  1. Hi Need help from home owners who have installed glass doors at their home. 2 years ago, I have installed sliding glass door separating kitchen n living room. One panel is fixed while e other is not. E thing is, 2 days back e metal plate guide has dropped slightly showing e screw plugs which r supposed to hold it to e ceiling. We only realised that red plastic screw plugs were used after e metal plate dropped. E door is for daily use n we thot something more durable should be used. We called our id consultant who is in a midst of fixing an appt with e supplier to get it fixed of coz with a price. What I need to confirm is if e plastic screw plugs used for installing heavy glass doors e usual normal safe practice? Glass panels r heavy n being used daily, there are bound to be some wear n tear. But if plastic screw plugs will be used again to fix it, I'm sure e problem will recur n maybe worse, e whole thing will collapse. So, anyone with glass doors have any suggestions or know what durable tools should to be used instead. Thank you in advance.
  2. Oh my! I've been missing from renotalk for a while n u r up with ur completed home.. Love everything about e layout of ur home.. Simple n chic
  3. Not sure abt e boxes.. We actually ordered from http://www.cartonboxrental.com/ b4 we surveyed for movers not knowing movers do provide boxes for rental.. Gonna resell e used boxes to them as they accept if e boxes r still reusable ..
  4. Moving in is no easy feat..esp e cleaning n unpacking.. Still have a few last stuff to unpack..furniture all arranged as planned, floors not as dusty as b4... But e aftermath is ... Massive aching in E.V.E.R.Y part of e body.. We r using our less than 6 mths old sofa, tv console n girl's bedroom set n it was mind boggling trying to fit those in this tiny space.. These furniture which look normal in our previous unit suddenly grew bigger n look huge in our current crib. Fortunately, it is usable n we need not fork out more after splurging on our reno n other expenses.. Will have e glass door workers coming in later in e day for final touches after e tiler replaced e broken tile near to e glass door area.. Will have to remember to call for gas or stove will be on holiday.. Haven bought my rice cooker yet after husb threw e previous one which is still working due to lack of storage space.. Hoping that husb can still hammer some nails to hang our pics.. Will upload more pics when house is so called settled.. Anyway, got a pleasant surprise on our 1st morn at e new place.. A hamper from husb's co for his recent accident.. Coincidentally , it was delivered on his bdae on Labour Day.. Poor deliveyman working on a PH.. Making use of e flowers to brighten up my kitchen..e rest of e kitchen area is unviewable due to e mess
  5. Hi Aya Sorry for e late reply..has been hectic since e official move on Monday.. also, thanks for e concern..all is fine, thankfully.. It's great to have frens in renotalk who show concern..appreciate it much.. As for e clips or hinges on e glass door, our ID claimed it is e standard installation as ours is made of 1 fixed panel n 1 movable one n e length of e entire glass is not e total width of e living room as we didn't hacked e full wall length. I did also search thru old blogs in renotalk n saw few pics of glass door with e same type of hinges. Hopefully it will stay that way for long..thou my son has a minor accident earlier by knocking himself on e glass door..gonna get decals soon to make e glass door more obvious when closed Been our 2nd nite here n it seems e aircon in e living room is doing its job well by cooling e area. So I guess e gap doesnt make much of a big issue as there's a false ceiling next to it.. Will definitely ask u for e contact of p/t cleaners should e contact I have is not available.. As for now, since we moved in, we did managed to clean e place up on our own with e help of my mum too.. Not as sparkling as i would want to but ok-to-live-in condition.. Thanks for e tip as well for e cabinet smell.. I actually try placing charcoal in e cabinet as per tips in google..then, husb wiped e inners with lavender scented Fabuloso..n me being me, had to have e last touch up with dettol..now it seems e smell is gone
  6. Hi Reiki Thanks for ur concern n sorry for e late reply.. Really has been hectic these few days but thankfully all is fine.. Also, thanks for e pic..nice kitchen ur fren has there.. I guess e gap really didn't make much of a big issue.. It's our 2nd nite here already n it seem e aircon in e living room is doing its job well cooling e area
  7. Yup..I got their mattress as well.. N I'm practically climbing up my bed every nite..but I managed to store quite a big of stuff so I guess I can live with e climbing
  8. Hi there.. Sorry for e late reply.. Each full load trip is $280.. It will be prorated if ur 2nd trip only used say 1/4 or 1/2 of e lorry load.. Can't really remember e exact amt charged but my husb was very impressed with their work that he gave quite a generous tip. I'm staying in e west side n I was using big orange storage space at bukit batok.. Surveyed around n found that its one of e reasonable rate available. U may wanna get quotes from other movers which also provide storage space but for us, we chose big orange due to its convenient location to our place. Hope e info helps
  9. Felt like I've had one of e longest day of my life.. Ferrying kids to n fro classes on separate timings, 3 visits to AH n yet not starting any cleaning at all as planned..let alone having our virgin nite at our new place.. husb had a mishap at work n thus was warded for observation for almost a day.. Fractured one of his finger bone on his right hand..wonder how he's gonna move stuff around to accommodate e cleaning of e rooms later in e day Just gotta take it slow n easy I guess.. Anyway, I'm still gonna proceed with my major clean up..e floors r super dusty.. Glass door n table top r up today..of coz with faults that need to be rectified.. Some pics for updates.. Table top..supposed to be a switch from e diamond series to pure white due to no stock but I think I still c sparkles.. Glass door..noticed e gap at e top..just hoping it doesn't affect e aircon in e living room much.. Dunno how else to minimise e aircon escaping to e kitchen..
  10. Things came to a halt today.. Table top r up along with e glass doors.. Unfortunately, we can't do any cleaning today as husb had a minor accident at work earlier.. Had a cut at e back of his head n fractured one of his fingers on his right hand..Just got back from fetching him from e hosp after almost a day of observation.. Hopefully it's a blessing in disguise.. Gotta start my major clean up tomoro.. E flooring r super dusty even after e cleaning done by e worker on Thursday.. Btw Aya..I notice e unbearable smell in e bottom kitchen cabinets after e table top were installed. E smell wasnt there yest.. Do u encounter e same? If so, what did u use to get rid of e smell? TIA
  11. Wow Aya.. Still awake at 3am? Hehe.. Yup, planning to have our virgin nite today.. Kids r complaining of heat n missed their cartoon on cable for almost a mth already.. Mover n other furniture will be sent on mon.. It's either more clean up or celebration on Labour's Day Hopefully it can be done if all planned reno works n rectifications can be finished.. Fingers crossed
  12. MBR Wardrobe that wasn't been delayed after all Our incomplete white kitchen..
  13. It has been a buzzing busy last few days to e reno process.. Of coz, with hiccups here n there n thus causing some delays.. But we r determined to not let anything ruin our plans for e move-in over e weekends. Our kitchen cabinet installation which started only on Wednesday was delayed due to e leaking gas pipe. It was alarming as we thot since we r not using city gas, there isn't any pipes to begin with. It was actually due to e gas pipe that was linked to our unit from e unit below. Our kitchen cabinet was only completed today as e city gas tech only managed to resolve e leakage on thurs noon. However, e tabletop will only be in by tomoro..fingers crossed. Only thing is our initial choice of white from e diamond series was not in stock or not enuf as what she indicated in her text to husb. So, leniently we decided on e next choice of colour - pure white.. Apparently, that was not e end to our reno woes.. Our ID dropped a major bombshell..by informing that our MBR wardrobe can only be completed by e following Monday due to some manufacturing delay. Of coz, we kicked a fuss.. a first during e whol reno process as we dun wanna any disruption to our planned move-in schedule. I wouldn't wanna move in when ppl r still going in n out of e house coz that would meant more clean-up. Finally, she managed to arrange for e 'skeleton' to be installed by sat n e doors only to be fixed by mon. Well, I can accept that kinda arrangement as e installation of e doors wouldn't make much of a mess. However, pleasant surprise it was when we found that alas she managed to get it done n completed by today itself.. Blinds were up today..our glass doors couldn't make it's way today as planned as e workers only came by at slightly after 5pm.. They had to carry e 2 panels separately using e stairs to our 11th floor.. Poor thing, since e lift couldn't accommodate e height.. Thus, they can't do any drilling since it was already evening time. Husb managed to seek his frens help to bring over most of our boxes from e storage place this evening..that would meant less cost for e mover to bring in e rest of our bulky items on mon. Again, keeping our fingers crossed..we r hoping everything goes smoothly tomoro for e remaining works.. Our kitchen table top, e glass door installation n minor touch up on wall plastering, painting, fixing of e bathroom n wc shelvings n sealing of some laminate flooring edges n carpentry. Really hope to be able to do our own major clean up on sat nite n sun b4 our other stuff n furniture deliveries comes in on mon. Till e next update, following r pics of what's completed..
  14. Hi there.. Can I check where u get ur decals from? TIA... Btw, lovely home
  15. Hi there, u can call Richard at 9111-4797. We used them when we were moving our stuff to a storage place last mth n will be using them again this Monday to shift the stuff to our new home.
  16. Hola.. It's gonna be e last week of reno..hopefully... Nothing much was done yesterday except for plumbing work n e tiler fixing a wall tile in e bathroom which we noticed a light hairline crack n a small dent. Suddenly, it felt like the whole process came to a standstill..maybe coz e weekend was just over n nothing obvious was seen in e unit yesterday. Anyway, we had grilles n bi-fold doors up today.. E differing design for the grilles by e corridor n e back is becoz husb said it would make any break-in from e corridor a bit difficult due to the design Hope to c e gate n carpentry tomoro..
  17. Hi there.. I've used seahorse storage bed frame for almost 5 yrs n it is still strong n sturdy. Only thing was the headboard was peeling. Not sure if it's coz we placed it near the window n it got exposed to sun n rain occasionally when we forgot to close the windows. Due to storage constraint while waiting to renovate our new home, husb got rid of it n we just bought a new exact same design for our new home..
  18. I'm glad too.. Quite thankful to her that we do not have to be there when the individual works or deliveries r done. Husb didn't need to take any leave during the reno period as yet n I didn't even go to the unit during the day. Our QC happens only when husb's back from work or on weekends.. I guess our reno cost is worth spending up to date.. Counting down now.. Hopefully there'll be no major hiccups
  19. Thanks Potatoes If everything goes as planned, bravo would go to our ID
  20. What a weather it was this morn.. Surprisingly, saw our unit's window opened from morn till abt 5pm from my mum's home..that would meant our home being worked on that long on a sat Progress for the last sat of our reno process..fingers crossed

    Blooming

Hi Bloom.. I'm new to RT n my home is in a midst of reno as well.. Our approval for hacking the wall between the living room n kitchen took more than a week or so.. Initially, we thot it could not be done coz we r on the highest floor..maybe due to wall structure or so.. Would be sad to change our plan when we did saw other units having their open concept kitchen. I guess they r just slow in the approval.. Btw, love ur unit layout n design planned. All the best in ur reno process.. Hope to c pics soon
  22. Actually, the pipes colour r nice..maybe just that it's a bit contrasting to the wall tiles.. But I think the more u look at it, the more nicer the colour appears to be.. I guess the paint catalogue dun do much justice to the actual colours. Actually, I dun remember selecting that kind of yellow for my bedrooms wall..just hope it wun be too unmatching to our dark tone laminated flooring when it's up.
  23. Hi Ayazumi.. I think so too n couldn't be more pleased When we were surveying for reno quotes, the other companies n even our ID told us it would take 6 weeks including carpentry for the whole process to be completed. Looking at how things r progressing, I agree that our ID can be considered efficient at arranging the schedules for the individual works to be done. Our AC appt was supposed to be on this coming Monday but she managed to liaised with the AC salesperson to get it done by Thursday. If all other works r as scheduled, she would handover our home by next thursday Hoping to move some stuff over the weekend n our mover will move the remaining stuff from the storage place on Monday. We have arranged other deliveries on Monday as well n hopefully by husb's bdae ie on Labour day, we will be so-called settled in our new home.. Of coz, along the way there r minor defects that we have noticed n informed the ID to rectify. It's really sad n scary to read up about some others reno experience where things dun go their way.. Looking forward to ur finished product too.. Excited much rite?
  24. Wow...loves the colour combi! If I have the space, would sure to go with such colours.. Loving ur open concept dish rack too
