Serangoon North Renovation By Defong Interior Design
curryfishhead replied to Akitsuki's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Hi Akitsuki It seems strange that I quoted your first post. Anyway, was reading your blog and was thinking out loud. You mentioned that we have to be careful about all the details and any changes (no matter how small) will be charged. Is this happening to you from DeFONG? Frankly, I am doing my 2nd renovation now. If throwing away of your dismantled furniture also not flexible and kenna charge, then we really have to think carefully about engaging the contractor. After all, we are not a renovation contractor and a lot of people are doing it for the first time. How to document everything down 100% from the word "go"? Let's hope that you won't be charged too much extra.... Generally, I feel that Contractor do make a living and they should do it by winning us over with their prices, design and profession-ism and NOT through Variation Order. Good luck. Just share with us your experience about this. Frankly, I hope DeFONG read this... -
Frankly, not trying to defend anyone, but when buying lights, a lot depends on your luck. I installed 30 downlights in my false ceiling and after two years, one of them keeps giving intermittent issues. I had to figure out and fix it myself eventually. The materials used and also your luck plays a big part. To request for after sales support after selling the lights is not wrong but to be fair, it also depends on whether it is their policy to do it for you after a certain timeframe. One of the things I learnt after marriage and buying a new house, is to be as independent as possible (meaning, becoming a part time electrican, painter, plumber, Lock changer, DIY experts, etc, etc). After getting those "cheap" contractor who advertise thru papers or pamplets found in our letter box, and realising them NOT cheap at all, I roll up my sleeves and try to DIY it as much as possible. Well, a lot of things can be learnt through the web and also going to those more expensive establishment like Home-fix to ask for advice, buy from them, and can change (hehehe...) if buy wrongly. Good luck.

Hi Chling Did you manage to find this in Singapore and installed them? I found some of these house number plates in ebay from UK. Wonder if you have tried them? Thanks.

Fyi Interior Affairs Are Having A Sale...
curryfishhead replied to Gymrat76's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
Went there yesterday. Generally, the discount is about 30% average. Only certain sets only. If you are keen on the brand, worth considering. I personally find them too expensive or just unaffordable. LOL. Their kitchen sets are beautiful but after 40% discount, it is still way above market price (prices for a simple kitchen set comes at 9K++, without the tabletop, and with Tabletop, sure hit 15K again)....Well, quality and affordability go hand in hand. If you need inspirations, it is a really great place to get ideas.... -
Where to get them in Singapore?

Hi Chling We are going for a white/grey modern contemporary theme. Got a maid so not too concerned about the cleaning or maintenance. I really like the various options on the colours of the LED lights but my wife violently objects to it (sigh..talk about who rules the world now). I am thinking of buying the LED myself to save cost but not sure whether it will work. Your blog had given me a lot of insights about how things can be... Another thing about the LED light placement. You planned it yourself or the ID or the electrian? For LED lights, heard that if you don't space it out properly, you will get pockets of shadows in the room. How about the wattage you used? Do you see any difference between the 3W, 7W and 9W? Any guidelines to follow (eg spacing between LEDs should be x.xx metres)? Is the connectors all E27 or some of those GNU type? Sorry, a lot of questions. Will likely confirm the ID soon and maybe all the above will be kindly advised by them. In the meantime, doing some homework and budgeting. Thanks in advance.

Hi Chling Very amazed by how you renovate your house....super impressed....wanted to do something similar but my the other half will never agree... Need your advise. I believe you bought the LED strip which is waterproof. Since the lights are used indoor, any reasons to have it waterproof? Also, are you having a electrical contractor to wire up your place? How come you are doing all this lightings stuff instead of leaving it to them? I am currently budgeting my renovation and trying to make sense about the electricals/lightings...can you pm me your window grilles pricings and the electricals? Thanks in advance.....

Wait for Internal Affairs. They will be having a promotion of about 30% discount in early April. Look out for it.
-
Ha ha....Did not ask them for quote when I visited them 2 months ago to look c look c. Hoping that someone who had done that and can provide some insight...very embarrassing when you tell them what you want and then jaw DROP after hearing their prices! Come on...anyone?

Hi All Just gotten my keys to my new place and looking to renovate the whole place. Currently shortlisting ID now. I subscribed to Interior Affairs promotion email and was informed that there will be a 40% discount off kitchen system. Went to their showroom and REALLY IMPRESSED. But knew that their prices are equally IMPRESSIVE. I understand that they did have a similar promotion last year. Does anyone know roughly their price in term of pfr (per foot run) after the 40% discount for their kitchen set? Oh by the way, their grohe appliances will be having a average 30% discount starting end March and early April. Thanks.

Went there to take a look yesterday evening...no promo going on now and the prices for new sets are pretty high though... Probably have to wait for some clearance sales....
