Summerrain, I had a hard time with my contractor too during renovation...almost end up with a fight. We had a gangster talk at my renovating home...both of us has our own backup. Very stress at that moment but I am also at the verge of bashing him up. The problems he gave me are: 1) A cracked floor caused by acid washing that look like the dried up and cracked land of the sahara desert. 2) Wrong kind of paint, I spec ICI paints but he use Jotun paint that is 30% cheaper. 3) Order wrong tiles and want me to absorb. 4) Gave me a lot of excuses when I question him on his workmanship. 5) Workers place chemical on a completed cabinet and caused the laminates to have bubbles. 6) Plastered wall cracked badly and try to cover up with paint but the paints are in patches. 7) Workers scratched my toilet seats, deep cuts. 8) Worker smashed one of my toilet basin. 9) No warranty after renovation, I am paying for the workers to come back to fix the defects. Most contactors will have their loads of excuses to tackle the newbies of home renovation so whenever there is a problem, I have to do a thorough research and take photos to tackle him. So far most of the time, I have outsmart him or slap him with the research and evidence that I am holding. Ultimately the lesson that I have learnt is NOT TO GO FOR CHEAP THINGS, it is Money versus Quality!

Hi... My tracklight problem is most likely to be caused by the tracklight adaptors which i have been cheated when I buy them loh. I have replaced the adaptors with the old reliable ones at my previous home, everything seem ok. I need the tracklights to highlight my decors... I saw reprodepot website before but I think theirs are the fabrics for clothes if I am not wrong. Probably some bright floral or retro print will be good for my chair. Anyway I will pop by spotlight to checkout. Erm...I am an Anti-Courts person and the fabrics at IKEA look disappointingly ugly loh...
-
Hi Mist... Wanna check with you where am I able to find uphostery fabrics, the thicker kind of fabrics? So far i have only see the fabrics for clothes. I have found an abandoned retro chair at club street, and I am thinking to find a bright flowery fabrics to wrap it up.

Haha so am I....I was excited with my colours initially but now is like er.....erm.....should be...dunno..maybe...could be better kind of situation. I am still thinking of the new colour scheme and design but dunno for what... erm so am I the "ORH LOO LOO" or "ANG KONG KONG" clan or assorted?

It really depends on what kind of things that you are DIYing...like the toys that I have made, every piece sure got a little problem but they are special in their own way. As for home stuffs, I always prefer to something that is interchangable or at least some cheap that you can throw without feeling hard pain on the $$$ spent. No need sumo size, i am the one for her to hug already....haha
-
Haha...Cannot lah, my skill not very good yet. Do to kill time can already or let Mrs Sumobear have a good laugh after looking at them loh. Normally after making them, I do not have the heart to part with them.

Well...I always believe in a design principal "Continuity ". If i am not careful with the things that I will buy for our home or how I want to place the things, the overall interior will be affected in term of space management and design. Nicely coordinated and decorated home will give people a pleasant feeling...can I call it the spiritual balance? Thank you Hope to see your completed home soon...post more pix

Mine are Osram Decostar too, that is the only brand that I will buy. Speaking of the osram halogen bulb, there is some improvement like an extra screen at the front of the bulb right? I do not remember seeing the screen with my old bulbs but the old ones are still surviving after 5yrs...incredible man! Not sure if my bulb is energy saving...where did you get yours and how much? I think after the light testing over this coming weekend, I am going get some new light adapters already. The current one are purchased at a warehouse where I am shopping for other things and out of conveniences then buy them.
-
Wah...u so resourceful...so detailed research on tracklights. Well...last night I tried mounting 2 old light adaptors and they are doing fine, never explode...will try to on again over the weekend to test. i just hope that the fault lies with the new light adapters and not other problems like the track or wiring...or else I have to incurr more cost.

Tea ceremony is at our new home...so I want to create a nice enviroment...

Sigh...I got so much thoughts for DIYS but I am simply plain lazy doing them or else I am occupied with things....Thinking to do something to our home for the wedding day, maybe some flower arrangement, mural or something else...still brainstorming what can I do with the chinese "double happiness"
-
Nice coloured home...I feel happy seeing them!
-
I will try tonite and hope everything is fine....after so many saga with my home reno, I am mentally worn out already....
-
erm I dunno how loh...I think it is 50/50 chance for either the lighting or wiring problem....but then again I think it is the tracklights are giving problem because most of the tracks are having problems...other lighting like toilet and kitchen's IKEA pendant lights are still ok... I am planning to use the existing tracklight adapters from my old home and mount them to the track to test...those adapters have not fail me for 5+ years and I have not change much bulb since day 1 I moved in to that home....My worry now is whether the main problem is with the track and will it spoil my reliable old tracklights....sigh
-
Haha...never expect my bears can trigger your interest in buying soft toys....Softtoys are cute but very difficult to keep them clean...so my bears are mini ones so they are easier to manage and I can finish making them faster too...the easy way out hehe...

i dun have confident with that shop's product already loh....but the strange thing is that so many blew within 2 days at different areas...so I do not know if it is the adapters giving problem or the electrical work. Our home depend on track lights in the night but now we are so scared to on them in the night already. Mrs Sumobear always got a shocked when the light blow, it pop so loud.... I thought my worries for home is over but now...it is the light....sob sob
-
I see...but if you feel unsafe, then better change it. I am also having a major problem with lighting recently...my track lights are blowing one by one. everything is doing fine until recently...called the electrician and he totally push all the problems to light fixtures and ask me to get replacement...gosh that is so much $$$ coz I have quite a number of track lights abd on top of that I have to pay my elecrician for doing the replacement. I dunno how..so upset one again our home.
-
Yah I am getting the electrician to come and check but I do need some info and advice from people, just in case the electrician tries to push the blame to my light fixtures....but then again I do have doubts on the light adapters too. Do not know how to explain the light adapters because so many exploded at different points within 2 days after we have move in for a few months. The electrician just called and he claimed that my light fixtures got problem and not his wiring....I expected that kind of answer before he call. Then he advise me to change all the light fixtures which is like... 1 x 3m track 5 x 1m track 10 x track light adapters then he still have to charge me workmanship. Gosh that is additional cost! I dunno how and I am super duper tight on my pocket.....

Hi Yoongf, Thanks for the info...so far most of the track lights that have blown are the adapters and not the bulb. There is 2 occasion that the light blown and all power got tripped and 1 dimmer is damaged. When I got my adapters...the suppliers gave me funny assorted bulbs which the colour of lights are different so to play safe, I change all the bulbs to Osram halogen. The dimmer is fixed by the electrician so i do not think he will make such a mistake by getting the fan control. Then all these problems only happens recently after living there for so many months...so many light damaged at the same time...it is quite questionable on whether is it the electricity supply or the light fixtures got problem... Both my wife and I are scared to on the light right now....the "POP" is shocking...
-
I do not know:(...called my contractor but no sure if he is going to help me as we are in a bad term during renovation.
-
Hi everyone, Can anyone advise me what has happened to my track light. I have shifted in to my newly renovated home for quite a while...probably like 3 months...my lightings are doing well until recently my track lights start to blow one by one...one of the exploded light even cause the dimmer to be damaged. 4 light adaptors at different locations are blown. i am so stressed and scared to turn on the lights at night because they will blow with a loud pop.
-
GOSH...the popping tiles look scary!
-
Well...You can always "DaPao" the broken pieces for them to see...I did that for my frame when I return. Recently I bought a stainless steel top from IKEA for my study table, it rusted...and gosh...it is from China. I find it very troublesome to make an exchange so we just live with it.
-
Can I call you Ms Neo instead of Mist? hehe... Erm actually when you purchase the light, is it indicated for toilet use? I know IKEA will label their lights for wet area. But I think you can feedback to IKEA about their products...I think they will refund you with a voucher when goods are returned with a valid reason. Like my case, I bought a big picture frame (Ribba) from IKEA and when I try to remove the backing to insert my picture...the glass panel in front cracked into half. I went back to IKEA with the broken frame and they gave me a refund voucher after listening to my explaination. I realised that it is made in China and many of the frames on the IKEA shelves cracked and shattered too. On top of that I think IKEA have been calling back some purchased products lately because of manufacturing defects.
