  1. Hi there, I noticed this fan has a long shaft and moreover, it is installed on the false ceiling. Wouldn't that make the fan too low?
  2. I don't think this is correct. In term of durability, laminate can take the torture much better than parquet. Try using a key and scratch a parquet flooring and you will know what I mean. Laminate is tough to scratch. One thing good about parquet is that, once scratched, you can still sand off the surface by the professionals but you can only do it a few times. Laminate, once it's damaged, it's damaged. To replace that damaged area, you must replace from area that is nearest to the wall to the actual damage area due to the interlocking design of each piece. All in all, biggest enemy of laminate should be water. Not sure if there are better or poorer water resisting compare to parquet. I believe, parquet should win in this area. I'm currently contemplating or laminating my whole house with the SC3 series Supreme laminate. Current flooring is marble and we don't really like the pattern. Also, we need to reposition some of the room's door which will damage the marble flooring when we do. Don't like homogenous tiling too as we don't like grouts. So, seems laminating is the best option.
  3. Err, I sponsor 1 day of labour supply as remote controller, can? Hehe, you can see that I like sipeh eng hor? Year end, pha bang in office.... Hehe. Oso holiday mood liao, no mood to work....
  4. Which reminds me.... Kinda in a fix now whether to buy a fabric or leather sofa. Currently using fabric sofa but now out of shape liao and kinda tired of using fabric and thinking of getting leather. But on the other hand, leather is hard to maintain and it's difficult to know for sure the leather material is good or not on this we would want.
  5. Got remote control to control those panels or not aa?
  6. Oh yeah! I saw that shop! It was close when I was there on sunday night.... Was wondering if it was an extension of DTrenzo but then again likely not as we did not tour that area.... Oh man, upper thomson is so so foreign to me.... Never set foot on that place before. Feels macam like I'm in PJ.
  7. Thanks for the feedback! Yea, it seems Upper Thomson branch open just in October. Also, it seems, a 3rd branch is coming out with large showroom will be out soon in Woodlands.
  8. Did some shopping on ceiling fans in Malaysia. Panasonic Fan (F-M14E8) - RM 393 (At my hometown, Kluang) KDK Sensa 4 - RM 520 - Electronik Kek Seng (Taman Perling, JB) KDK Sensa 5 - RM 630 - Electronik Kek Seng (Taman Perling, JB) OK, called up YES Electrical as recommended by many bloggers here.... Indeed much cheaper! KDK Sensa 4 - RM470 KDK Sensa 5 - RM555 Looks like I'm set to hoot these fans!
  9. Been busy looking for IDs. Here are the ones I've contacted Darwin (Edwin Neo) - Highly recommended by our new neighbour who happen to know my mum. Visited their showroom at Bendemeer. Impressive showroom. Was able to quote on the spot. Looks very experience guy but don't like their pricing structure. They have a basic 5 room package of 20,488 and add on any extra stuff that I need. Most important point is, there is GST which they could not absorb. Renozone (Colin) - Recommended by my colleague who engaged them to do their new BTO unit. Went to see their workmanship and find it to be good enough. Sat down and talked to him in detail what we wanted and came back with the quotation. Indeed, the pricing is attractive. We then added some additional item and asked him to modify the quotation. Over 2 weeks now, never got back to us. Called him to ask, he just apologize and say will do but till now no reply. Haiz... Disappointed. Some updates. After calling him again, he said that he did send. I guess it must be some admin error. Anyway, I received the latest quotation update. Emailed to 4 other IDs, ID Note, Inside Living, D'trenzo, Wawe, Ideal House ID Note - No reply Inside Living - Super star Jessie was too busy, handed over to a lady call June. Schedule to meet up this thursday. Read from a blog here, she is still inexperience. We shall see. D'trenzo - Russell Chen (aka Cyrus?) took up our enquiry. Came back with a quotation a week later. Couldn't find any of his credential here, so no idea. However, we went down to their shop at Upper Thomson. Gave a good quotation, overall quite impressed except, a little uneasy as to why he has multiple names. Anyone any experience with this ID? Wawe - Wee Kuang replied. Received quotation but have yet to meet up. Price looks OK too. Ideal House - Sean replied. Received quotation and looks to be the cheapest of them all. Have yet to meet up. At this point of time, we are kinda leaning towards D'trenzo. Their quotation is so far the most complete and within our budget. Anyone with feedback on this ID please tell me. Kam siah!
  10. Nice 3D design! Wish I can own an EM someday too. Gave up the idea as I have my parents staying with us and my mum has weak knees. Can't let her climb up the stairs all the time. I'll be getting my new apartment this end of feb too. Currently sourcing for IDs. Will continue with my blog when we are about to finalize the ID.
  11. Thanks for the pm..... Good luck in moving n tmr! HUAT AH!
  12. Thanks sis.... For the marble issue, so far still too early to tell as they have not gone to the place to survey the site. I guess it will never be until I have signed up with one of them. Do PM me the prices.... Will definitely check out with Everjoint if the price is close. SGD100 is just an indicative price from my colleague when he renovated his home recently.
  13. I guess the vibrancy of this place is seasonal as most ppl will be most active when it's preparing and throughout the renovation period. Once it's done up, the frequency of visiting this place will drop. Though this will be our 3rd home, it will be one which I will spend most time and effort working on it as except for the marble flooring, everything has to redo.
  14. Hi sis sleek! Read through almost the whole thread here. Interesting to know that you found some friends here. I would certainly hope to find some here too. Sigh.... Can't tahan the whole process is sooooo slow....... If the purchase process goes smoothly, I will only get the key by mid to end feb. Need to move out by mid april. Seeing so many here takes months to complete the renovation really makes me worried as we only have about 6 to 8 weeks to renovate.
  15. It should be a modern 110sqm 5-room but I'm surprise that there is no bomb shelter. I thought ALL BTO unit nowaday comes with it?
  16. Thanks for the indication.... $100 was a quote given by my colleague, not the renovator...
  17. Thanks for the comment on Point 2. Yea, I'm leaning towards that idea, now that I know what I can get cheaper fans from MY. Still, I was told that each fan point will cost 100 for installation is a turn off. As for point 3, it's not really a need but I just thought it would be nice to do so. At least no more slippers outside the house. So far, I've not seen anyone doing it, so I guess it's most likely not allowed.
  18. I guess it's because corridor outside the room is still the existing block marble, they want to play safe by telling me beforehand first. Still I don't really understand, like what you said, since they broken marbles in the room will be hacked anyway, they will still have to cut it nicely. Will have to check out with them again.
  19. So far, talked to a few IDs. A few commented that 1) If I want to create a door on the study room and move to right a little more will destroy the marble flooring as they cannot hack the marble neatly. 2) If I want to add nyatoh door frame, it will also affect the marble flooring as they cannot hack the marble neatly.
  20. WTH is that thing on the bottom right? Looks like a giant WC....
  21. Has anyone seen the floor plan the design and build 4A units opposite Yew Tee MRT? I remember visiting one of the unit during house hunting. From the entrance, you will first see the kitchen, followed by a long corridor with rooms at the side and finally the living room.
  22. Thanks Sleek.... Yea, after digging further, I found Lubber_Duckie's post.... Will certainly post more when there is progress....
  23. Does anyone know if ceiling fans bought from Malaysia is allowed in Singapore? Thinking of getting a couple of KDK or Panasonic fans. So far aiming at 1) Panasonic F-M14E8 (should be around 400 RM) 2) KDK Sensa 4 (should be 500 RM)
