  1. Yep...i agree with both of u as well. My mum keep on wanting more cabinets for storing. But i realise the more cabinets u have, the more u will buy to put something inside and in the end, its all a waste of $$. So i told my mum that we should shift in first, pack things and when we realise that there is indeed not enough cabinets, then we buy. Also, i think the simpler the house is, the better. The more things we have, the more problems we have as well.
  2. For wardrobe Be doing the same where top part is the rod for hanging and bottom is the trousers hanger. Asked my contractor to do this type of drawer. Ikea wardrobe has basic dimension of 58cm for the depth. 3 kind of sizes for width of 50cm, 75cm and 100cm.
  3. Went to Ikea yesterday to sought inspiration for my wardrobe internal design. Decide to adopt Ikea measurement so that i can easily buy Ikea stuff for replacement. 1) For the kitchen soft closing device Will also be buying this for the pots and pans
  4. My area also dun have city gas... Tats the thing that upset my mum most. This is the 3rd time we are moving. The first two houses had city gas. So quite taken by surprise that actually there are some areas that do not have city gas. But wat to do...got to live on with it. THe fujioh hob cost around $400+. but becos' we buy it together with the hood, they gave me a special price. I also dun lik the idea of having a gas tank around. But sigh.....i guess its only a matter of habit bah. Anyway, the only comfort is they are cheaper than govt gas. N also they are providing good service these days. So need not worry too much of going gasless. I also understand that Ceramic vitro doesn't cost as much in electricity compared to Induction. But having ask around so many stores, most of the answer given to me is that it induction cost alot of electricity. And older generation may not like it as well. If you have a habit of cooking with wok, then induction will not work. My mum is a traditional chinese, so got to stick to traditional way of cooking...bt i'll still buy a portable one in case the gas runs out.
  5. Uncle never mentioned about T&C. He very confidently said "this is hardened glass". how to break? If it really breaks, its lifetime warranty. you can change another one for free.
  6. I Didn't...If you are looking for induction hob, why not go to Mayers? Aristol have those that had a mix of induction / ceramic vitro with gas hobs. i tried asking for induction, but Uncle said i must be willing to pay $400-500 for electricity bill which i was unwilling. He suggest for me to buy a portable induction instead of entire induction hob. Anyway, the one i saw in Mayer that had a mix also cost more than $700. $$ is tight for me. So decide to just get a simple one will do.
  7. Went to their main showroom @ Genting Lane. Also Johnny said only at Genting Lane one, they can give you additional discount.
  8. Went to Hoe Kee over the weekend. Was served by Johnny. We trust that people of he's age (70yrs) provide a more honest feedback which somehow i feel is indeed so. Bought Roz WC @ $198 (promo price) 2 Basins @ total $383 This is for MBR toilet. Purchased at $328. Since max length i could get is 600mm. This is the only choice left with a cabinet below one. Cabinet is PVC, so reckon its durable for wet area Kitchen sink Blanco brand @ $285. Uncle asked me to buy the Blanco stone SILGRANIT. But there is a problem. Even though that type of sink is durable, but uncle warned that its best not to undermount the sink. If crackline appears after a few years, the top would have to be removed in order to change the sink. So decided to buy stainless steel so that i can safely undermount my sink. Need not to worry about cracked line with stainless steel sink. Got the Blanco tap for $249. But since i'm getting the set, hence, $100 off. Though $149 for a tap, i find it ex. but since its made in Germany, i reckon it should be quite worth it. Got the Fujiroh hob. Was receptive abt glass type since our house one exploded twice. But uncle told me this is lifetime warranty and its hardened glass, not tempered glass. Was attracted to the word "lifetime warranty". So if it breaks, i could have it changed for free. Initally we do not want the hood, but uncle pester us to buy and told me its a good buy. Whole set with hood and hob cost $780. Hood is made in Japan and not that difficult to wash. I leave the decision to my mum cos' she's the one that is reluctant to have one for fear of the washing. Think i can sign up for their customer care program where they come and wash 4 times in a year. Sigh....its really true that when you have more things, you have more problems.
  9. Ur house look fantastic.
  10. I didn't ask him. But he only use it when he has guest. If its for your daily usage, then i would think that its maybe abit impractical.
  11. My frend had this hidden bed. Its quite heavy. DId u try lifting down and up the bed before?
  12. Went to Ocean granite at Balestier Plaza today. The lady boss is very experienced and very willing to share. She strongly recommended black galaxy for kitchen top. Told her my mum prefer white colour which she strongly advise against and manage to convince my mum to take black galaxy. Black galaxy is non-porous and will not have stain. She mentioned that light color granite is usually quite porous and unless one has 2 kitchens, she will not advise to use white. She shared many photos of finished granite installation in the kitchen. Price is at $90/ft (exclude GST) with backsplash. Dropdown of 40mm cost additional $20/ft. There will be GST charging on top of it. BMS Marble also charge $90/ft for black galaxy. However, BMS marbles do not have GST. BUt if you are undermounting the sink, BMS will charge additional $150 for the installation whereas Ocean granite has no other hidden cost. Hence, do some calculation and see which one is more worth it. For me, ocean granite is more worthy in this case since i'll be undermounting my sink.
  13. Thanks leh...now i'm more assured by your words.
  14. Went to inspect tiling works yesterday. Master bedroom toilet is ok, but common toilet is quite unsatisfactory with hollow tiles and ugly lines. Called my ID to check and retify yesterday. Today morning he's already then and asked them to remove some and redo. Not bad. Considered efficient bah. The cut of the tiles is uneven n ugly Tiles at common toilet. My ID said once gout is there, it will look better Master bedroom toilet...The pipes really make it so ugly Also took a look @ the lights yesterday. There are several lightshops opposite CHinese Garden. Dunno if its cheaper there or Balestier. But will drop by balestier on Sat to look, LED downlights at 16W, they are quoting at $98. Normal ones of 18W x2 at $43. Went to Save One at Lam Soon building. Their LED downlight is cheap @ $56 for 12W (square) and $68 for 15W (round). Not much choices in design though. But since its downlight, not necessary to hv too much choices bah.
  15. Its 22inch by 15 inch. Planning to sell at $68
  16. While packing, found the following treasures: Vintage luggage...can makedo as a bedside table...but i'll prefer to sell it away. Anybody interested???? Where PUB is yet to be called SP My dad's birth cert...Tat time Singapore is still called Colony of Singapore $1 note..i love the orchid print
  17. Today Wellux came to discuss on where to install the aircon. Hmm...seems like trunking hidden behind cabinet is not totally unavoidable already. But since they are Daikin's dealer, i presume good job should be done. Realised living room aircon will also be quite low as well due to false ceiling. There my Id is the malay guy with long hair discussing about where the aircon should be placed and how trunking should be done. Anyhow, tilers started with kitchen and master b/rm toilet wall tiles. Kitchen wall tiles Master bedroom toilet wall tiles
  18. Paiseh...type wrongly. Should be delta lane. paiseh paiseh..bt faster get. i feel its a good promo.
  19. then go wif solid top bah. but try to get light colour one to avoid scratches being obvious. Also as per my contractor, getting a mid range solid top is better than the cheapest n the most expensive one. I remember one is because of heat resistant. Another one i forgot liao.
  20. I got it from KHK Asia at Defu lane. I'll be using a central heater. So that should come with a storage water tank izzit?
  21. Quartz is much more expensive. If you get a dark colour granite like the black galaxy, then you don't have to worry about stains. Also, they will saying that china granite are more porous than India one, n hence more suceptible to stains. Hence, get Indian granite. But i think ultimately is really how the users take care of their stuff. For e.g. somebody was saying PD door is not good cos' get damaged easily. U have to push it in completing before turning the door, else the door will spoil easily. So if u dun follow instruction, things get damaged easily. But if you do, of cos' it will be very lasting. For me, i dare not take the risk since i always have alot of guests in my house. Blum system also same thing. u cannot force the door to close if u use the soft closing, else it will spoil easily as well... See...technology is very perfect. but if u follow the steps, it does help u alot.
  22. oh...thats very expensive. after conversion its only 12.1ft and already cost $8000. I guess nice things doesn't comes cheap.
  23. Yep...tats y i changed from a solid surface to granite. My office just had a renovation. The table which we barely used already has many scratches. So i really dun wanna take solid top. Luckily found direct granite top with comparable pricing to solid top.
