Time flies. The upgrading is going to start next Thursday! I am really excited but at the same time apprehensive of the 1001 things that can go wrong. Oh let's not mention the cost overrun. And many items I ordered from China has not arrived yet so I am crossing my fingers that everything would worked out well. Can you believe that I still have yet to decided on the color of my floor tiles? I would be packing, packing and packing over the next few days. As I am going to stay at the house while it is undergoing renovation, it is going to be dusty and dirty.

I would not be using the gold mosaic tiles as my ID sourced something I liked better. Unfortunately, he took the tile home before I remembered to take a photo. Just decided to get more tiles for the reno. More tiles pic silver tiles by PinkTissue, on Flickr And tiles rust by PinkTissue, on Flickr My ID would be sending applying the permit to apply for renovation plus give me paper boxes for packing on Tuesday. He said that if there are any last minute changes, they would need to be done by Tuesday as he would make the full payment for the reno items on Tuesday. Hoped I don't go to bed and wake up and decided to do the Zen theme instead.

This 'small' upgrading is turning into a monster project. I am so busy and tried with work that I am too lazy to pack my stuff away for the renovation which is going to start in less than 2 weeks. Soft Furnishings My late mum love the sofa set I bought when she got ill so that she could comfortably lie/sleep in the living room without being stuck at the bedroom all the time. As it has a lot of sentimental value, I am keeping the sofa set and gives it a new 'facelift' with a change of upholstery. The problem is that the upholstery cost more than a new sofa set. Sigh... OK. Now let's move on to the common toilet. The things are chosen by my dear sister since she would be the main user of the toilet. She has chosen a sea theme. Common Toilet Dolphin tap - I love it! IMG_0941 by PinkTissue, on Flickr Seashell mosaic IMG_0913 by PinkTissue, on Flickr Flower tiles for the shower area - personally I think it may be a mismatch but since it is only at the shower area which is distinct from the rest of the bathroom, should be ok. And these tiles are really, really expensive. 20120902_150846 by PinkTissue, on Flickr And my sis's favorite - the seashell toilet. Personally I think it is tacky but my sis insisted on it. Since she is paying for the common toilet, I better keep my mouth shut. b_5fex1g950269_0 by PinkTissue, on Flickr

I knew about how you feel. The same stuff is so unbelievably cheap that you could not help but to jump in joy. At first, I am apprehensive of getting substandard stuff, but most of the stuff are as good as those sold in Singapore. I realized that how 'backward' is Singapore in terms of variety of items. I happened to talk to a PRC seller who has a store in Singapore - he told me competition is so stiff in China that they constantly innovate just to survive. Aiyah, if know earlier, we could gather a few people and go to China & do group buy and sent back to Singapore in a container.

I was told by my ID to avoid electrical stuff because they are easily broken & warranty issues.

I wish I have seen your post earlier. My freight forwarder is based at Shanghai so I have to pay local postage. As I am not doing a full house renovation and my furniture is in good condition, there is no need to buy furniture. The only furniture I bought are from Indonesia. As they are made of kiln dried mahogany wood which is grown in Indonesia, it only makes sense to buy from Indonesia direct.

@Suyun on golden mosaic tiles I am afraid I cannot help you on the golden mosaic tiles. The pic I saw is a representation of the tiles my ID sourced for me - the actual color is slightly lighter and the 'size' of each tile is bigger. It is supposed to be a 'fake' mosaic tile - i.e. a big tile with 'several small mosaic'. As it is supposed to fill the entire shower area, I would die trying to clean the grout line if they are 'real' mosaic tiles.

People thought I am mad importing stuff from ebay and taobao. But it is so much cheaper. My neighbour who is also doing her renovation bought her Delta bathroom accessories from eBay when she realised the price is only 20% of the price sold in Singapore. Even after factoring the postage from US, she still makes a whopping saving of 50% of the Singapore retail price. I bought a lot of bathroom fittings from ebay/taobao with the exception of the shower set (because of warranty issue) and lights which I have to see for myself. As for tiles, I only bought feature wall tiles you cannot find in Singapore.

Looking forward to seeing more photos. I bought most of my renovation stuff from taobao. Part of my tiles also come from taobao as I could not find similar patterns locally.

I am so tired. Have been OTing everyday. I believed that it is the little accessories which shows off your own personality. Master Bedroom Toilet Bath Accessories Labrazel Crystal Vine Gold set made in Italy. This is pure indulgence. I won some vouchers and with newbie discount, manage to get some of the 'cheaper' items at a GREATLY discounted price. It is so expensive. The tissue box itself cost US$645 (not kidding). My vouchers enabled me to get a few items at a VASTLY discounted price. If not, I would not be able to afford any of the items there. According to the seller, the items are made of sparkling lead crystal is deeply cut with an enchanting leaf and vine pattern, then embellished by hand with gold. The pump dispenser features solid brass trim plated in 14 karat gold labrazel-crystal-vine-gold-italian-glass-bathroom-accessories by PinkTissue, on Flickr Gold Tooth Brush holder - I could not resist this. My mbr toilet screams so much of 暴发户 that the owner must have gold teeth. Since I am NOT going to get gold teeth, I got a Gold Tooth Brush holder instead Propaganda-tooth-at-oodotcomdotau by PinkTissue, on Flickr And lastly, an antique looking dustbin in rose gold. I draw the line at a GOLD dustbin so I opted for a softer rose gold T2w0OqXbxaXXXXXXXX_!!683616767 by PinkTissue, on Flickr My ID is very bemused by the items I bought for the bathroom. Did I mention that the master bedroom toilet vanity is in gold?

I think your house would look fantastic! Sometimes it is not only a reno that would make a house looks nice. It is little things like fittings & other little knick knacks that transform the place. Believe it or not, I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect dustbin that can fit the decoration of the house. I am pretty envious of forummers who could do reno at one whole stretch. As I would be still staying at the house while my house is being 'upgraded', I am forced to do the reno in phases.

Decorative Lighting at Master Bedroom Toilet In addition to the normal LED lighting, I also have decorative lighting at the master bedroom toilet. The only problem is that I am not sure which light to use. I bought these 2 lights. One is meant for the master bedroom toilet and the other along the passage way leading to the bedrooms. The first is a Gold Moroccan Glass lamp. IMG_0952 by PinkTissue, on Flickr The Second is a Venetian style Swaroski crystal light which cost a burning hole in my pocket. Again this is another one of those love at first sight. The top and bottom part of the light are hand blown glass domes with delicately hand painted flowers. IMG_0940 by PinkTissue, on Flickr The consensus seems to be that the Swaroski crystal light should be at the passage way where more people can see.....and also it is a very silly idea to have an expensive light in a wet and humid area like a bathroom. But I am torn. The Swaroski crystal light would give the master bedroom a much needed boost to lift itself from the realm of KTV toiler. So what do you think? Ahhh......my eyes......

I love it too. My ID did mutter that he could just do a decal on a normal white WC. I think it cost $349. My ID pointed out that it is above the $250 budget he allocated for each toilet. But after some negotiation, he agreed to absorb the cost You could find the complete collection here http://www.beds.sg/bathroom/toilet-bowls-wc.html If you want to see the real thing, you can find it at Spazio Bath & Kitchen 513 Balestier Road

The infamous Durai tap. That is what a lot of people has been telling me when they caught a glimpse of my gold tap.
-
My ID together with the sales girl (after seeing the pic of my gold tap), tried their very best to get a gold WC. But......it just reminds me one of the toilets in those spa where the secret society met where they discussed their 'underground' business. I think I have been watching too many of those Hong Kong serial shows. The gold WC cost I think around 1k which is way above my budget. I did consider getting black WC but scrap the idea quickly when I imagined how poo would look in a black WC.

I would be embarking on a very slow upgrading journey on 1 Nov 12. I am starting off with upgrading 2 out of 3 toilets, 2 out of 3 rooms, creating a new walk-in wardrobe, re-wiring the whole house and repainting the whole house. The rest of the house would be done mid next year (?). Let's start with the mbr toilet. I initially wanted to have a Zen style toilet. But I took a 180 degree turn and it becomes what my ID call the 'Sultan of Brunei toilet'. I call it the KTV toilet....the no-taste type one and my friend who has engaged the same ID, gawked when she saw the design term the mbr toilet 'gaudy but nice toilet'. Why is the toilet call Sultan of Brunei (ID term), KTV no taste style (my term) and 'gaudy but nice' (friend's term) Let's start off with a sneak preview of the hardware. I am too lazy to take the pics of the actual items as they are nicely packed in boxes.
