Wow... antique switches. Looks like the electrical wires are over 20yrs? It's time to do electrical rewiring for whole house. When you do rewiring for the house, they will change a new DB box for you. Don't need to repaint the DB box. New DB box is about $80-120.

There you go, the round basin This is the square basin. The bsin cannot full flush to the wall, therefore left an ugly gap on the right corner. It should be a manufacture defect, because Hubby checked under the basin, the wall bracket support for the basin was installed correctly, but the basin cannot full flush to the wall, so we assume this may be the issue of moulding process. Maybe we are unlucky to get the ONLY ONE defected basin, maybe the other square basins are okay. Depends on luck, so don't worry too much. Too bad the basin is already installed, otherwise we can take back and exchange.

Hubby still say nono. We lack of one shower for the common toilet, and he feels that no point getting a good shower for common toilet since we won't be using it and leaving it in common toilet becomes white elephant.

Do you mean you want to make the main door to a smooth door, instead of having the square patterns on the door? I think it is possible to do it, but your door may get some damages. Even if paint over, you might still see the hole. I would rather leave the door as it is, since your main gate block the main door, outside people also can't notice the difference. The main gate that HDB provided is definitely more solid than the trendy wrought iron gates. It doesn't look as bad as the old HDB gate.

If I don't remember wrongly, there is only one 16" depth square basin selling in Hoe Kee, and cost $80. Avoid at all costs. We didn't do much research on bathroom accessories, but saw good feedbacks on Hoe Kee, so we bought all our things from Hoe Kee. More convenient for us and they give additional discount for total purchase.

Hi there. Congrats getting your own home. Regarding about renovation loan from banks, the cheque will be issued under the renovation firm. I'm not sure if you can apply renovation loan for carpentry, if can, you can apply another loan from different bank. Why don't you let your contractor or ID to package carpentry work for you? Unless you have contact for carpenter and offer cheaper quotation for you. I would not suggest to get so many loans for home renovation because you have a budget in mind to spend, and over budget may not do any good to you. Do take note that if you are not loaning 100% from the bank, the bank may not issue different cheque payment to you. All renovation contracts have progressive payment, and this becomes a big issue if let say your renovation is $40k, the progressive payment is 15%, 80%, 5%. You loan only $20k from the bank, the bank issues you a $20k cheque only. Naturally you will give the contractor or ID the cheque on 2nd progressive payment. If the progressive payment is 5%, 45%, 20%, 30%, you will not know which progressive payment to give first as 45% is only $18k, but your cheque is $20k cheque. It is best that when you are firm you want to sign contract with the ID or contractor that time, look at the progressive payment first. Then you decide how much you want to loan from bank, and which payment you want to pay your contractor or ID. Normally it takes 1 week for the bank to give you a cheque. So don't worry about it. I suggest to change the aircon since already used 8yrs. It can be quite troublesome to do aircon after renovation. If budget is a concern, opt for non inverter aircon since you are using it yourself. You can start sourcing contractor or ID now. It is better to plan ahead than to panic later.

AMK is a good location. Considering got MRT, AMK Hub, near Bishan, got AMK park, near expressway. Your floor plan layout is similiar as me, just that my bedrooms are on the right, yours are on the left. So are the kitchen, storeroom and living room.

New flats' kitchen layout tend to be smaller than old houses. It is not easy to achieve a perfect triangle kitchen. Just do what is best for you to maximize your kitchen workspace as long no obstruction or hazard in kitchen

This is really a nice and unique dining table. I like the shape of the table leg. Is the glass stick on the wooden leg or sitting on the wooden leg?

We don't have fancy 3D designs to show what we really want to achieve for our home, but we found some good pictures that we would like to hope to achieve for the overall look for our house. Along the short corridor, we opt to paint brown color for the wall, and white color for the doors and door frames It will not just be a study room. It is a study cum reading room. We intend to hang the bird cage pendant light at the corner of the reading area, so this will make the room a little cosier, rather than just a normal study room.

The depth of the sink is 16". So it should be 16 x 16". Not sure if this can fit in your toilet

DAY TWENTY-FOUR We waited for almost an hour for our electrician's arrival. He told us he went to Choo Chiang to buy electrical wires and parts, so he was late. He told us he will start work tomorrow, not today. This bangalah.... very smart huh. Instead of starting work today, tomorrow off, he chose to off today, start work tomorrow, so he can receive double pay for Sunday. I have already pre-warned him to complete the work by next Tuesday. He said no problem. If got problem, I will roti prata him. By the way, in case you guys don't know, our electrician is a bangalah; my father's worker. Meanwhile, we didn't waste our time too. We shifted all the barang barang from Arts room to Study room, and proceed to check the floor tiles in Arts room and MBR. I can't remember how many hollow tiles we found, so far more than 5 tiles, but less than 10 hollow tiles found in both room. Our electrician's excuse for being late: So little cables, enough to lay so many points? Hmmmm...

Found defect product bought from Hoe Kee. Luckily our plumber saw the rusty stain, so he didn't install in the toilet. He asked us to go Hoe Kee to do an exchange. One of the hand spray we bought from Hoe Kee is leaking water. So many defect items bought from them. Haiz... First is the sink, we wonder what's next?

6kg is too small, plus you have got a kid at home. 8kg is comfortable size.

If you don't like the sink position, ask him to change. I don't think it's nice to put the sink so far end.
