papaedmund replied to aeiousg's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
Hi again, For your case i think you may call the management and ask the developer to recommend. The developer uses all the same imported sliding mechanism and easier to get and fix by their own people BUTTT....usually they will ask you to settle yourself by calling you own contractor.....reason being($$$$$$ in their pocket, too heavy to come LOL.....Joking lah!) -

Problem With Formica Plastic Laminate, Help!
papaedmund replied to tabithalee's topic in Carpentry Works
Hi, I can say that its common because is a glossy laminate and it is BLACK in colour, the chances of seeing this problem is high compare to non-glossy type.UNLESS....the door used is make of MDF or Chip Board where the surface is smooth. There are 2 major reasons why this happened. 1.Thickness of laminate used.Laminate comes in 0.7mm-1.2mm thick and if you use a 0.7mm thick laminate its likely to have this problem. My advise is to use 1mm at least for glossy laminate. 2.The plywood used for the doors. If the surface of the plywood used is too 'ROUGH or UNEVEN' and a thin laminate is used, it will have this problem also.(very rare carpenters will sand the surface smooth before applying laminate) BTW.... nowadays the plywood came, the surface are not as smooth as like last time.Laminate quality is also not as good as before. Cheers! -

Usually this is cause by the levelling of the concrete mortar base.If its leveled...the cabinet should seat on it with just little or no gap at all. From the picture....this gap is too much. But from what i see from the picture..carpenter added a strip of wood underneath the cabinet(usually not). May have to take a whole picture of your kitchen cabinet to have a look

Horrible Plastic Smell From Wardrobe...
papaedmund replied to gcheese's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
No worry, this is common.......clean the internal with just water.......you may put charcoal or pandan leaf if you want (some people do it this way)......smell will go off after a week or two. Sorry...wonder how to delete a post above -
Go to any industrial estate....find a carpentry factory(you will see they make furniture) Tell them dimension and thickness of wood panels you need to cut, and ask for the price.

Hi, As this is not a heavy duty drill, the impact is very small. Anyway you should feel it when you switch to the hammer icon, and you will also feel that the impact is stronger when drilling into the wall. But like you said its at least 20yrs already, the hammer impact may not be working anymore. Best thing is to find a concrete area and start testing, you will know immediately. Good Luck!

Hi, Just to share with you guys how to hide a 20cm thick single mattress if space given behind door is allowed. Thank You!
-
Hi, Yes,alluminium pole systems, baskets or cabinet. You mean glass sliding doors for the wardrobe? Glass sliding frameless? or alluminium frame? You need to have partition at both sides to put up for sliding doors. You need wood frame partition to hold up the acrylic or glass. BTW acrylic is not recommended...glass is better. Regards, papaedmund

Hi again, If glass spacers are use,you need to have holes drilled on the glass and use a male to female glass spacer. Imagine that this male and female spacers are tighten onto the glass, use the end 'HEAD' spacer (usually provided together)and tighten it together with the wood with the 'HEAD' sunken in and flush with the wood. Once its confirm everything is tighten, paste the last outer plywood (usually thin one 3-5mm) and finish with the necessary finishing like sanding and varnishing.(carpenter will know) As in the picture i can't see roughly how thick the wood is and how long the spacer is,this is what i think maybe how it was done and i could be wrong Furthermore, the spacer plus wood cannot be too thick as it may affect the door opening and closing at the side edges. Another easiest way if you do not need to see any spacers but wood only, just use 2 pcs of finished wood with top and bottom already cut in for your finger to grip and glue it to the glass.(of course need stronger glue) Hope you can understand what i said

Hi, The gaps between the wood and glass door can be done easily. You mean the "push" sign thing is a mechanism? Is not something you buy and just paste it on the wood? Sorry i don't get what you mean by this "i just can't figure out where to get the mechanism for the door push handle..."
