  1. Hi Poika, my name is Desmond and I'm a journalist with The Straits Times. I'm working on a story about more HDB residents using digital locks. Possible to chat with you more over the phone to get your views please? Feel free to sms me at 96539553. Thank you!

  2. Update: The fan has been taken.
  3. Today, the remaining electrical stuff in our house - some lights, fan and doorbell were finally installed. After taking a break from reno for awhile, I kind of forgot how dusty and dirty it can get, with all the drilling and stuff. The cleaning after that was really back breaking. That said, we were really pleased with our new fan - a black Relite petite. Initially, we were bent on getting the Haiku fan, but when the price spiralled out of hand, we told ourselves we weren't going to pay $900 for a ceiling fan. So we got ourselves a white baby KDK fan from Goh Ah Bee. But then, two days ago, Mr Paloma spotted the Relite fan in the latest home & decor issue. It was exactly what we wanted - black and simple - so we decided to get it! So now, we are going to let go of our KDK fan. It's white, with a 44-inch blade and is remote-controlled. It's still in its original packaging, unopened, and we have the receipt for warranty. The price is $170, and we are willing to deliver it to the buyer. Please PM me if you are interested! 4. Hey thanks! Ya I guess books always add colour and warmth to the home. Almost all of them belong to my husband, only 10 per cent is mine??
  5. Hey, my husband bought the clock from Ikea a few years ago. Apparently it has been discontinued already.
  6. Read an interesting article by nytimes on new yorkers becoming overly design-conscious about their homes. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/17/garden/how-to-tell-if-youre-living-an-over-propped-life.html A good reminder to us not to overdo things. Our home is a home, not a showroom.
  7. You can call up the Balestier showroom and look for Chris. Very professional guy.
  8. Hi, it was about $1,500 each.
  9. I'm sorry but I don't know the brand and model number. Maybe pinkwhale can help?? She uses the same laminate.
  10. Hey piknik, congrats on your move! Do feel free to drop by my place.
  11. Hey thanks! Actually there's really more work to be done in the house. I've just been putting up the nicer (and neater) sides. We used expose plywood to make the bookshelf. I guess it depends on how big your book collection is and whether you need customisation. For us, we wanted the bookshelf to be full-length (because my husband has many books...too many) and to fit into a hole in the wall, so we did a built-in one.
  12. Oh you recognise the bed? Yeah we liked its clean lines so we got it. Plus, it was on sale!
  13. Hey I bought it on ebay, but I don't advise you to buy from the seller because my lamps had scratches and dents. You can try getting them from light shops in Balestier, I've seen them there.
  14. Hey we are good on Sat evening. He should know my husband and I don't drink mah.
  15. My husband was worried initially too but it turned out just fine. We hacked away our kitchen wall so there's enough room to move about.
  16. Hey I can't remember if I requested, I might have asked them to vaccuum it. I think that's the only way to clean it. I've been living in my house for a few weeks now and haven't really touched the walls yet. Haha.
  17. Hi my dining table is 1.8m by 0.9m. Did you get the same one?
  18. That's great! I bought soap dispensers from francfranc. The stuff there are nice but a little pricey. They have some nice carpets too.
  19. Aww, as long as you guys still spend time together.
  20. Hey hello! Is your reno completed yet? Just waiting for carpentry? There's alot of sale now, do go look around. I think Picket & Rail, Lush, etc are all offering quite good discounts. Cool thanks for the invite, will surely go over to take a look.
  21. Ya those are the type of handles we are considering. And yes, we are going to do a photo/art wall. But probably on the other side of our bedroom because we don't know how the brickwall will take to all the drilling. Recently there was a very nice victorian frame being sold at Ikea. Could have been limited edition because when we went back a second time to get one, they were no longer on display. Sigh.
  22. Thanks for liking our place!
  23. Itsybits: Sure, of course. We can have a K party, haha! By the way, I read your blog that you bought a bench for your dining table? May I know where you got it from? We are considering a bench for our dining table too. Pinkwhale: Is that so? How do you clean the grout anyway? My floor grouting is white too and they get dirty very easily! K still has some work to do at my place, but I think all his subcontractors very busy doing other houses. Heh.
  24. Thanks for your suggestions! The wall should be big enough for a poster Nespresso's coffee is quite good! Go for it
