Serangoon North Renovation By Defong Interior Design

i had the sane low ceiling problem. initially, i did not intend to hack all the living/bedroom flooring, but on first day of hacking (on balcony area), the contractor found that there was 4" of underlay, and told me if i want to hack everything else. so it was hack 4", and put 2" back, so i will get a 5cm gain in height. even though 5cm wasn't much, i decided to do it. cos if i regret later, it will be an expensive lesson. but......it's still too low to put any ceiling fans, so i'm using the turbine fans now. i have been happy with them so far. -

i think i know what he meant. i assume your are getting new doors, probably a smooth veneer door. and i further assume your existing door frame is not in a good condiion, probably the old school metal/wooden frame that has seen it's good days. i would think he wants to give you a smooth transition from wall to door. how to plaster, i've no idea, cos my contractor says there is nothing he can do both my wood and metal frame. if you are using laminate floor, maybe you can ask those guys to use the foor skirting on your door? -

wah....already got extra angpao on the first day. among all my "Extras" that i incurred, i think the one that i felt money was well spent was the plastering. beware to double check on the plastering quality on the ceiling though, as any imperfections will be highly visible. if you have new door frame, why do you need to plaster? -
can slowly add the accent pieces for the colors. chairs, paintings, vases.....slowly slowly....make sure renovation is done as perfectly as possible first.

if i put all my dining chairs together, you will see 6 different unique pieces. crazy hor....haha.... 6 different unique pieces easier to resell if you get sick on one ma....if i have a uniform set, then it has to go as a set. no money to do that leh.... nope....balcony at original height. i did not level up, as i wish the balcony to be a distinct area by itself do it i bought home protection insurance that covers 40k of renovation, and 30k of "removables". if spiderman comes and steal, i can still file for a claim with grille or without.

sad to hear we have another contractor that bailed out of the job. hope that you don't have any major rectification problems. i've moved in for 2 months already, and even though the contractor is assisting in some rectification works, i still have to get my hands dirty. e.g. he gave me tha painter for extra half day, and between choosing to use him for selected repainting jobs or to clean up the miniscue paint droppings, i choose the earlier. i had to do the latter myself then...

agree with BY. the email is a written form of contract. seller should stick to contract. the class is meant for fire insulatuion. (i.e. fire retardant property) http://singapore-aircon-selection.blogspot.com/ Go for 'Class 1' or 'Class O' PSB certified insulation though i would say it is not that important as the rating does not reflect the quality and insulation properties on the material. Nevertheless get them to show u the sample. Ensure this will be use thru out the home and not half or part of it only. Equally imortant is the thickness ranging from 1/4'', 3/8'', 1/2'' and 3/4'' (the usual thickness for residential) You have to ask them what thickness they are providing for the insulation. Using a thicker insulation also means better insulation properties but bigger trunking and higher cost. ** Insulation should have the brand, dimensions/thickness and 'Class Rating' printed on it.

i was at ikea last week, and i found my dream coffee table.....the ULLSTORP coffee table. But i already had an existing one from Lifestorey, so what can i do with it? sell it? put it in the bedroom? i decided to goof around and throw it into the balcony. hmm....it looks promising there, and i tried throwing both my dining chairs into the mix, and voila.....balcony prototype #1 what do you think about this look? any comments/suggestions are all welcomed.

let's hope they are not the doing of ants....i had similiar looking dust specks on my floor for a couple of weeks, before i finally realized they are from my teak table, where the ants found a groove line, and made a home inside of it. once i had the wood filler cover up the groove line, that solved the problem.

no la....i didn't own these. i was just saying if i had bought them, where to find the correct resting spot for them. that website link looked ok, it seems like they are targetting US buyers. you can drop them a mail to see if they can give you a small discount since it is shipping to SG. but at that price, i would just buy. most times, these ebay sites would give good discounts for 2nd item and up though.

rememeber to check seller ratings first before buying.....

i got a lot of light bulbs to sell though....lai lai lai....$2 each. all can test before you buy.

i think most of my HK/CN shipments do takes about 3 weeks. Mei Guang or Best light....can't remember the name. BY went there to get her lights. but there is only the display set left. cos the last time i was there, i ask for 2 tom, or 2 dick, or 2 harry, and they said no stock. i didn't know then that tom, dick, harry is a set. did you see my lights? there are 3 bulbs to every holder. my kitchen has 9 19W lights....very bright. i was already thinking of changing to 9W globe lights...should soften the lights a bit.

i think JB only selling 200 RM.
-
i still cannot find a resting place in my pade for these 3. unless i use them to replace my current 3 kitchen lights.
