Hi .. seldom use "image shack" and I've difficulty recalling the steps .. but there's something to do with "forum". At the Action column, try click on "Get Code For Forums" and use the URL given.

Here it is .. it doesn't look obvious in the photos .. but it is in real life. The 'green cloudy' patches are the mould. Just take tissue and wipe off for now .. but wondering how to clean thorougly .. don't know if can use water on such "wood" ( board to be precise? ) or not ..

Hi This is how the wall will look like if there are Subterranean Termites .. can see some soil on the wall. Unless remove the soil else may not get to see them. But pest control companies will tell you not to disturb them as they need to spray onto them so that they bring the poison back to others. If disturb them then they'll 'disappear'/'avoid this route' and eventually appear elsewhere.

Hi I do hear people say don't buy Ikea furniture as not good. I thought they meant not lasting. But I ever bought 2 before many years ago - so far so good .. so I went ahead to buy 3 items 2 months ago and now I know why. They turn mouldy at the bottom ! ( the top still 'swee swee' but bottom part turned mouldy & smelly .. yucks! ) I googled and it seems that - cleaning with bleach may help ? ( exclude Borax since cannot get in SG ) - but these are 'particle board' kind of furniture - can be in contact with water? I talk to someone in a shop and she say she won't recommend me to get anything (for cleaning). She say paint over it is the best as nowadays furniture quality not good - they will keep taking moisture from the air, so oil-based paint is the best. Anyone out there has done anything successful and share? Thanks !

( if u stay HDB )

1 hour to "mend cracks + paint lacquer for whole of door" for 3 doors ... good + efficient. This person say 'coz if door is "new wood" - then cracks will happen due to 'hot -> contract and cold -> expand" . ( he say wood and metal is opposite ) But he won't know how old the doors are / how long they have been kept in factories. The older the wood, unlikely for cracks to happen. First time hear things like that .. very new to me. Hope not being conned .. Well, kind of good la - now my doors look new & nice 'coz just painted

To Freyl80 ... I suppose yours is landed property since you mention 'injection ind ground'. So didn't do injection and so far so good? That's very nice. There are different kinds of termites ... http://www.pestworld.org/for-consumers/pest-guide/PestCategory/Termites And the type in my house is not the wood termites but Subterranean Termites. I wish my contractor had been as smart as yours .. he did not alert me at all !! I told him there's such a situation, please seal up any holes seen and looks like the message was passed down & nobody tell me this is something that cannot be ignored. I'm going to pay lots more 'coz mine is not just in the walls now, but also in trunkings. ( before reno, no trunkings, wires were exposed ). Who knows it has invaded the whole house via the trunking. ( Thank God I didn't do false ceiling ) Pest control company say no need do thermal imaging but I want to know how bad it is. ( 'coz honestly speaking, it started a few years ago and yes i am taking up a package too ). Termites - to me they are something that if you don't see it, you don't know it is there, until e.g. they make a mark on your wall. I searched a few entries and see usually not many replies when someone ask about termites .. so didn't try to post earlier, until things are more firm. The sad thing is - this is owner's responsibility even though HDB flat! But it is not from my furniture, it comes from the walls! If no soil treatment and after this payment - forever no more termites then that's good la. But what if they come back again? Plus I ground floor .. sian.

Yes I have. No choice. They coming on Fri. ~$$~ This site has some info on termites : http://www.spma.org.sg/faq.htm These companies all say the same thing to me : Your house is NOT landed property, can't put in preventive measures ( soil treatment ) .. Some willing to give a "1 year warranty", some not willing - if another colony is killed and another springs up .. it will be another payment !! So, "don't play play" if you see some soil on the wall. I was so naive to think that maybe nowadays weather one kind, so insects also one kind .. starts to stay in walls .. but BIG SIGH ...

Something to share ... So sad .. after reno then came to know those 'stuff' appearing the in the walls are mud trails of subterranean termites. 'Coz in the last few years I always just remove the mud and spray Baygon and 'case close'. I stay in HDB flat and after liase with Town Council + HDB ... Their stand which is pretty firm is 'appear inside the house' = 'owner's responsibility to take care'. They said your neighbours no such problem. But one of my neighbour is the 'staircase and lift landing' !!! And these termites never appear in my furniture before! And who would expect termites to live in walls ?! And I stay ground floor - which means can be very prone to subterranean termites !!! Big lesson for me .. sad.

Just an update ... shop was kind of nice .. they allow 1-1 exchange but must pay some $$ for delivery But when deliver in the morning, one is totally no 'little holes', one still has about 10-20 'little holes' ... In the late afternoon, they brought another one that has even more 'little holes' ... so I rejected this one and told the shop they didn't really offer a solution. Shop owner then offered to paint varnish as solution. In the end I declined, sprayed Baygon, stick some plastic over it ( meant for glass windows, not the whole board la, maybe 25% only ) ... I think so far ok. 'Coz need magnifying glass to check as the wood used for the cupboard back is darker and has more 'dots' (but they are not little holes) this round.

Hi Both Thanks for your replies .. troubled by other stuff This is after reno .. and contractor say just take what the 'door guy' said. it's like no point changing door ... as long as varnish may crack .. paint then won't crack ?!! [ as albertchng wrote ] So tmr they will come and put something, then smoothen, then varnish ( if they kept to the schedule ).

Anyone encounter before? After 6 months installation, I see my 2 Nyatoh bedroom doors - one has crackline 22cm long, other one 15cm long! ( both from the top ) The guy came and see and said ' it happens due to humidity, wood kind of things are very hard to say ' and what they can do is to apply something, smoothen, then paint varnish over whole door ' and then it will be ok. Won't crack anymore although line will be visible. Is this really a workable solution ? Thanks in advance for replying.

Thanks to all who responded. Here's the photo taken : http://imageshack.us...pboardback.jpg/ Uploaded with ImageShack.us I've bought 2 cupboards, and after a few months, condition worsened & I feedback to furniture shop. They allowed changing to new ones if I pay transport and manpower. But when deliver, one is ok and one is not that ok (maybe ard 20 little holes and I saw insect after wiping clean) ... ( Honestly the one that looks ok, I'm kind of worry if it will still be ok a few months down the road ) And the options they are giving me is 'paint lacquer' or 'glue a piece of wood over it' or if insist cash, get back only 25% of cupboard value. I've seen the tiny insect walking twice so far .. not too sure if they fly .. too small to take photo and say if I use masking tape and tap over it .. it just looks like a dust speck (grey colour). Then another 2 times is while looking at the cupboard with lights turned on, I see tiny insect landing onto cupboard. As didn't see where it comes from in the first place - can't conclude. Say, if 'paint lacquer' doesn't help, then 'glue another piece of wood' ? Better?

Hi Need advice. Back of cupboard seems to be infested by some very very tiny insects. Will painting lacquer over it solve the problem? ( how to insert image? click 'insert image' and it prompted for URL? ) Thanks.
