Thanks NeoBY. We tried carrying the TV console, I gave up immediately, I couldn't even lift an inch. The console is too heavy. -
Your kitchen reminds me of my ah ma's old house kitchen. Last time these kitchens were popular in Old Airport Road, until government decides to en-bloc the old buildings, I don't see these kind of kitchens anymore

Another problem I foresee is, if the mirror flush down and cover the skirting, the mirror bottom side may have 1-2 inch gap, cannot full flush to the wall or door frames. Mirror image may be distorted if bend to flush to cover the skirting. If purposely do the bottom frame in thicker and longer width, the mirror frame may not match well with the door frames too. -

BTW, this afternoon, both me and Hubby rushed home to receive the "surprise" I mentioned yesterday. Our custom-made TV console! We searched high and low for TV console, but none of the TV console suits our home theme. Either the wood is too dark color, or the wood color is too yellowish (e.g. teak wood). We end up outsource the carpentry work to outside, that is my father's sub-con carpenter. You may find our TV console very familiar, may have seen it somewhere, some place, somehow, and this is the answer.... We copy the design from Harvey Norman "Lowe" TV cabinet design, and get someone to fabricate almost similar design as Harvey Norman's. Lowe dimension is 165 Product Depth (cm): 45 Product Height (cm): 45; Ours is (L)220cm x (D)50cm x (H)60cm. If Lowe length is longer (we prefer 2.2mtr), we would have buy from Harvey Norman and avoid the hassle to engage carpenter to fabricate the TV console. But, the price we got is cheaper than buying from Harvey Norman. We purposely gave our preferred laminate sample to the carpenter. The wood laminate we chose is brazilian walnut; same laminate as our MBR wardrobe. White and brazilian walnut combi is perfect! Isn't that cool? That's why initially I wanted our uncle to help us redo the laminate to white + brazilian laminates for the MBR wardrobe doors, but now we think it's okay after the bed sits in the MBR, don't trouble uncle to bring back the sliding doors and redo the laminate. Now our house is 90% ready. Shall prepare to clean up the house and take an overview of our house. Stay tune! -

I asked the same question - why don't cover the skirting - but FREE one leh....I also don't dare to make too much noise. Uncle fabricates the mirror and frame for us for free, we should show polite manners by accepting it wholeheartedly, right? It is also good that the mirror does not touch the ground. I mop quite hard, many times the mop will hit the skirting. If the mirror covers the skirting, I may accidentally smash the mirror with my mop. -
Your kitchen got wall tiles, don't need waste money to do back splash lah
-
Oh I see. Dangerous to install compressor during raining days.

Hoo: Everyone will still visit your blog, especially the Taobao fans. Feel free to take the ideas, we also take the ideas from Internet or other people's. T-blog is about sharing and exchanging T-blog. Nimzo: We don't have so many lobangs lah. Why the back splash you don't ask your contractor to do? For gates, you should check on newspapers or regular leaflets on door step. I saw one gate seller at AMK pasar malam. The pasar malam should be here until end of this week. If you got time, visit AMK. Possibility of having kids running around the house is low, unless our future kid. But he/she will get used to the mirror, won't bang onto it. Maybe by the time our kid can run around, we might have move to another new place. NeoBY: Why don't buy mirror from ikea? If you don't like the frame, you can pain other colors. Custom-made small mirror is expensive. -
The "peaches" is too chim. I don't understand too

Hahahaha... but May, there is a man who understands what is lemon.

Thanks May. Yes I agree with you, the mirror "extends" the corridor length and width. If we have a WIW, this mirror size serves a good purpose - makes us feel more confident of ourselves standing in front of the mirror. -
Huh....? I thought the aircon installation is completed? Then what is that box for the wall for?
-
How come need to charge money? Just need two piece of aircon trunking, pin on top and bottom, then ask aircon installer to get a bigger piece of board, pin to the top and bottom aircon trunking. And there you go...

I have similar mentality as fishponder. I also prefer practical than aesthetics look. If really want wood flooring, the most important thing to think of is "How to maintain the wood flooring?" I do agree with taichipanda regarding the age of the teak, and I add my own thought - The beauty of wood flooring is that it should age gracefully over the time, to let people know that there is a "history" or "story" behind the wood flooring. Wood flooring should not LOOK AGED over time due to low maintenance, dirty, etc.

Maybe the HDB officer is a gay, prefer man than woman. I hope this time round he will approve the hacking.

Oooohhhh... the toilet looks so bright and clean; makes the small toilet looks so much spacious than before. So lucky there is natural light from the window and reflect on the white tiles. -

Thanks Valerie. It will be expensive if we ask our contractor to do, or walk-in to the supplier to fabricate a mirror, but if you know the "original" price that they can get from the supplier, you will be shocked. -
You bought a lemon (sounds familiar? LOL)

If I would to choose, I prefer Burmese teak. White oak without lacquer is nice, after lacquer, it looks yellowish. Easily to get dirty. You should have seen plenty of white oak in showrooms, their floors look very dirty. Will you consider swopping the floor tiles between the kitchen and the toilets? The toilets' floor tiles color tone are too light, will get dirty very easily, whereas the kitchen flooring is too dark. If you choose White oak, the color don't match with your kitchen floor, but if you choose Burmese teak, the dark tone color matches the kitchen floor with the dark color floor tiles you choose.

Are you going to paint over the compressor box? I don't like the box, so I get the aircon guy to extend out as a window ledge. At least it doesn't look like a compressor box

Haha... That applies to clear glass, and I saw one of my friend actually walked "into" the glass and bang his head real hard. Hahaha... The one place in our house is not so bad, don't think will knock into it.
