  1. no lah not ur eyes, i oso see white. dat's why i k-po went back to earlier pages to chk.. i remember this was the first thing done for the hse mah.. haha white on silver still not so bad.. think it's white on black (or the original raw color) lor bcos some small parts of my window & grill closers (u know tt turn-lock thingy?) are showing some black liao due to the freq rubbing of parts when turning the closer..
  2. i on & off shop for bo liao stuff like wall oil paintings, deco stuff (just got 4 hair man plants from ebay), hp accessories, & sports/golfing stuff.. not furnishing & fixtures stuff like many in RT.. hee hee
  3. 10Q 10Q! Hee hee! Here it is: http://www.***.com.sg/ Huh? Think beng beng's grills were silver originally.. unless he changed to white or turned out white in the pics? My grills (and windows) r white though.. i went for the most basic horizontal lines for easy cleaning & cleanest look.. i wanted go for silver (for both my windows & grills) initially bcos cheaper mah & i scared white coat may exfoliate over time but eventually i still surrender to looks lor... most importanly, my id said give me white at silver price wor.. dunno true or not but jus err on the benefit of doubt lo..
  4. depends la.. the 'Silly' brand (& few atas brands) jus the mattress (single/ss) alone already >$1K le!!
  5. Sis niko.. here r the pics. Rainbow blinds in living rm & my room Rainbow blinds in living rm with one side half-way up (pic taken when reno still in progress) Blinds when fully 'closed up' (pic taken frm another plc) So u can play with the amount of light u wan to come into the hse.. haha
  6. Edd's answer was: "special ma, i know his daddy, i know his babysitter, my auntie vouch for his boss's work, wahahaha" Sis, u always tok abt cost per ft.. ya think it's gd to hv a std unit cost, like this then can do comparison farily..
  7. Oh, so need pay extra as expected.. So far i only know Edd bro got it foc.. so lucky!!
  8. One of my regrets for my reno that time.. nvr ask for breakdown of my curtain & blinds purchase!! so it was in lump sum. So sorry sis, afraid u may hv to run a bit to check out the prices.. Anyway, I think i kena chopped carrot head a bit for this prticular purchase bcos was a bit rush that time.. so sad lah! For info, I got it from Az*r*/A*o*a (piece this 2 together) Curtain Pte Ltd at Balestiar Road. I can share some pics of my blinds if u wish.. (@Beng beng - paiseh, always hijack ur blog.. )
  9. 哈哈! i only pulling ur leg la! 老哥 a bit koo koo today!
  10. i know i know! jus trying to be notti nia!
  11. Should be "woman" la (ChinSer is a sis..) Jus trying to be funny, driven crazy by the haze! Sis - U got study wind-water nor! On a shopping spree too huh! Well done! kekeke!
  12. Ya lo.. I lazy to go around shopping, except for my furniture & electrical appliances.. dat's the risk/price to pay lo! I was quite upfront wif Mr ID.. i told him: "i'm not sure if u r making commission out of all the gai siao, but even if u do, it's understandable. i hope u dun take me as a carrot head & trust u to do a gd job for me.. ok?!" He said he dun make commission out of it, but he preferred to work with reasonably-priced & trustworthy sellers (tt he had sieved out over the years) tt he had been working with for the benefit of his customers & his own work & reputation.. He said he had seen many clients buying their own & brought upon themselves (and his workers) too many troubles.. Anyway, 疑人不用,用人不疑 lo... Most of the shops Mr ID brought me c/w listed prices (so i tend to believe wat walk-in customers see is wat i see too) & they gave some discount over that. So as long as the prices not exorbitant & were comparable to elsewhere i checked (i did do some price comparisons ok!), i ok le.. Dat's why i live up to ur remark that i'm the "most nice customer" award winner mah! (mayb deep down ur heart u r laughing at dis biggest carrot head hor! )
  13. Edd bro, ur hse is simple & neat! 住得舒服 most important. I'm sure with the deco stuff, it'll build up its own character de. As for the tables, charis & other loose furniture, can slowly upgrade over time when they wear & tear, & u recoup from the damage now.. hee hee It's an on-going process, no need to rush for everything at one go de.. A bit back-dated, but looking at ur bed again, u mentioned before my $799 ss mattress+bed frame can buy 2 of ur queen size liao! u mean u got ur queen mattress+frame for only $400? very gd buy leh!! And I see no gap bewteen ur frame & wall.. cant recall if u decided to do away with air-con in MBR or do trunking on top.. PS. Many of u toking abt and buying frm TB.. i really admire u all dare to buy relatively big-ticket items like furniture, lightings, wash basins, etc. from TB. i went in before but nvr got myself to buy anything (even deco stuff) from there.. mainly due to mus go thru local agent for delivery.. i buy mostly from Qoo10, ebay.. but more exp lo than TB(?)
  14. Wow so happening here yesterday!! Was busy so no participate.. @ Beng beng> Rainbow-color blinds... u soooooooo cute!! is this for real? anyway, dare not go for it cos rainbow flag = er... u know? Plus 大叔 really cant take such bold colors! Steady progress u hv there, especially for the blinds.. very efficiently & nicely done! Sorry to hear abt the missing item. Lucky ur ID is taking on the responsibility (not after u gave him a piece of ur mind though.. well done bro! ) Thinking back, i nvr took stock of my purchases. Due to my prolonged reno, things had been delivered & moved abt to make way for the reno. Lucky no item lost. (But most of my purchases were made in the presence of my ID at his recommended shops, so i left all the delivery coordinations & return (for any satisfactory item) to him & he was made to hold full responsibility for it from the start!! Dun wanna think if he had taken me for a ride for it though.. ) So wat u hv shared is really useful lesson learned for many! @ Niko> Thx for sharing ur pics (not difficult right? gd efforts! ) Gd progress, n wat cheery choice of colors u hv there! Not too over-whelming but enof to inject cheerful spots ard the hse! Well done sis! Sure will visit if u open hse when it's done! Can c tt u very 好客! Haha! (By the way, saw the interior of ur wardrobe oso laminated. Is this the default by ur ID/contractor - bcos usually only white lining - or did u request for it at a cost?)
  15. Haha I din look at normal rollers blinds at all (becos i dun like the either fully opaque or fully 50% option) so din check out the price.. But i know rainbow is definitely more exp (not to mention i think kena chopped carrot head a little ) I like it quite a lot.. but looks like not many bros & sis got it so not much sharing.. Ya pls do ur hmwork before deciding whether to get it.. share share ur info too
  16. No lah, 有要求 is 理所当然 de.. spent $ le of cos mus make sure is to ur liking & specs.. smmore blum so exp! Was oso thinking of blum but undestd it wld take up some space so went for the cheaper normal soft close instead.. But having our own specific requirements oso got gd & bad la.. I was also very specific wif my carpentary dimensions so much so I drew out all the tech drawings c/w measurements & asked them to jus follow.. Generally all were ok, but there were sm parts that din turn out so well.. e.g. I wanted 4 drawers for my lower kitchen cabinets.. ended up all the drawer height not 3 not 4.. my oversight! luckily i nvr went for blum, else.. I think at the end of the day, chemistry & trust with the ID/contractor, who must prove tt he/she is professional & trustworthy too of cos, is very impt!
  17. bro, looks like quite a fair bit of air-con trunking in ur MBR.. & i suppose the split unit is for the study since it's the furthest away? by the way, thought ur reno would hv been completed by now.. but looks still got fair bit of carpentary to go? hope all is going well so far & on schedule..
  18. Do a google search n u will find some write-ups on roller blinds vs. curtain.. Check this out: http://www.ehomeservices.com.sg/articles/what-are-the-benefits-of-roller-blinds-and-curtains.html There are also some forum threads in RT talking about the same.. Check these out: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/45562-blinds-vs-curtains/ http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/31700-curtain-or-blinds/ For me, I did rainbow blinds for the living rm and my rm (for aesthetics & mtce reasons - i lasy to take down, wash & hang up curtains), while I did curtains for my mom's (the folks usu prefer the more conventional, & her rm allows full length curtains ) At the end of the day, I think it broils down to individual preference & the functions one is after ba..
  19. So u managed to convince ur folks to use roller blinds instead of the traditional curtain.. gd for u!!
  20. wow, ur hse layout & deco must be very well thought-out for a soon soon & prosperous stay!!
  21. Personally, I'll go for option 1 - more modern mah.. I'll oso avoid having the fridge smacked right in the centre of an otherwise well-flushed full-height cabinet wall.. Well, in the end it boils down to personal preference la.. Njoy deciding among many more designs to come for ur hm..
  22. Beng Beng, always so entertaining reading ur posts.. I dun hv a 虎妈 like u.. no wonder my reno took 2 mths 22 days la! Haha! U staying in the MRB or ur folks? The dark grey wall oso looks a bit dark to this gor gor.. er I mean 大叔 here.. I used latte (my personal fav) + lily white for my rm n natural cane + lily white for my mom's.. more warm colors I chose.. better leave the bolder colors to 年轻小伙子 ba! Haha!
  23. Hi YoyoBee, congrats on ur new flat & welcomed to RT! Glad tt u've started this blog to record & share ur reno journey. Many ppl here glad to share their experience & comments wif u too! Enjoy! PS. posting of pics & updates is a default in t-blogs without asking.. Wahaha!!
