  1. Is your AC discharge directly into drainage hole? If no, it's advisable to extend it because the discharged liquid from AC is corrosive so it will penetrate through over time. I had similar problem with my AC.
  2. Hi, I am as troubled as you with my ceiling with peeling and mildew problem. I did my checks by asking Nippon Paint and online research, there are generally different causes to the problem that we are facing. One of the possible cause is moisture which the area is not well ventilated and surfaces that has condensation which are not dried up properly. Toilets are generally a wet area so high volume of moisture, bedrooms could be the temperature difference between your room and your neighbour’s room above which they turned on aircon and you are not so moisture is formed at your ceiling. Lastly is your home resale? Because there maybe old paint underneath the new ones. Scrapping off old paint in reno is additional cost again. As for sealant, it is not a mandatory item to be included in renovation quote as basic paint is sufficient for most homes. Sealant is optional which many people will skip because it's extra cost to homeowner who may think it is unnecessary.
  3. I am keen to see what you have but I can get to see some of the items that are mentioned in the thread
  4. Thanks for sharing...I must have skipped some posts and thought it was a second-ownership. Have you tried the Chan Huat for lighting? The biggest light supplier in Singapore. But anyway I believe you are pretty much done up....Nice Pad! The price point of stuffs today have shifted quite a lot since I last did my renovation 5 years ago. My pocket is about to bleed!
  5. Oh dear....sad to hear about the mishap of the reno but I am sure the result will be good at the end. I am sure you are after the "bucket of gold" at the end of the "rainbow". Rainbow as your home, bucket of gold as the love, warmth and happiness. Tough luck will be over soon. I had a very bad experience with my renovation too...back in 5 years ago and it got me really depressed and cash tight. Wedding+Home+Loan all the same time....contractor promised the sky and deliver the defects. Hang on!
  6. Hi, LEDs is definately a money-saving factor, less heat and much durable. However the crucial point is the LED bulb that you are using, reputable brand like Philips is good. I was using the standard tungstun bulb and changed to LED eventually. Just curious how much did your spend on the lighting and electric works? I am doing my maths as I am about to move on to a new pad next year. ___________________________________________ Just curious, did you hack away the living room flooring that was left behind by the previous owner?
  7. Nice moodboard that you have for your home....Interesting to see the furnitures and other stuffs to fall in to place.
  8. Hi oonik girl...I remember you too!!! We are all senior citizens in renotalk already....aging....haha! My desire to have a second child is getting stronger each day but it really all depends on my wife as she is going to be the one who needs to bear the most responsibility. My wife and I know that none of us can stop working and we have already try to minimise our expenses as much as possible...looking after a kid is not easy and 2 will be even be a bigger challenge especially when there is no domestic helpers or in-law/parents to help out. Finance is our biggest concern, I believe every parents will want the best for their children but it is a challenge with the given economic. We chicken out several times because of that...
  9. Nice home...are the dining chairs from Modernica? Care to share the cost? I am always interested in either the dowel or wireframe legs...
  10. Nice findings of decors....I am really fascinated by the furniture in BKK, they are really cheap but the worries will be the quality and condition.Need the courage to buy.
  11. Hi everyone, It has been ages since my last post in RenoTalk, been active in the forum when I was doing my home renovation but now I am busy being a husband and father. I have a daughter who is coming to 3 years very soon and really enjoyed my fatherhood. My wife and I are caught in a dilemma of whether to have a second child, we want to have another one but got worried about the finance and time. My kid is in the playschool right now which I will drop her off before going to work everyday and my wife has a job that need to start work early and sometimes coming home back late. I feel that we should give our daughter a playmate and most importantly a sibling, the idea is on hold with a reason "Maybe next year when our daughter is older and manageable." I believe most mothers will understand the difficulties of looking after a child when the child chooses mother over father, and sometimes the child can be unmanageable and give a lot of stress to the mother. I realised my wife's temper has worsen over the years but I try my best to accommodate and help her in whichever way I can to ease her burden. When we think of the joy that our daughter is giving us, having another kid will be promising for us but when it comes to the stress, a step back is taken. It is also tricky to have a second child when there is no one to take care when my wife and I are away for work. Although our parents and in-law are staying very nearby but it may have some difficulties shuttling around earlier in the morning before work. Is there anyone facing similar issue? Can share advise and experience? Thanks!
  12. It is the IKEA Expedit Shelve...I love the simplicity of the design and price! Due to the shortage of space...some of my vodka are displayed in the dark of my storeroom....
  13. Oh dear...it has been ages since I last entered Renotalk and so I am not aware of the activities in my thread...so sorry for not answering. For the photography works which I have done, I use cameras range from vintage camera, toy cameras, film SLR, digital compacts, digital SLR... Here are some mini upgrades of my home. Life has been busy after entering fatherhood, there are just too much things to be done in such a limited period of time. A roll of vintage prints for my living room...simple and cheap DIY with scanning, printing and framing. A set of retro drinking glasses for $2 from Cash Converters...they are dirt cheap but just need to compromise with the condition.
  14. It has been a long time since I last DIY something for my home because I am too busy with my daughter and addiction for photography. Here is a recent DIY which I have done with an IKEA MOPPE drawer which I have bought and kept wrapped for years, maybe 7-8 years. With some wrapping papers and cut & paste, I get a better looking cabinet which I can add to my display bench for storage of letters and keys. There are more to DIY, just have to find time....
  15. Nice place....Love the window grilles! Is it left behind from the previous owner or customised? I think you need some nice painting or photography prints for your walls...
