  1. Master Bedroom Tiled Wall The tile wall is up! Looks a bit weird without trimming and old color paint. I am drooling at the thought of my French bed placed in front of it! Untitled by PinkTissue, on Flickr An even closer look at the tiles Untitled by PinkTissue, on Flickr
  2. I love the LED shower head!!! I couldn't find one with the shower head in gold so have to give up.
  3. Master Bedroom Bathroom - Work-in-Progress I am quite paiseh about the master bedroom bathroom tiles. I changed my mind twice - once because of mismatch and the other because of miscommunication. What's more, both times, tiles arrived at my house and have to return to Soon Bee Huat's warehouse. My ID warned me NO MORE changes allowed I also miscalculated how expensive the new tiles are. They are Egyptian tiles and according to my ID, Middle Eastern tiles are really expensive. I always said I did not want a BLACK/DARK bathroom. But I still ended with one because I really love the tiles Apparently I am the second person in Singapore who bought this particular set of tiles according to Soon Bee Huat and they requested for a picture of the completed bathroom. Pics cannot convey the true beauty of the tiles. The tiles are not actually black but they got a 'smokey' effect which makes them look ethereal. 4. Common Bathroom - Work-in-Progress Parapet up so that my sis would sit while bathing. Shower screen, vanity and bath accessories would be ready early next week. Finally a usable bathroom next week. IMG_1301 by PinkTissue, on Flickr
  5. This is the LAST TIME I would stay in while my house is undergoing renovation. My sister was sick at the beginning of the reno and the schedule was thrown off as the workers concentrated on her room and common bathroom. Then, I for sick a few days back. The dust generated everyday is really horrible. Technically, my minor reno should be completed by next Saturday. Not sure whether this could be completed. Some updates. I am really worried whether my wall tiles would look horrible. And maybe I should have stuck to wallpaper even though maintenance may be a problem. Tiles turned out to be really nice. The moment you step into my house, you cannot but help to draw your eyes to the wall of tiles. The wall still needs a few touches and trimming but it is already giving a 'wow' effect. My sis thinks it is a bit 'too much'. But I like it. The tiles look beautiful in any lighting. 6. Your renovation is coming nicely. Love your switches. So tempted but they would not feed my decor. With your furniture coming in on 21 Nov, you are ready to move in any time.
  7. Actually $610 is cheap. The tiles weighed almost half a ton. I am using a freight forwarder not an agent.
  8. Sorry to hear that you have to sell your bed. I also got a slight problem with the walking space. However, as nothing is fixed yet, my ID still can do some magic.
  9. We have several built in cabinets & cupboards still in very good condition so it would be a waste to tear them down. My sister wanted a French theme. So my ID overlay the existing cabinets & cupboard with laminate. I am not sure whether that would work but my ID said he could 'Frenchify' then. I must say I am pretty impressed by the work so far. It is not completed yet with trims and door knobs. You be the judge. Untitled by PinkTissue, on Flickr
  10. I shipped via sea. 8-10 days from the day the goods arrived at the warehouse. So sometimes it is dependent on where your seller is located. The agent I used is based at Canton which is why I bought all my stuff at Canton. But then if the seller delay dispatching the item, there is nothing much the agent could do and may take as long as 2-3 weeks.
  11. Congrats on your new flat! Wishing you a smooth renovation ahead.
  12. I bought bulky items from taobao - including over 200 pieces of tiles, a king size bed and a bed side cabinet. Arrived intact. Shipping for the tiles, bed and bedside table cost around $610. Arrived by ship and takes around 10 days.
  13. Suddenly felt very sad as I came across a forumer's blog saying that her grandmother passed away and missed her very much. I lost my mum in July this year. After 100 days, decided to embark on a reno so both my sis and I would have a fresh start. I missed my mum very, very much and I think she would enjoy the reno progress although she may not like my taste. For some reason, I kept remembering that peach color bathroom set I hunted for in my last reno. My mum had decided on peach color tiles in the bathroom and she wanted a peach color bathroom set - mirror, basin, WC etc. I remembered that moment of triumph of getting the right shade bathroom set that I called my mum excitedly over the phone that I found 'it'. That feeling was so real that it felt that it only happened a few minutes ago that I called my mum and my mum asking for confirmation that I got the 'right shade'. Mum, I miss you
  14. Now enjoying the business suite at Intercontinental Hotel, courtesy of my friend V who is also renovating. She couldn't stand the dust and decided to check into the hotel over the weekend. And she invited me Finally has decent internet connection and not rely on my phone as modem.
  15. I saw this too. I was seriously considering getting it together with the wooden bathtub as I initially wanted a Zen style toilet.
  16. My ID agreed to rush my sis's room and common bathroom so that we have a 'semi-clean' place when my sis is discharged from hospital. So it is a shock to see only a few tiles are laid (without the mosaic tiles) after 2 days of tiling. I know that the tilers are not skivving because they are in the whole of 2 days. The ID told me becos I am particular about the alignment and grout line, the master tiler and him think the first attempt is not good enough and decided to re-do again. It is a very, very slow progress and you need to be good in maths as the tiles involve cutting to fit the size. I must say the tile alignment is really, really good. I do find that the 2 tone odd but my sis wants to be so. The shower area beige color with flower tiles and the rest in white tiles. I guess once they put in the the mosaic tiles, the screen door and 'dresseing up' the wall with picture and other ornaments and , it would look pretty decent. I MMS the progress to my sis at the hospital and she is pretty happy with it Common bathroom by PinkTissue, on Flickr On the down side, the reno budget is busted beyond repair I may have to postpone certain things until my wallet recover. But there are certain things that I cannot save - like polishing/repair of marble floor and parquet floor (1k) and I may have to overlay my sliding doors (already fabricated) to my walk in closet because of the change in design concept and change in bathroom tiles at master bedroom (ouch, expensive, new tiles are from Egypt. They are nice and both my ID has conveniently forget to check the price so we both got a shock at the final tile bill.)
  17. Looks good. Glad your reno is coming together after the earlier problems.
  18. Thanks to May. My remaining tiles & furniture arrived today!
  19. I admit I am "off" in choosing the tiles. I came to a compromise with my ID. It would be something black, purple & gold.
  20. Settled with my ID on master bedroom tiles. It would have a black, purple and gold theme.
  21. Cannot match meh? Antique vibe outside the shower area and ultra moden gold/black in shower area. Both my ID and friend they clashed horribly. Untitled by PinkTissue, on Flickr
  22. My first 'quarrel' with my ID over my color scheme. Not sure whether it is because I did not state clearly what I like or dislike or there is a miscommunication. Right in the beginning, I had chosen my wall tiles. I left it up to my ID to choose the shower area wall tiles as long as they match the tiles I have chosen. He had gotten back to me about choosing black tiles mixed with gold. It is a striking design and i agreed to it. But what I didn't know is that he wanted to turn the entire bathroom black including the area outside the shower area. Even the floor tiles are black. He even returned the tiles I have chosen to the tile company with the thinking he has my blessing to change the whole room black. I admit that it would look fantastic but I really do not think that I could live with an entirely black bathroom. And i thought i made it clear in the beginning that I do not like a dark bathroom. Yes, it can be dark in the shower area but not the ENTIRE bathroom. Thr only 'blessing' I could think out of this mess is that the tiles are not tiled yet so there is time to work out a design.
  23. Decided to change the bathroom shower enclosure from gold to black. It would make the 24k gold shower set to stand out more with a black background. Don't you think it would look KTV-ish? IMG_1224 by PinkTissue, on Flickr
  24. My sister has been hospitalised today for a week because her blood vessels flared up again. She is in a lot of pain and could hardly walk Upon learning that my sister has been hospitalised, my ID has agreed to concentrate on my sister's room and the common bathroom so that my sister could have a nice bedroom and bathroom when she is discharged.
  25. Hmmm. My friend gave me a strange look when I mentioned that I give ang bao to all the workers involved in renovation. I also provide free flow of mineral water. I thought that is the least I could do to hopefully make it a smooth renovation journey.
