  1. I use this mover called Andy, and he usually quotes me between $220 - $250 depending on size of items (read = heaviness) per trip to fill his 14ft truck. Has at least 3 other men to help pack your things, able to dismantle/setup large furniture. Is booked usually 2 days ahead.
  2. My tv choices and uses: Sports/soccer > Plasma, get Panasonic Gaming console, PS3 > Sony Bravia LCD Online gaming > iMac (irrelevant here i know, but wanna emphasize it's reflective screen actually makes colors and images POP!)
  3. ah .... i just joined the forum so u prob have ur problem ironed out. wallpaper popping out? most likely it was due to poor installation techniques and/or installation materials. wallpaper from korea isn't the cause, at least to my experience. its the contractor that did the installing. i had a wallpapers done up by goodrich and in my more than 3 years there, it never waned, never peeled, never popped. the only thing i got were questions on who did it. they didn't even use sealer on the wall beforehand!
  4. I went about choosing my LED lights with the initial headache you are faced with. TMI - too much information is akin to having too many cooks, which will spoil the soup.... I decided to get the better choice quickly by way of elimination (the better choice quickly over the best choice, which may come never) rule 1. even made in China products can be good! What is not made there now? rule 2. all products lines have pros and cons. choose which is your priority to favor. the rest are just bonuses. rule 3. branded usually is better, due to easier to replace, generally more reliability, and the supplying shop has more obligations to you. rule 4. accept made in China products! in the end, i went with Samsung LED lights. they can be dimmed, consume soooo little energy. easy to install, easy to replace. standardized parts. my maintenance of all my lights should be a breeze. LEDs have tons of pros. dimmed when its near end of lifespan? well, what about it being not heat generating in the first place as opposed to Halogen lamps? the heat alone .... turn on the fan, turn on the aircon. anyway, my point was, making the better choice soon is better than keeping my head spinning hearing all the differing stories. I got very very good prices for my lights and the dimmers, switches, electrical wiring to boot too! very happy. Oh i forgot to add this bit > Ordering your lights online? Oh no... don't. not a good idea at all.
  5. Anyone here with any tried and tested ways to maintain the leather on a sofa? what removes what kinda stains? what products clean best? what product maintains the leather best? any ideas would be greatly appreciated, am sure many people will find this helpful.
  6. That sure is a long long list. Most of the carpentry work looks very reasonably priced, at least to me it is. At $2.6k for the kitchen cabinets & $1.3k for the closet ... wow. hope the materials and workmanship is good. Check the quality of materials! that's where they can CHOP. and $720 for a 6ft tv console? amazing! do their designs look good? final quantum amount looks like a lot, but then again, you are getting the whole place all done up. Get the ID company to give a better discount la, otherwise, push them for free washing machine, microwave, that kinda thing.
  7. I did my home reno and got a few things can share. some good, some not so good. False ceiling design and installation (did not include painting) 1. Dining 2. Entrance 3. 3 Bedrooms >> abt $2.5k Color tinted mirror, entire wall mirrors >> very reasonable, extremely professional (Glasspoint, look for Ms. Evon) Electrical wiring for 4-bedder >> abt $1.5k (less actually) Lightings, LED lights, lamps >> also extremely reasonable (Both from Ms. Julia of Light Makers Pte Ltd) Painting works >approx$1k, very fast, very good. Paints used better than brands from stores (Raymond of Coozy Painting Services) Wallpaper/curtains >> i used a few different sources due to being too hasty in the beginning and buying paper from a company i wasn't sure about. cost is reasonable but as they have not been installed yet, i can't quite comment yet. Walk-in closet, in 3 sections for $1.8k. posting pics of this later. turned out very nice. installation was FAST, quality good. From OPSH.
  8. Totally agree, I got De Next Page to wallpaper 2 areas. They may appear to have 'showrooms' in several places but the installation works appears to be a OMO. And the young man even looked surprised that I was occasionally checking in on him as he applied sealer on my walls. The skill level is low. Quality of workmanship also appears below par. I have used Goodrich before and although they are pricey, at least I won't have to keep reminding myself this incident every time i see the walls. But cheap.....
