  1. Really hardworking yah?
  2. From left, $1.58 Norika, Liang Chew Hardware, 133 Kitchener Road $3 Showy, Poh Joo Hardware , 159 Jalan Besar $6.50 Showy, not sure where the contractor's purchaser got it from. But, tiler found it not suitable for resale flat use 'cos it's too deep and may collide with other pipes e.g. basin sewage pipe and shower sewage pipe. Confirmed this with the manufacturer. But, Mace, you have to get either Norika or Showy floor traps if you want the floor trap cover to close nicely 'cos these brands' floor traps have slightly deeper edges to fit the anti-insect floor trap. You can get the Norika floor trap ($6.50 for stainless steel) from Liang Chew or the Showy one ($10 for stainless steel) from Kin Siang (Blk 30 Kelantan Road, #01-99). Think the plastic floor traps should be cheaper.
  3. I'm paying abt $21+k for three toilets + kitchen, all in. Sanitary items, etc., we bought ourselves. But, we were very lucky 'cos we signed the contract encasing the price before Indonesia banned sand exports. The contractor says we're his last customer enjoying the old rates. Think we got a good price 'cos all our tiles, except the kitchen toilet tiles, are from Spain...and so far we are very pleased with the work done. Gosh, GMC...you never fail to amaze me. Studied the picture again but think that they can't possibly match since they are of different sizes...so the fault lie with the buyers - us. Heheh...folks, this is what happens when you don't get an interior designer to advise you...the devil's in the details! It's okay, lah...we don't mind.... I'm very satisified with the wavy lines on the wall tiles being nicely aligned and floor tiles being even and neat...
  4. Thanks, Crystal. Kids are lovely. Life changing and immensely fulfilling. Went to Jalan Bersah yesterday and found one shop that sells the aluminium zinc one with lock for $3 something without screws. Actually, lots of hardware stores there look like they may sell them. Didn't buy 'cos was not sure how many I should get then. Will also be replacing this sliding door handle. Saw it at the same shop.
  5. Wow! Congrats! That's a major life changing event! I'm thinking of selling my maternity and baby stuff at 70% off. PM me if you are interested.
  6. Hahahaha. More likely, toilet cleaning first. Thanks for dropping by, Odie and Ben3555.
  7. Hi phantom..finally appeared after a long break?
  8. Heheh. Your little hobbies are so interesting.
  9. Just the before and after pictures loh
  10. Lucky you! Where are you getting your tracks? Hardware stores at Jalan Besar? YES! I'm so excited...can't wait for the plumbing and the sanitary items to be up so that I can see the results of my many, many weeks of shopping and planning and not forgetting, the workers' hard work.
  11. Thanks, Crystal. Actually, I'm a little paiseh 'cos, as you have read from my blog, the carpentry laminate we have chosen looks a lot like the one you're going to hack away! Make me feel a little like being in time warp - at least ten years behind. Heheh.. As we're not going to redo the whole place, we can't do very modern design for the kitchen and the toilets...it'll be too schizoprehnic! So, mine is just a simple contemporary design that will not look too out of place with the rest of the flat. Think your place will be TOTALLY TRANSFORMED into a sleek modern abode...that's Kelvin's style!
  12. Yep...hope they stay that way! Noticed your future MIL's really capable! Big savings of a few hundreds there.
  13. Hopefully your sister will use it soon 'cos such things cannot be kept...a friend kept hers for 5 years before passing it to me...but the tap had little black spots and the plastic and rubber stuff were brittle. But, I think the plumber should be able to find replacements for the plastic and rubber stuff at hardware stores though.
  14. Oh my, so you actually caught the local ants and put them in there...Hmmm, so if you don't catch a queen ant, they shouldn't start breeding, right?
  15. Really, Mace? That's great! Good for you!
  16. More pictures! The kitchen toilet floor tiles done, brown to match the wall tiles. Really love the look. Light grey floor tiles for the boys' toilet in the process of being laid.
  17. These are three different anti-insect valves for floor traps. We're going for the Showy one in the centre, which is shorter than the Showy one on the right. One the left is the Norika one. This is how it looks like when it sits on the floor trap. Go away, cockroaches...you're not wanted here! Here are the master bathroom wall tiles, with a close-up of the hole cut out for the glass shower screen u-channel and a close-up of the tumbled marble tile. We wanted a kerb done for the master bathroom shower area. Later, while talking to a friend's SIL who is an interior designer, we found out that kerbs are OUT; what's IN is a sunken shower area - really neat 'cos it's more streamlined. So, we kicked ourselves for not having an interior designer, and since having instructed our contractor, we resigned ourselves to our kerbed shower area. But, guess what? When I went there today, the workers highlighted that they have taken the initiative to do a streamlined sunken shower area because it was a better and more beautiful way to do a shower area. Gosh, they sure know their stuff. I'm just so surprised and pleased.
  18. Wah, your place is really near the amenities.
  19. Congrats, Joyz..looks like your reno. is finishing. !!
  20. Not a fengshui expert either...just bits and pieces picked up from here and there. !! Given your Id's reputation, your place should be quite nicely done up.
  21. Got all my stuff from Poh Joo, too. !! But, we got the cheaper 2 piece w.c. and normal toilet seats 'cos we have three toilets. We ordered the same Rinnai hood, too. Can't wait to try it out. Hey, let us know when you start cooking how good is the inner flame...I considered it but was too chicken to try out new technology. Couldn't get feedback on it either.
  22. Can't wait to see the results...sounds interesting.
