Heehee...I thought the soldiers look kind of funny when I place a bit here and there at home...it is an ambush! I got my vodka mostly from the airport DFS...it is $20+! Cannot afford the ones off normal shops. I will normally get them when I travel or else get friends to help me to buy...I will also keep a close lookout for the limited edition during X'mas, sure got some funky design. I even have some mini ones that comes in metal can which I got my friend to buy from UK. I started my collection many years ago...dunno whether still drinkable.

It seem like my blogchat has been abandoned for quite a while, can see dustballs rolling around already. There is not much happening to our home at the moment, we are just busy moving our personal things, cleaning the place and doll up our home with some of our toy and vodka collections. The Robocon toys are Mrs Sumobear's favourite collection!

Hi Bubsbunny, I think based on your situation, you should call up the supplier if that is their standards. If it is their product standard, then you cannot blame them because you have signed the dotted line...BUT if the supplier claimed that no such thing will happen, then it will be the workmanship problem. No point banging your contractor's table because they are immune to such things already. You have to find out from the main source. Or else you can go to other floor lamination company to source for some information like a 1st time customer. No point comparing home to home because the contractors will always say that things are different so cannot compare. My problem is that my contractor gave me fake "ICI" Paint so I called the HQ of ICI and blasted the people there and they gave me an explanation of their products and advise me what to do to my contractors. Always get your proof before blasting. Do u have pics to show?

Hi... You have great photography...I think most people in this forum has seen enough of all the renovation works of their own and other people's home...probably you can fast forward to the finish home? Hehe Looking forward to see your finished home... Very curious, what camera and lense are you using? Looks like a wide-angle lense.

Haha...I had deployed several troops of soldiers around our home. Well...most products are "Made in China" nowadays, even IKEA's stuffs. I have seen some nice ones at the departmental stores but they are kind of expensive and in the end i turn back to IKEA's frames. IKEA's frames are not good quality, glass panel cracked when I try to remove the frame's backing...
-
Ikea has the most affordable and widest range of frames. You can try the big departmental stores like Tangs, Robinsons and Isetan. Or else you have to go for custom frames...

Contractors can never catch the subtle hint because they are oscar award winning act-blurs! You are not the 1st and last customer of them, so their tricks will always be the same...you have to be firm of what you want or else nothing will be done. My contractor suffered alot under my hand because he gave me alot of problems, everytime I have to wave my laser pointer like a light saber to show him his mistakes until he is so scared of me. Erm I do enjoy waving my laser pointer because I love to see his eyes roll to catch the red spot...evil me...haha

Design of door handles does not determine the durability, it is more of the aesthetic. Normally the given knobs by the contractors are standard ones...unit price about $5 - $8. I went to those door handle shop before and the price is NASA rocket high...bedroom door knob can cost about $100.... Qualitiy of tiles can always check back with the supplier beside the contractor...sometimes it is really poor workmanship but your contractor taichi the blame to supplier. It happens to me...so I check with my renovation material suppliers when I feel something is not right. When I have concrete evidences, I blast my contractor and he is speechless and have to rectify. IDs and Contractors will tackle you because of your ignorance...so homeowners should be more careful and outsmart them.
-
I think I am one of the unfortuately experienced homeowner who has a major problem with tiling but I do hope to see lesser people like me. The lesson that I had learnt is when handling a contractor/ID, you have to know your stuffs so that you will know what is right and wrong...all contractors/IDs will promise the sky to get your signed contractor but things changed after that. And the most important thing that you must bare in mind is that you should not expect a showroom condition from them. I am not sure if your wire casing is refering to trunking...I have huge gaps between trunking and walls/ceilings so I questioned my contractor why and he shamelessly trying to rip me off by asking me to top up $$$ so that his worker can use silicon to fill up the gap...but that is nonsense to me because he is very prepared that I have no one to turn to once the renovation starts. In the end, I touch up the gaps in my home with silicon all by myself.

Aggressive budget...spend wisely!
-
Sound like you have a good budget to spend for your renovation...I think even though you have friends to help you out with renovation, you still have to be careful because things may become complicated after awhile when comes to compromising and money matter. Hopefully you get a good ID and not a bad contractor like my case...Feel free to post and people in this forum will be super duper happy to spam with feedbacks...haha

Resale value will still have, it all depends on the condition of the toy... I have a friend who collects Transformer since young and I think his collection can allow him to open a Transformer Museum and the value of his toy collection goes up to about $60K. Even though an old toy has its value to sell, there may not be buyer because it is very expensive so mostly the limited collectors will buy them.
-
Will not fetch much $$$, just pass down to your kids...

Your Panton looks almost real...
-
I miss all the old toys! I can still remember alot of my toys when i was still a kid but all throw away when I moved...so wasted. Some of them can consider retro collector's toys.

Hi all... Initially I wanna create a war field as a display but I think it is too much work and not necessary so I think the lamp base looks kind of cute, just like a little island for them...haha The small ones were bought as a packet from some toy shop many years back, the tall soldier with the rifle is bidded by my boss on Ebay and he gave it to me and another tall soldier with the telecommunication set is a gift from my colleague which she bought during her vacation in Japan... My troops are international recruitment...I am still looking various sizes. I think all this are cheap and cute display, most importantly they are memory toys.

Our home security troops...on guard 24/7

Another option that you can consider to do that may save some cost will be getting plain mounted canvas or mount plain coloured fabric and paint on it using brushes, stencils, rubber stamp...I am sure your kids can help out and they will sure enjoy it. You can just drip and splash paint...
-
Thanks for the explanation...
-
The reason why they can call such price is because they have dominated the local industry with wallpaper and fabrics. On another side, I think their fabric should be premium quality in order to sell at such price. Erm... actually I am eyeing for a piece of fabric at a shop near my office but it is $100+ per metre...my darling will kill me if I buy. It is a piece that I cannot forget after so many months.

Thanks Cantona. Aiyah...you all huh! Make me feel so paiseh...it is something small, do not make it sound like I have conquered the world like that. Later I disappear from this forum.... Sorry mist for the unrelevant topic in your blogchat....paiseh.
-
Erm...it is really subjective and I think it is better to buy extra coz the extra cloth will not cost much. The excess can use to make other things. I wanna sew a soft toy with my excess but lazy to start... Where do you intend to go and buy the fabric? Heard that Goodrich carries a wide range of fabrics...

er...dun broadcast until so mega leh. Nothing big, it is just that I am being lucky that the company whom I did the design for is invited by the museum to showcase their products for an science and art exhibition. I just feel happy that my stuff travelled...nothing else to gain. St James!?!? Linda the mother figure....dun you need to tell bedtime story to you kids? PS. I am right hander...
