, even taps and sinks.
