End of Week 5 19/05/2012 This morning when we made a trip up, I heard running water sound in the house. To my horror, the common toilet pipe was broken and the water leaking out from the pipe behind the sewage pipe! :jawdrop: Hubby tried to connect back the pipe that has fallen down, but he was not able to, so he quickly turned off the main water pipe downstairs. We informed our contractor about the leakage. To our surprise, he immediately came to our house to investigate the issue. I think the water has been running like that since yesterday. Heartache so much water was wasted. Anyway, the electrician has put up some of the lights in the house. The foyer pendant lamp Living room fan - we can only install the shortest one due to low ceiling height The common bedroom light - double T8 tubes with prismatic lens. I just love the lens as it shimmers with the reflection from the sunlight. The study room light - same.. very low profile And finally, this little thing that we love - Legrand switch and socket!

Oh, we can order through the agents and they help us to purchase. Or we can purchase RMB from them and they will top up our Alipay account then we can buy directly from the seller. This is a better method, no need to pay commission to the agents!

Hi Twinkie, yah, turquoise and orange is like the sea and the sun. Very soothing feeling! Etsy is definitely a good place to get inspiration. I think the lamp can be found in places like Hock Siong in Singapore. But, they are second hand though. I'm more concerned on where to get nice printed fabric. The air one is a bit expensive.. I used this EAexpress last time when I bought my wedding gown from Shanghai. $2.50 for the 1st 500g. Now i just realised they also have sea shipping which is also cheap, 1cbm 580RMB. Door-to-door service but have to pay your own GST.

Bamboo is elegant! I love! But need to control the spread of bamboo. May not be an easy task. My mom also wanted to plant bamboo in the garden but she thinks that there is lots of effort involve to maintain it and to control the bamboo from overgrowing. Haha i'm also not a person with green fingers. But I admire people with great garden landscape.

Hi Topsy, yeah, that's the purpose of chalkboard wall! It'll be useful for us to write down messages, or grocery items. Hi Aya, I hope the carpentry will be up next week. We all look forward to the kitchen. That's the only place with carpentry haha.. the other parts of the house are rather plain looking.

Few days ago we found a couple of hollow tiles on the kitchen backsplash. The tiler is rectifying it. The wall has been painted with chalkboard paint. I have a feeling that this weekend the lights will be up.

Week 5 17//05/2012 Painting is done! The doors have been painted gray. I'm quite satisfied with this paint. But it could be better if the paint is matte rather than glossy. Contractor said for matte paint, there are only 2 colours - white or black. No choice then. Something is missing for the door - the handle! We are planning to change the door handle to gold. The Master Bedroom indented wall has a new paint. Bedroom doors are also painted gray. I was hoping to hang a wreath on each door during festive season! The Master Bathroom

Week 5 16/05/2012 Last 2 days, no one was working. I guess because they worked too hard during the weekend so they were off for the past two days. Today, the first coat of paint was up. It really brightens the house. All these are our hood, hob, sink and lightings. They have all arrived and the workers placed them in the 2nd bedroom. Good that they cover them with plastic bag. The wall between the storeroom and the kitchen will be painted with chalkboard paint.

I guess the texture of our tiles are quite similar but I prefer your tiles, lighter colour. I agree about the colour differences under different lighting conditions. My bathroom tiles appeared to be light gray when we viewed it under the showroom down lights. But under normal day light, it turns brownish gray. I'm still ok with the colour so i didn't ask to change. Just let it be, after sometime we won't care about the bathroom tiles anymore..

Very nice layout! If I were you, I will want to have a nice little garden at the backyard. Hehee, but to be more practical a wet kitchen is a good idea if you do lots of cooking. By the way, are you going to build an entrance to the toilet from the utility room? I feel that's much more convenient for the maid or whoever sleeps in that room.

I just talked to the Hoyoyo agent, seems like unless i have lots of items to ship, otherwise air shipping is a cheaper alternative. Cos I want to buy a small table fan which is only 35cm x 30cm x 20cm. If ship by sea, they need a minimum of 0.5cbm, and they won't let us know the size of each item unless we pay them CNY 5 per item for them to measure and let us know how much space left for the 0.5cbm. Then sometimes talk to the taobao seller, they just don't want to tell you what is the size of the packaging. Really need lots of patience!

Hi denimart, I thought your bathroom floor tiles are light beige? Mine is towards brownish gray. Upload your floor tiles see whether same or not? Hehe

XTR, I have question regarding your spotlight. How come the two lights look different? Are you using different bulbs? Looks like the one on the left has a cone shaped bulb, and the other one (nearer to the fan) looks like a short cylinder?

Your MBR is really a challenge. What does your ID suggest? Probably you can do a wardrobe with pole system and curtains as door, so that the space is not taken up by doors, can save a few cm . At the same time you won't feel so overwhelmed by the big wardrobe in front of you when sleeping. How about your living room? I feel that is a challenge too with the space constrain.

I like the yellow paint. It looks very refreshing! May I know what's the colour code?

Colour Tone Since most of the walls in the flat will be white, I'm thinking to add splashes of colour to my furniture and decor. I would like to share some nice colour combinations that I like. Orange and turquoise Both are vibrant colours on the opposite palette but if the colours are pale, they are really a perfect combination! Grey and Yellow Grey is cool and neutral while yellow is fun and exciting! They complement each other just like hubby and me. We have very different personalities!

Thanks denimart, we chose this tile because it is close to dirt colour. Less noticeable if it gets dirty.
