wah...your laminate gaps quite a lot....how did the contractor say he will fix? p.s..watch out for the infamous wood markers...they just use it to "cover" the gaps.

contractor may have more than a team of carpentry sub=contractors. it seems like he is also not familiar with this new team, and hence his comments about the poor worksmanship. seriously, you can be frank with your contractor. you will hold 3rd payment until this is all fixed. if you agree previously that this rack will be in this shelf, they will have to make good. not tell you chin-chai la, under hob also can.

there's one of the many "industry" excuses.....e.g. the tiles are uneven. hello, when they provide you quotation, they already factor in 20% of wastage material to cater to this kind of situations. heehee....how come i also sound angry leh. next time when they ask for money, you can also say your wallet very hard, money cannot come out.

hi pete, i assume the bookcase are painted using water based paint. do you encounter any issues, e.g. scratches, finger prints on the paintjob?

not surprising for study room. my study table already needs 6 socket points for PC, amp, laptop, monitor, printer, and handphone charger. with more points, you can control the wires running all over ma. p.s. i only have 2 double gang in my study....mistake. sob sob////

did you do back to back electrical points? e.g. if you run the electrical trunking in the room, to the room electrical point. From that point, you can add an adjoining point in the living room. this will reduce any unnesscary trunking in the living room.

on a serious note, talk to your contractor to see if he can withhold the payment to the carpenter, if both you and the contractor find the quality of work insatisfactory. if you had not paid the contractor the 3rd payment (i think 3rd payment is for the carpentry), then withhold it until a good product is delivered.

under the tiles is permissable i think, cos my contractor volunteer to do it for me for free. but you will have no way to "touch" it once it is seal up.

buy home contents insurance loh....like that you will have peace of mind. anyway i was reading the fine print of the insurance proposal form just now. it says it will cover contents lost to a forceful entry. but it did not define forceful. uninvited guest thru an open window is considered forceful, so must the monkey cut the grille, smash the window before it is considered forceful?
