  1. Just a quick note on the things I would like to do: Revamp entire kitchen and 2 bathrooms Laminated flooring for living/dining + 3 bedrooms Change all windows and grills Change main gate to wrong iron gate. Hack and change tiles at foyer Whole house plastering + L box ceiling ****/dining area Whole house painting Electrical rewiring
  2. Really? Do you have a reno blog too? Can share? Hehehe maybe can get some ideas from you. Nope, mine is at Bedok Reservoir. Are you an ID? Very good deal! Lucky you! Can PM me the electrician? Saw your blog, your new house in Bedok Res, same as me. Wow, thanks for the long explanation. At least we have some ideas about the breakdown of the cost. Yeah, indeed i was thinking to do a more classy looking kitchen - victorian style. But since this is a low cost thing, I believe I should be able to find other contractor with more reasonable price. Or maybe finding other alternatives. Pictures from Cote Kitchens Yah...PD door also doesn't cost that much. I was actually looking for PD door. But he said not good.
  3. Yeah, the painting itself is already expensive. Sigh..Can you PM me your ID/contractor? Yup, I will have to look for other contractors / ID. Nope, it is an over 20 years old resale flat. Yup, the individual items in the electrical wiring list caught my attention first. When i saw this already no mood.. Wah.. thanks for pointing out so many over quoted items. Do you know what's the standard price range for window and grill?
  4. _______ He quoted me based on solid ash plywood with white spray paint. I didn't choose to use laminated cabinet. Anyway, i too think it is ridiculously overpriced. The total fee end up to almost 60K, for renovation, kitchen and 1 built-in wardrobe and 1 vanity top (which i didn't post it here). I think for this price i can renovate an EM already LOL. Crazy
  5. Hi all, Thanks for all the feedback. Yes I was shocked when i received the pricelist too, but i just wanted to confirm how much did they over quote me. And obviously i was being chopped! I'm now sourcing for other ID/contractors. Hope to get some good news soon~
  6. Last week, I just got a quote from a contractor. Can anyone advice if this is reasonable?
  7. I stumbled upon this forum and ever since have been addicted to it! Now it's my turn to start a blog to record my renovation journey. We have bought a 4-room resale flat on Christmas eve last year, it was sort of like a Christmas present for us. We will officially be a HDB flat owner on 12 April 2012. Now here is the floor plan. 1. Sofa 2. Lighting 3. Kitchen idea
  8. Hi Poppy, Can you share with me your contractor's contact as well? Thanks!
  9. Hi, can you PM me Eric's contact? Thanks!
  10. Are you asking advice on how to save cost? IMO, you can reduce carpentry work like tv console, feature wall unless really necessary. (for example you have an odd-shape living room) I find these items not only take up space but also limit your way of rearranging furniture. It will go outdated eventually. If you intend to sell your house after some time, usually buyer will tend to look for houses with minimal built-in to reduce cost of hacking. Just my 2 cents
  11. I don't see any items related to kitchen, you do not plan to renovate the kitchen?
  12. Just wonder when you guys get quotation from ID. Do they actually go to your house to inspect before giving you an exact quotation? or they will just give you a quotation based on your floor plan? If you were to get quotations from many company, does that mean all of them will have to go to your house to view it. Sorry if my questions sound silly. Just to make sure.
  13. A small suggestion for your MBR. You can have an L-shape wardrobe and place your bed against the wall of bedroom 2.
  14. Congrats! Nice design! But doesn't look Scandinavian though. By the way, are you hacking off the wall between master bedroom and the common room to make a walk-in wardrobe?
  15. Well done beezebear! I always think that painting the whole house by ourselves give us a sense of satisfaction! I may also do that to save up some cost. Does this mean the contractor will have to stop other work while you do the painting? (for example, carpentry?) Hmm.. just wondering
  16. Wow... your wife is definitely very good at bargaining! Your ID has very good service too. But i may not need an ID. My cousin has an interior design firm and i may just look for him to do up some stuff. See how things go. I'm always very last minute keke.. Look forward to viewing more pictures from you!
  17. Hi Yeese, Congrats!! Me and hubby have just gotten our PR status too and bought a resale flat at bedok. Hehe.. but we are only able to get our keys in April.. Looking forward to your reno! 33k for those you have mentioned above? Do you change window grill etc? I'm planning to re-do my flooring and also window. I guess i'll faint looking at the reno price. Anyway, we havn't sourced any ID yet.
  18. Hi Timothy, I like your wooden plank tiles. Are they actually real tiles with the wooden look? Is the surface rough? Mind to PM me the price and exact model? Appreciate much
  19. Hi Reiki, I read through your blog and I love the way you hide the wiring and toilet pipes. Wonder if using concealed bricks to hide the plumbing pipes is legal for HDB? I would like to do it for my toilet too. By the way, do you mind to share your ID contact with me? My email: yile.low@gmail.com Thanks
