ya.. indeed our MBR room is very small lor.. i wanted to hack the wall between the 2 bedroom to link them into 1 big room.. but wife was against the idea so in the end didnt proceed. if not.. can have bedroom and study room merge together.. and can make WIW with the enlarged space.. but that would mean another 4-5k of cost... and that is way over our budgeted amount.. -
It might be true that some ID/contractor quote dismantle/disposal by per unit lump sum, but it doesn't mean the other "some" will also quote their customers by lump sum. We have updated in our blog that it wasn't worth the effort to dismantle the wardrobes ourself to just save the $4xx to $5xx. In the end we also didn't save much because of the cost of debris bin. If you did follow our blog, u should know what I mean already.

hi Valerie, that pipe does not contain water and is a pipe for the water bubble and air to escape to the roof as there is a trap preventing the stinky air to come back into our house. but we dunno if HDB will approve us cutting off the pipe or not. i have seen a few examples of people removing the pipe to make their toilet more spacious before in the forum. forgotten where i saw it from.. if not can paste u the link. "The venting system, or plumbing vents, consists of pipes leading from waste pipes to the outdoors, usually through the roof. Vents provide a means to release sewer gases outside instead of inside the house. Vents also admit oxygen to the waste system to allow aerobic sewage digestion. Vents provide a way to equalize the pressure on both sides of trap, thereby allowing the trap to hold water, which is needed to maintain effectiveness of the trap." i cut and paste it from wiki.. lol. hopefully u understand what it is now. after reading what it's about.. i think mayb dont cut the pipe better.. in case next time the air pressure cannot release.. than our toilet clog... hahaha please correct me if i'm wrong -
lousy quality stainless steel will rust?
-
personnally, i feel that you should have made a long cabinet for the pipes in ur kitchen so that they are not exposed.. and can use the cabinet to keep the mop or bamboo sticks and stuffs.. or issit that the pipes are too near the window to conceal?

Yes. I agree some contractor doesn't mind small changes at all. But the items we cancelled was more than 3k. So I think its normal for him to wanna lock in his profit. -
Woah.. so how long will your reno take? looking for to your housewarming party.
-
love your toilet tiles your contractor left the pipe leaking and left??.... shouldn't they at least off the water supply before leaving?
-
=.=" both are 5 footers.. not so tall.. haha.. really is the floor height too short.. i cant touch my parent's ceiling.. but when i jump at my new place, i can almost touch it with my full palm.. if we were to get a ceiling fan, i think i might get hit by it when i jump..
-
maybe because they try to squeeze 13 floor into the building, that's why the ceiling is shorter than normal hdb by 10-20cm
-
love ya floor

erm.. when u call opennet to make an appointment. how fast is their response? i mean like how many days in advance do you need to call them in order to get them to come and fix on the date you want? my new home doesnt have opennet installed.. and i was thinking of getting them to come down to fix it.. (gotta pay $200+ coz the previous owner didnt get it installed for free and we missed the dateline for it)

Our floor and kitchen wall tiles were all chosen from Taugres. and only the kitchen floor tile was chosen from hafary. saw other forumer post on the uneven tiles they got from hafary and wanted to change the tile, but was told by kelvin that the probmatic tiles was discontinued. Hopefully everything turn out well. will post pictures of the tiles we selected soon. -

the initial quote was ok.. until my wife and i changed some items in our quote after we signed.. had to pay 15% penalty fee for removing a few items which we felt was not necessary. And adding a few more items to the quote later makes the price higher than what we had initial budgetd. kena robert also like that..we signed so LL liao.. that's when it inspired me to start my own renovation blog, to let other read and hopefully dont do the same mistake as me and my wife. paying the $$ wasnt such a big deal as it was our fault in the first place.. just hope that the renovation will go smoothly without anymore major hiccups. -
