If the gate is normally left open.. then the unit number is not easily visible. Same reason for those who stick onto the wooden door. Stick on gate also will cost more, since mounting not so easy.

This website got many pix of HDB main door grille. http://www.metalspecialist.com.sg/iron_gallery-gates.htm I think is quite fancy to put the Hse number next to the doorbell. dun need be big big 4 inch type. A humble 1 inch high lettering is enough for the most shoot bird visitor.

Insulation is important depending on the operating environment. If like typical use at nite type.. then not much significance. but if say. use 18 hr daily, use during hot time like in false ceiling on top floor, where temp is very hot, then insulation is very important. If not thick enough under severe condition, then sweating will occur. Sweating inside trunking.. = moldew stains, or worse, appear as water stain on wall. My aircon service guy always complain say my insulation feel like wet sponge. Is a scary thot what the sponge really looks like.

Thickness. ID is determined by the size of the indoor unit capacity. Actually, if really go follow manufacturer recommendation, aircon pipe in plastic trunking is considered severe condition, and wld require minimally 3/4 inch thickness. I went and kaypoh specify that.. wah... exposed trunking like elephant size.

Realistically, how practical is that? Everytime want to have dinner u have to adjust the table top and height. Then after dinner u have to fold back. Worse, if table got existing barang barang, need to find alternative place then can do the adjustment. Is better to have a proper rectangular dining table and put lockable wheels to roll to the side.

Hdb Flat - Can Bury Aircon Drainage Pipe?
yoongf replied to strawberry8's topic in Electronics & Electricals
In technical terms, concrete slab is the permanent structure of the building. On top of this slab, is where home owners add cement screed / waterproofing / tiles to get their desired design. This top layer is called the floor finish. Therefore, wad HDB is saying.. as long as u dun go hack off the concrete to the embed the pipe, then it is ok. -
Hdb Flat - Can Bury Aircon Drainage Pipe?
yoongf replied to strawberry8's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Concealing air-con discharge pipe in floor finishes = Reinforced concrete floor slab must not be tampered with The concealment must be within the floor finishes only http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/...ks?OpenDocument -
Strong Vibration From Water Pipe After Flushing The Wc

It is probably due to this problem, unfortunately, such device .. I yet to find where in Sg sells. http://wetheadmedia.com/how-to-install-a-w...-hammer-device/ -
Put anything there will kena soap scum, making it look messy and become a maintenance chore. Might as well just leave it alone. Hmm.. paste a mirror there instead? Easy to maintain, brightens the area, and can self admire?

I think she move only 1.5m, and using exposed trunking. Sounds more like on the same wall. U mentioned the walls are 5m apart, meaning opposite facing wall? Then the drain pipe hack the floor? and then retile granite/marble and polish? This one not considered aircon man job, more like reno contractor job liao.

The rationale for inverter savings is as follows. Under full load condition, inverter and non inverter no difference, as both operate the fan and compressor under full power mode. Under PARTIAL LOAD condition, non inverter cycle on and off the compressor and fan. whenever high load devices start, there is a spike in power consumption. Inverter simply slows down/speeds up the compressor and fan, avoiding the spiking current. Therefore, it's not so much the temp or the 24 hrs. If u undersize the inverter outdoor unit from the onset, then also no difference in power consumption.

Build a kerb around the shower area. Raise the level of the shower cubicle, just enough to fit a elbow+ pipe to bring the waste water to the floortrap.

Driveway & Car Porch Tiles
yoongf replied to Livinstyle's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Tiler shortcut is put adhesive in the middle, and press down, no guarantee the adhesive will spread to cover the entire tile. Meticulous tiler will spread adhesive entirely, then press down. But the speed of tiling is substantially different. Interlocking paver is normally laid on hardcore/granite chip only. There is no RC slab below. If want to tile need to lay full RC mesh first. Since going to spend so much, the tiling cost will be relatively minimal. -
Eh... I think u also have to make a decision on this. A rattling indoor unit.. to a technician is also considered good condition. If u need AC every nite, then is better to get new one. I rather have cement floor with aircon than timber strip with fan. To me, M&E shd not compromise. If budget tight, then is about only installing new AC for critical rooms, rather than reuse old one. Aircon lifespan is agar agar 10 years.

Driveway & Car Porch Tiles

Granite not necessarily bad. Those dark coloured ones.. even if kena oil stain, will not be easily visible. Put it this way, oil is penetrating. Even if use high gloss homogeous tile, if left overnite, the oil will still stain through. The solution is to choose a colour that is similar to effect of an oil stain. Porcelain tiles are basically tiles that have an added layer to get the desire texture/look. Not meant for heavy duty use. Actually, there are not many homogeneous tiles meant for driveway, as they have to be thick. If the tiler did not put 100% tile adhesive below, then high chance the corners will crack off. -
The condensate drain pipe is embedded into the cement screed floor/ wall. Condensate flows by gravity. It is not so simple, and may require hacking of floor tiles/ walls. Just for relocating aircon, u want to void waterproofing/ tiling/wall crack warranty? Indoor units are typically situated so that the condensate pipe length is minised. This is to avoid chokes, which are very common if the horizontal run is long and has very small gradient.

Driveway & Car Porch Tiles

My pebblewash... sigh.. algae keen growing, cos well shaded from the sun, and have plenty of plants. Can't use acid or clorox to wash, as the grass/plants bordering the driveway will die. End up have to pressure jet every 6 months. Those nice pebblewash floors usually have no plants and get full sun. If given a choice again, I wld be using these clinker tiles. http://www.mymml.com/products/sgr.asp Basically, they are 100mm X 100mmX 12mm thick homogeneous textured tiles. And I wld mix with some long granite slabs in some horizontal line patterns, like ION driveway. -
Maintaing Privacy For Corridor Units

It wld look weirder if u dun have grilles on windows facing common corridors. Most important is what the homeowner is comfortable with, and not wad others think. Do what u feel is right. -

Mit Starmex has an inverter model MXY-4A38VA which allows for a 10+10+10+18 combination and also has the current limitation model for HDB flats. My rationale is as follows: 1. Top floor means less sun shading from neighbouring blocks. <-- Worst cooling case 2. Inverter models can over-run, deliver more cooling per indoor unit than specified. 3. Guests come on = living rm aircon, means need big big cooling to impress. 4. Need largest outdoor unit due to current limitation + high ceiling. 5. Aircon is M&E item used daily, so should not compromise on quality.

Where To Mount Kitchen Tap/soap Dispenser
yoongf replied to froggy's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
High is good, but is the water spray aiming at the middle of the sink? If too high, and angle of spray cannot adjust, then the water will splash out to the user. Those taps whose spout is like a big question mark is ok as the water is aimed vertically down. But there are those that come out at an angle.
