Is the design you posted the final design?
-
Nice to see you back too, Devilaz. Reno. going very smoothly so far... too good to be true? Keeping my fingers crossed that it remains this way.
-
If you are worried about humidity, home-fix sells reusuable dehumidifiers...think they're cheaper in the long run compared with the hippo thingy.
-
Lovely pastels...your place is going to look so sweet with pastel colours everywhere!
-
Nice sink Can wash vegetables and utensils at the same time!

Don't kancheong Now just sleep as much as much as you feel like it, eat well...take folic acid supplements (can get from any pharmacy), later take multi-vitamins and calcium supplement, try to eat nutricious food e.g. fruits and wholemeal biscuits...little bit every now and then, think it helps to keep the nausea down.

Oh..thought the ant poison is quite effective? Try a different brand?
-
Better seek a second opinion from the electrician when he comes then.
-
Thanks. Still thinking (abt the ant farm). What's ant combat? The little container of ant poison found at most supermkts?
-
cancer? what do you mean?

Best to borrow from the national library - cheap and good. If you've time, read a variety...'cos you'll find even experts may have differing opinions! Think happy thoughts, play music (one that you like) and sing from 6-7 mths onwards, rest well esp. in the first and third trimesters...and if your first is bad, look forward to the second 'cos usually the second trimester is okay and the best time to get all the baby stuff...third trimester, you'll tire easily and start waddling.

Welcome, luppy...just kaypoh around and read others' blog and the various sub-forums for ideas and info. Just post your questions and keep your fingers crossed that someone here knows the answer!

teach you, reno expert??? ....I paiseh...maybe my standards lower: look at the wiring...seems okay... turn on the lights, no problem...okay, loh! Does this make sense to you?
-
Ooops...sorry. Just that I even considered keeping the concrete support to save costs...am so glad I didn't. We're installing new ones 'cos the flat didn't have any. I just signed the contract this morning with Kaisoon 'cos the Kaisoon guy appeared experienced and practical, with piority given to air-con efficiency. Mit Starmex non-inverter system 3, with 5 years warranty for compressor and workmanship and three years warranty for spare parts. We're not going to air-cond. downstairs... Actually, don't use air-con often...maybe 10 times a year? Not an air-con expert, but think that if you are going to turn on the air-conditioning often, it makes sense to change 'cos the new ones would be more energy saving (compared to a 15 year one). Different technology, mah.

Better change the whole unit piping. My sellers' advised the same when we asked what they would change if they could. Said the water flow is worsened over time. Doing tiling, my contractor said that the pipes were all choked and cannot be reused. Better change the kitchen cabinets and any concrete support also... 'cos when we removed the them, there were so many dead cockroaches... This explains my preoccupation with anti-insect traps. You're welcome!!

I got my stainless steel dish rack at $28! Yep, contractor's catalogue!! No, I'm not changing most wiring...they seem to be in good condition. Only the kitchen ones 'cos I changed the layout...even then, I think I'll probably re-use the old wires. Should be okay, lah...my parents' house 40 years old still using the same old wiring.

Think the new desgins might be more expensive? The ones I saw had long aluminium handles at the top instead of ABS trimming.
-
Heheh...you can start reading baby books. Take care, eat well and rest well! !!
-
Yep. Shouldn't be too difficult I think..just screws what....anyway, hubby said no problem...haven't tried yet though !!.
-
No lah, not you...the poem! This lady who views the world through mirrors...and then, one day, the mirror cracked from side to side...can't remember the details though
-
ABS trimming is a special kind of laminate to seal the sides of a door to protect it from moisture, etc. It's supposed to be good 'cos it curves around the edge of the door. The other way is to stick the laminate (the same type as the door front) at the sides. This way is supposed to be more sleek. But, it may not be as hardy as the ABS trimming. The corners and edges may peel over time due to water (wet hands) and heavy use. Thanks. But only the kitchen toilet has dark floor tiles to match the wall...the master bathroom floor tile is medium beige-brown and the boys' light grey.
-
Wow. How much did you pay for the pull-out mirror?
-
Hahah..reminds me of a poem:... and the mirror cracked from side to side..
-
Yah, kinda like a sloping skirting inside the shower cubicle. Think the bathrooms should be all completed next week...will take a photo then. No lah, different people have different design ideas and experience.

I'm sorry, they're still in the process of working on it so I don't have any pictures yet. Please bear with my explanation for now: the shower area is slightly deeper (2 cm?) than the bathroom floor. The u-channel is fixed in the sunken shower area and then, the glass shower screen fitted in. So, the glass shower screen looks like it extends from the bathroom floor upwards with no kerb. The other side of the u-channel will be covered with tiles. The tiler said he'll sand the tiles so that they slope down onto the shower area floor so that dirt and dust will not collect. See, the tiler's attention to detail? That's why I am so impressed and grateful. In a nutshell, the glass shower screen and the difference in floor levels prevent the bath water from flowing out onto the bathroom floor. I've seen this at my uncle-in-law's house before...at that time, I didn't realised it was the new way of doing shower areas. We're not doing any glass shower screen for the boys' toilet ('cos scared they break the glass, get their fingers caught between the door and the glass wall, etc.). So, the tiler says he'll do the normal kerb there.
