it was a frantic weekend to re-paint, and then trying to shove the painter over to get some wall drilling work done this weekend. i learnt a very importand lesson about blue-tinted windows. if you choose light colors, or any mixed colors with some transparent base, the blue will "bite" into the color. based on my personal experiemce, i tried different shades of light grey, and all turn out bluish during the day, and in white-light conditions. it is only in the dark corners that i see the shade that matches the paint catalog. anyhow....no more re-painting for now, since the culprit was really the windows, and not nippon or ici....lol

kitchen shelves are finally done....yeah!
-
yes it does. it is just the basic track and hinges though. does not include any fancy baskets, wire baskets, corner unit and accessories. every bottom shelves are drawers, and no fancy top-mounted blum accessories. those are the really expensive stuff. a single blum shelf unit is already 500+. oh...and i did not get the blum myself. got contractor to put that in the quotation, and then he instructed the carpenters to add that in. all my carpentry is done in factory in JB, so i guess that is why my contractor managed to do this. but i think his margin is marginal on this kitchen shelves. the trick is to create bigger shelves(wider or deeper, or both), so you can minimized on the tracks. The heavy duty tracks cost more, but i think it makes more sense. hinges are not so bad as they are fairly inexpensive.

yup. all tracks/hinges (except for dish-drainer) are from blum. carpentry is about 2.2K. 2500mm(top level) + 3600(L shape bottom level) + 1000(side table), not inclusive of table top. here's the side table.

this is what i was talking about the horribly wrong paint job. too many layers in too short a time. i did another test when i got the painter to paint a small section with a few more layers. the paint color did harmonize after 7 layers, and the color become a much darker tone than the original paint. the painter boss says will be fixed this this weekend. really hope he can get this settled, cos next week will be move-in week!

sneak preview of the WIW due to the size of WIW, can't afford full laminate. so i did a combination of pvc skin with laminates on the door as well as edgeband on the carpentry edges. the silver pvc skin turn out prettier than what i would have imagine.

it's being a crazy few days.... firstly....paint job went horribly wrong in the living room. the poor FT worker painted 4 layers in 3 hours, resulting in high contrasting spots and tears. then, carpenter delayed their arrival by one day. but all is forgiven when the carpentry went up for 2 days, and i would say it has been 95% good work by them so far. sneak preview of the kitchen works.

there are 2 brands for the gas heater. both come with different shower set offer.
-
if you don't really need the rainshower head, you can try the citygas "gas heater" + "mix + shower head" combo. for a all-in price of 300++ it is a pretty good deal.

hi guys, i'm moving house pretty soon, when i call up the transport co, they say they will only carry/transport my 42" TV, but they do not know how to remove the wall mount. can anyone share how to dismantle the wall mount?
-
lol...you gave me a retirement plan idea. room 1 sell pasta, room 2 sell ramen, dining room sell drink, hall sell chicken rice....
-
no need. you can add a bracket to join the hot/cold pipes to the mixer on the outside. if you are building a false wall, you can add a standalone mixer and rainshower mounted on the wall. it is fairly inexpensive, but you need to pay for the wall.

hey guys, help help......does any one know of any shops that sells similar lock sets?

i've been struggling with the color scheme for the last few weeks, and not having an interior designer is not helping....lol...on new years day itself, i literally camped inside my house for 6 hours trying to figure out what color goes where. here's a sneak peek of the outcome.... kinda looking like an american coffee chain outlet....

laminate flooring is finally up today. the installers were really fast in the process, considering it is all 3 bedrooms and living/dining area, and they had to keep moving my furniture from one area to another while they lay the planks. bedroom laminate choice living room choice

LED downlights and cove lights were done on tuesday and wednesday... my ceiling height is below "normal hdb standards", and hence the lack of any hanging lights. thanks to the recommendation of fellow RT folks, i managed to get a really good deal for these lights from JB. views of living room and dining. one of 2 balcony light. the other one bulb popped as soon as it was switched on.

my little purchase today
-
i thought the quotation is a little too high. and the quotation has insufficient details. e.g designer tiles but without indication of the price range of tiles you are entitled to. for your second question, i spend about 2.5K during a warehouse sale event, bought everything from one shop.
