  1. I think mine is included...ie although there is a kitchen sink, I am still charged for the solid top. Anyone can advise? thks
  2. ya. Sometimes the pipes expand due to heat, so the ceiling paint drops off, not necessarily leaking. See HDB website on leaking. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeMaintCeilingLeaks?OpenDocument if no water droplets, should be ok. my house also has ceiling paint flaking at some areas.
  3. my agent refers to the property agent, who claims 1% from the flat's sale. Apparently HDB technical officer does spot such things. See this thread. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=27624
  4. ok, I am wrong, according to HDB website, HDB technical officer only check for unauthorised renovation works. So it seems I have been mis-advised. I shall go inform my agent WTF his professionalism is about.
  5. Frankly speaking, I think the issue could be the ceiling paint is too thick and the upstairs did not do proper waterproofing or old flat, so flaks of paint come down. My housing agent told me that if the ceiling is leaking, HDB technical officer will notice when checking and will ask seller to rectify before the sale of flat is completed. If HDB technical officer has already seen your flat, it should be fine because if there is a real leak, it should be paid by seller. If HDB technical officer does not think its a leak, then its not a leak.
  6. yup. I am also in Serangoon. Now doing plastering. Tiling is finished.
  7. when I got the letterbox keys to my new flat, every alternate day, I get a pamphlet from contractors and one of the common items is the bi-fold door. I did mine for $185 each from ID. The pamphlet prices are quite consistent at about $168 or maybe if you do 2, can bargain to $160-$165. If yours is new flat, no hacking, shifting of toilet doors, can consider. Just call them to install, no need to coordinate anything as there is no design input. Can install when all the renovation works is done also. The bi-fold door comes with door frame. No need door frame, even cheaper! Things that need to customise according to design, eg tiles, carpentry, etc, get ID to do. standard items no need, can save costs
  8. The correct proportion is HDB will pay 50%, upstairs will pay 25%, downstairs will pay 25%, regardless of whether poor quality or what. The flat is resale, ie old house, lets face it. If its HDB defects problem, it will have been discovered and rectified long ago. btw, the carpenter went to my new flat to do measurement first before Kevin brought him to your house. Cos I heard them say to drop by Serangoon north..haha
  9. I did try and match several fonts, but I still cannot get your font. Do you still remember which chinese font generator did you use or u just used MS Word?
  10. what font did you use for your signage (chinese font)? I find it nice!

  12. no lightings? if you have planters, you also need outdoor decking.
  13. For some strange reason, my door bell sounded just now while I am at my parents' house, and I did not press the bell. Hopefully at my new house, there will not be a clash of frequency. Can we change the frequency?
  14. I bought this and just installed the batteries. Music is loud and clear and there are 36 types! Not sure whether the same frequency as my neighbour's door bell though this is really super easy to install. However, I went to NTUC to check just now and the brand is different from NTUC's. I think NTUC uses Taiyo.
  15. Hi all, Can I overlay bathroom tiles if the below layer is newly laid, but there is a mistake with the laying arrangement? Wise to do so? Any danger?
  16. This is old news. This caused HDB to suspend DBSS and to review the scheme. You didn't read the news?
  17. Hi, just want to check if your wall tiles grout lines and the floor tiles grout lines are aligned. Mine is not aligned and the tiler and contractor say cannot align because my kitchen uses 600 X 300 wall tiles while floor is 300 X 300 tiles. So every 2 tiles = 1 wall tiles and the grout lines are 2mm, so cannot align properly. Is this true? The MBR bathroom is also the same. I was told cannot align to allow the tile to allow water to flow down the drainage and not be trapped. Is this true?
  18. If the existing tiles has no hollow tiles, its fine to overlay. If the tiles has been there for over 10 yrs, better check for hollow tiles and then decide. If hollow tiles, better hack and re-lay.

  20. This blog has a good account of the history of HDB estates and their floor plans. It even has statistics on the room sizez, the number of units in each estates, the various types, price index, etc. I found my parents' home layout plan and a floorplan that resembles my current flat in Serangoon! http://teoalida.webs...bfloorplans.htm Have fun!
