hi koi koi are u gg to hack away one of ur rooms? if not i think the MBR very little space for WIW... u have better reconsider.. if u are really gg to do it w/o knocking away one of the room then the space left for bed, dressing table will be very small already, very cramp... in my opinion, better dun.. just convert one of the rooms to a WIW... better haha

hi krisie is this the bench u are talking abt? can't find any other benches on ikea online catalog already... we've been to ikea many times but never see a suitable bench leh... http://www.ikea.com.sg/products/product_display.asp?id=1569 IMHO, u should buy those teak sofas rather than coffee table or TV consoles..cos i think sofas have to be more steady cos they need to support more weight... whereelse i dun think coffeetable or TV consoles need to have such high strength... anyway ur new accessories looks fantastic...

where u saw ur bench? ikea? like wat mickoe wifey said, we are looking for one to replace the stupid silver river one who is becoming something like an eye-sore grrh... u should ask ur carpenter to 'stain' it to wenge for u... rather than u do it.. like for us, our carpenter told us that there's a layer of lacquer on our TV console so he gotta sand it before he can paint... else if never remove the lacquer then directly paint over it..sure will be ugly with alot of patches here and there...

the door is about $1000 if i rem correctly... but it's very big lor... about 2x normal doors... ya my renos almost completed... now left some touching up from our contractor.... left with furnishings... headache also... oh ya the reason why we build that door is cos we have plans to aircon the whole house hehe.. if u wan, u can come up to see see hehe... our renos nothing fantastic but i feel it's simple and nice, easy to clean hehe

i also dun quite like the idea of mounting alot of things on the wall... next time when wan to shift position very difficult... gotta fill up the screw holes, and repaint (diff shades also liao) it or use sometime to cover it up... mafan...and somemore still got rusty screws and corrosion to ensure...

just would like to add. the quote have to look at the design and the material used as well. Like for our feature wall we were quoted far cheaper by an ID.. but the material used? Gysium board.. something like office partition.. no design just a wall with a few pigeon holes.. that's why it's cheap..Ah keong uses laminated plywood and his design is all available space he put cabinets... with the max no. of shelves inside.did u see the interior when u came on sat? some only put a few shelvings lor to cut costs. some will just simply give u a wooden plank to cover the bomb shelter... it's also a feature wall...but really a wall lor.. not much use right? so the bottom line is that u must also conside the design and materials as well... i think that's why his quote is more ex... and i think he do factor in some additonal costs that might incur during renos.. like our walls are not flat so he put an additional plank in fact 3 to cover up the wall and make the whole thing appear nicer... no extra charges... the study door frame also.. he will try his best to make his work as nice as possible... in my opinion, he's very good, very professional...

call them 1 or 2 days before the date they told u... sometimes the stock come earlier.. like for our case... they have a "no reserve" policy but i managed to "persuade" them to keep a few hours for me... hehe

i am worried that the sunlight will damage my beautiful sofa and my furniture... and my parquet floor, just polished looks so nice... oh wat abt ur bedrooms any curtains? bedrooms are using laminated flooring right? i think also cannot tahan direct sunlight for too long...

payment wise i think he is very flexible, we made our first payment to him when he is 60% done (he asked for it, he said any amt will do, but we paid him abt 40%) with our renos... after that he never come bother us on payment.. now my renos are 95% completed he still never pressed us for payment but i called him up and pass him another 40%... now still got 20% payment i still haben give, he also never press anyway once u made payment to him, he will give u a reciept...

i believe the contractor work like this, u report defects, they will do afterwards they will bill to HDB and then HDB pays them... so the more defects u let them do, the more stuffs they can "explode" the sums and in the process earn more $$... haha so u are not doing them a favor by reporting so little defects... then they will find it very hard to mark up the quotes...

i put a 18k unit in my living room, not cold but cool(anyway i set the temp to be 25 degrees only) but we no need the unit to be cold, cool can already... hehe so far so good... btw i am using daikin sys3..consult the aircon specialist better, they will give u advice... but my 18k unit need abt 20-30mins to make my living/dinning room cool lor...

To be exact it isabout $980, the frame is not like this in the first place but because our wall's top and bottom thickness varies, that's why ah keong gotta make that thick wooden frame to 'beautify' it... but the effect is nice right? hehe
