The housing for track light is not very expensive, but it is the bulb (depends what bulbs you are using) and the bulb holder that is expensive. We didn't research where to buy track lights will be cheaper, because we have already bought our lights from that particular shop, so no choice, got to exchange the lights in that shop, and we got the track lights from that shop. There are cheaper track lights, but you have to look at the overall. We saw one track light, cheap cheap! BUT when the bulb blows, you need to change the whole bulb holder. The bulb is fixed to the holder, so you can't change the bulb only, you need to change the whole thing - bulb holder. The bulb holder itself costs $78 per piece, which is so expensive! One light bulb costs only $15-$2x. If you buy that type of cheap track light, the initial purchase is cheap, but on long-term, the track lights become very expensive. So be careful when you choose track lights. We have also saw one track light that can only use halogen lights, you cannot use other light bulbs. Halogen bulbs are very warm, the heat come out from the bulb which feels like spot lights, which is only suitable for decorative purposes (shining on pictures), not for lighting the room. Though the track light looks modern, but we cannot stand the heat, and the lights hurt our eyes too. -
Shouldn't they lay cardboard or I don't know what is that called, on the laminate? Looks like you may need constant maintenance for this laminate. If you don't clean the laminate floor, the laminate will form white haze cause by dust, sweaty feet, etc.

Thanks Valerie and May. The workers are working pretty fast, we would say. If they continue to maintain their momentum, they may complete all tiling work by this week. So excited Valerie: You have the same symptoms as me - Fickle-minded and indecisiveness. Hope this will not affect your renovation progress. Most importantly, don't let this symptom cause you to pay more money for changes -
Hi NeoBY. Congrats moving in! It feels so good to have a home of your own. Enjoy!

Wow... your renovation starts to progress fast now. Initially still worry that they are working slow, now they are picking up the speed.

They have also covered the old MBR doorway well. The MBR toilet wall tiles are 95% completed, except the upper part of the wall! These guys are really fast and competent! They have laid the first layer of water proofing on the MBR toilet floor. Looks wet, guess will need to wait at least 1-2 days to dry. We have this good feeling that the tiling work for the bedrooms or living room will be completed by this week or earlier next week. -

DAY TWELVE We didn't go back home during lunch time today because my boss is back in town, cannot find excuses to "take" time-off to see the house, while hubby is busy month end closing. Don't think we can go back home in the afternoon for the next 1-2 weeks Today, hubby returned home earlier than me, so he went to see the house alone. We have three tilers working in our house after 6:30PM. So hardworking When hubby entered into the house, he saw that the kitchen floor was covered up. Not knowing why, he walked to the common toilet and saw that they have applied second layer of water proofing. We can't wait to see the end product after the water proofing is dried! They have also built the cabinet and fridge bases! Seeing the three workers staying back to work OT make us feel very bad, so Hubby quickly went downstairs to buy dinner for them. When hubby went back to the house, he saw one of the worker revealed SURPRISE! And guess what?! They have completed laying the kitchen floor tiles! Our kitchen looks very bright after laying the light color floor tiles. Simply love! -

I just googled and found a home remedy to make your black granite sink looks brand new again. It is natural that black granite sink forms white haze unless it is wet all the time. The Solution: Wipe the sink all over using baby oil on a soft cloth and it comes up like new. You will need to do this once a week. If you do not have baby oil, you can also use mineral oil. You can also spray the oil on the sink and wipe off with paper towel. The sink will look brand new again. -

If there is no overflow pipe, then the water will flow out the sink and drip in the cabinet, isn't it? You sure that is Flanco or Blanco? It looks exactly like Blanco! I see that logo = overflow hole?! I don't know if the sink will come together with the overflow pipe or not. Thanks for the information. I will double check with Hoe Kee. Your sink very swee, but, how come you never maintain the sink huh? It looks so dirty now. -

I knew it!!!! getzski We didn't see any new sink model in the showroom that has overflow outlet, except the old HDB basins in our house before renovation & my parents' house. It can be quite troublesome when you wash the basin and there is no overflow pipe, where does the overflow water flows to? -
Hi heim. I have received your PM. Thanks!

Did you ask them for the spare parts? I don't think they will give these for FOC, but I thought the basic accessories that the seller will ask us to buy are the sink stopper and bottle trapper? I didn't know we need to buy overflow pipe. Or is it supposed to be given by the contractor? I didn't realise Blanco sink got a hole at the side of the sink Or did you buy fake Blanco, just like the fake Happycall?! -

Just for reference only. My sink color will look like this on white solid surface (don't mind the design of the sink, and if it is undermount): -

Hi Pirvan. The sinks we are using in our parents' house are undermount. So far no problem, just that as years go by, the side of the sink get very dirty and turn black due to no maintenance. The problem with undermount sink is that if the sink spoils, there is no way to change the sink unless we remove the solid surface, which can be quite expensive. We bought the alu-metallic color as we plan to do white solid surface, but I was thinking if to change to white to match the white solid surface. -

Hi dotty and getzski. I shall answer the pricing first. Hoe Kee's standard discount for the Blanco + mixer combo is $555. They can deduct $99 if you do not want the mixer. Maybe we look hesitant to buy, so the sales lady wanted to throw in "discount" to convince us to buy. Dotty: We have not decided whether to undermount or top mount the sink yet, but looking at the pretty Blanco sink, it will look nicer if we top mount the Blanco sink, right? -

How about one hanging light inbetween the TV and sofa, a hanging light for the dining, then track light at the back of the sofa? -
Hahahaha... that will be after when NeoBY moves in, then we will say "Hey! Isn't that the same sponge we saw before you move in?"

Hi Valerie. We have not decided yet, but we prefer something lighter. We also like the 2nd laminate (left) from the 2nd row too. -

If you place dining table before the room corridor, will the living room be too squeezy? If you place a 2.6mtr sofa in the living room, there will not be enough space for dining table in the living room, unless you get less than 2.4mtr sofa, there might be some space left for walking -

Hi getzski and NeoBY. I think potatoes face the same scenario as you. The backsplash area was tiled (the centre part-inbetween top/bottom cabinet), but not at the area where top/bottom cabinet was. We have not decide whether to top mount or undermount the sink yet. Both have their advantage and disadvantage. We were just curious, so we asked the sales lady if we can undermount the sink, and if there will be any problem during/after the undermount process. We like the mixer too, so we just decided to install a pipe for hot water to sink -
Hahahaha... Are you guys playing "spot the difference" game.

Ready to move in, NeoBY!

We understand your feelin, bro. To juggle work and home is definitely not easy. Though it is only the first week for us, both me and my hubby are feeling tired too. Plus we have to juggle school work too. Our energy is draining out very soon. Hopefully there is no hiccups in our renovation process, just like yours. Ganbatte!
