  1. Thanks! Happy with my place... everything is functioning well.
  2. Aiya, sorry I havent been checking my thread.... I bought from Ban Nee Chen Nursery at Kovan market, the row of nurseries are very obvious. Ban Nee Chen occupies a large portion in the centre. Look for this Indian guy call Bablu. Just remember to negotiate & use my house as gauge! He had to go down to my place, take measurements etc. The carpet grass includes excavating the existing grass, laying sand and laying carpet. I must say that though I wasn't very thrilled with paying higher prices for him (of course he claims his is lowest, they all do), his guy did a good job in the landscaping... I see you have good progress on your house. Send my warm regards to the tilers! Esp Ah Keong... the tilers are very good.
  3. Hi shmj, ya it is quite long...but I can still only park one car le...unless its 2 jazz la. Hi Minerat, spent abt 1.7k in all... I'm not finished though, waiting for time to get some plants along the drain...
  4. Wallpaper from Goodrich is up too... This is a closeup of the textured wallpaper. Can't capture the colour and texture of the wallpaper properly with my iphone... this is my best effort.. A note to those who are installing wallpaper, do note the edges can contract, so if yours is coloured like mine, paint the base a similar colour. That's about all!
  5. Landscaping was done a few weeks ago, here are some pics: Removing the old grass & soil.. Covering the lawn with sand as a base for the carpet grass.. Finished! View from my terrace.. The cheerful group greets me everyday outside the gate...
  6. Wow, been so long since I checked back this topic and had to scroll way down to find my thread... Haha. I just wanted to do this for the timber deck uncle called Ah Zheng shifu. The deck is a fav of mine on wkends & I like how good it looks & how I didn't have to take extra care that my son doesn't scratch or damage the deck. For anyone who's interested to do decking, do consider using him. His materials are taken from Morganwu's company, and he charges a margin for the installation services. He is very detailed & meticulous in the installation, which accounts for the good workmanship. You can see more of my deck in his blog: http://ahzhengshifu.wordpress.com/ Do pm me if anyone has queries, as I will not be checking the thread often.
  7. 3 tier basket from Egg3...about $100+. An original art piece from a local painter... we had it reframed for a modern look to suit the house & the abstract style contrasting with the traditional chinese medium. We also just bought a solid oak dining table from Koda to replace the defective one currently being used. Looking forward to that!
  8. Just showing some of the purchases we made... Shelves from Grafunkt, bought at clearance price of $999. Love the matt black steel...plus the fact that its made for heavy loads. Solid beech wood chair from Grafunkt, slightly less than $300... my study chair. Sideboard from Koda, slightly less than $900.. made of solid oak. Solid oak frame, chair from Koda... $365. This was sitting in a corner in the warehouse... the salesperson had to dig out the price. Like the slight retro styling & the smooth edges... & most of all the fact it's solid oak.
  9. Hi matrix, thanks for ur compliments!
  10. Isit on YouTube? K I'll chk it out! Back to work liao so little time to do home decor stuff now...
  11. Has anyone tried painting blackboard paint yourself? I am pondering about doing that for my dry kitchen...
  12. ..installing awnings... ..awning for decking.. We're left with wallpapering, carpet grass & trees planting, & paint touch ups to be done this coming week... hopefully, by next weekend, we would be finally done!
  13. After moving in, we continued with the reno... such as installing decking... ...changing our main door... ... installing digital lock (by interlock from this forum)... ...flat roof jet wash... ..flat roof waterproofing...
  14. Hi there, sorry for late reply. The co's ANZ Home Furniture, we bought at the Taman Bt Indah branch: 61 Jln Indah, 16/12. You choose the required number of modules carrying the internal configurations that u want. There are about 6 choices of pretty decent laminates. & the internal covering seems better than white PVC but I'm not sure what it is. If u tompang their mthly deliveries to SG - which was what we did - u don't hv to pay transport. Only GST & one time levy.
  15. Hi there, tks! The table ah, looks nice but quality is not good, laminate peels easily & legs dent easily. So I won't recommend le & won't mention company name here. I am pending the furniture company to revert on their remedial actions actually. U can chk out Koda at Defu for their great looking dining tables made of solid wood tho. compared to mine made of mdf, KOda's are a better buy.
  16. Yeah u're right. But the blinds are really nice too, adds class to the room & low maintenance. Chk it out if u hv chance, it's PVC ones.
  17. Hi star70, u can approach Morganwu in this forum, his company does decking & parquet. Email is Morganwu@evergreenforest.com.sg.
  18. Tks! The installer was very detailed.
  19. I had originally wanted blinds but due to budget & time, went for curtains instead... glad it turned out nice. Fabric material is good & no need to iron. Service was prompt, installation smooth & quick. I believe I price is reasonable too altho I didnt really compare cos it's my aunt's regular curtain supplier & my parents recommend him as well. I would recommend them for curtains & PVC blinds.
  20. Hee tks May_dream! Glad I made this choice of timber...
  21. Tks casa! Besides hugging my parquet, I wld also need to hug the decking liao...haha. Can't wait to put my rattan chairs aft the 2nd coat next wk.
  22. My terrace decking... We were going to engage Morganwu to install a Balau deck, he happened to have some stocks to clear...then one day he called to tell me about one of his master installers leaving his company to do freelance, the stocks will still be supplied from his company. With his strong recommendation & a good price for Burmese teak, we agreed to be Zheng Shifu's 1st customer. Zheng Shifu going about his work, arranging the teak pieces to bring out the best of the grains in a "brick" style. Closeup of the teak. Each piece is wider than the usual used for decks, thanks to Morgan & Zheng Shifu. Teak on Balau frame... unfortunately, this is as good as it gets for now. 1st coat of finishing on a portion of the deck... I had grown to love the original natural raw tone & feel (bottom part) so kinda regretted choosing to finish it. Now we're waiting for the 2nd coat, post the complete deck when its done.
  23. Finally, my internet is up in my new house! Been staying here a week, & still getting used to it... me & hub both like crowds so kinda miss community life... However, we're definitely enjoying the space...& thankfully our neighbours are both warm & friendly, always saying hi & wanting to chat instead of being too private. K, some updated pictures! Dining table & chairs... the table came with plenty of defects though, so we're waiting to change. The wardrobe in my parents' room, customised by Malaysian furniture shop. Cost only about S$150pfr incl GST & levy. Shelves for storeroom, from Yee Sin at Defu. Very prompt, efficient service, they delivered on the same day, thumbs up for the 2 old uncles who setup for us. Bedframe from Getha. Bought this because it's child-friendly & the headboard is a removable latex cushion that can be used as a mattress... Headboard attached by velcro...
  24. Curvy wall shelf in toilet is not practical. U can't put books & it's too much for a display...how many thgs can u display in a toilet? The killer is the cleaning. Resorts can afford that cos they pay cleaners to clean. For the living room, I thought the black will contrast better with the floor, plus less common. White gloss is v common unless u use textured matt laminate?
