  1. At one point, I thought you guys were referring to Ms. Fatimah, the summon auntie.
  2. Old houses' toilet ceiling paint normally peels off a bit, but it is quite common. So far we did not see water droplets on the ceiling, but when people from upstairs flush toilet, we saw tiny tiny tiny bit of water drip out. We will call the HDB tomorrow and see how it goes. We hope the problem is not serious, and if HDB can ask their own contractor to come to our house to jab some sealant on the ceiling around the pipe, that will be a cheaper method than to pay 50-50 for upstairs new toilet. We didn't pay much attention until last weekend, we saw the cloth missing from the pipe, then we suspect there might be leakage somewhere (maybe the pipe, maybe the ceiling). That's why we asked our contractor to help us check, but now the floor water proofing is still wet, we cannot justify the real cause. We will call HDB tomorrow and see how it goes. I am anxious to try this method, but at the same time I hope no hollow sound heard while testing. (sweat)
  3. How come the aircon hole look so big? I thought it is a small square? Is this a unit aircon? You did plastering right? Can just use a board to cover, normally the aircon installer will provide a thick board to patch the existing aircon hole. This tile not very big issue, because we found 1 piece of tile in the kitchen like that, and 1 piece in common toilet. My father helped me to touch the tiles if the tiles are protruding out, but it's not, and he said it's normal. After they apply grout, the tile gaps will not be so obvious anymore.
  4. Muska! You made me laugh out so loud until my hubby turned to look at me, looking shocked. I saw your house condition, was about to reply your blog.
  5. Hi paladin. I think your agent refers to the HDB officer doing valuation report. We don't remember we see HDB officer going to the house to check before the ex-owner hands us the flat.
  6. Hi May. Go to the top right hand corner, click your Profile (the scroll down bottom beside your ign). Select "Manage Ignore Users". Key in somebody's name, tick the boxes - ignore personal conversation + posts, then you won't see somebody's posts anymore.
  7. Anyways, we both have decided to ignore the past comments made by somebody, as we both are very harmonious couple, we don't like to argue with people too. We have added somebody in the ignore list, so that we don't need to strain our eyes to read somebody's comments. And our lives continue....
  8. Hi Albert, I think you are not reading our posts properly, or your eyes got problem need to do checkup? Has Karma fallen on you? Good luck! Refer to highlight in red: Obviously you are doing personal attacks, that's why you posted so many rude comments not only to me, but to many people. What are you trying to show? Imbecile acts?
  9. END OF THIRTEEN DAY We cannot go to see the house as mentioned earlier the reason why, so we can only view from outside Looking from outside, it looks like they have completed 90% of the tiling work in living room. Kudos! Can't wait for the day we can wear socks and high heels techniques learnt from May.
  10. Yes, we plan to visit neighbour this weekend. I don't really like to do house visiting. If I see my upstairs neighbour is old granny, I will pity them, and forget about it, and even help them que for number to see MP.
  11. Even if the cost is $150, I still feel heart pain! The feeling is like I pay for a service, but I will not get anything in return. Sounds like donation to charity
  12. BAD NEWS We suspect the common toilet pipe is leaking as previously the pipe was tied with a piece of cloth. We are not sure where the leakage is, so we asked our contractor to check. As the toilet water proofing is still wet, he cannot enter into the common toilet to take a look, but looking at the water mark, he suspects the leakage comes from upstairs! Still not 100% until we can take a better look at the pipe when the water proofing is dry. OH MY GOODNESS! We heard that if there is leakage from above neighbour, the cost is split 50-50 between upstairs and downstairs home owners. That means additional costs to us?! It is really very unfair loh! Upstairs neighbour get new water proofing, new toilet floor tiles, new toilet bowl, but paying 50% cost, and for us? We get nothing but to pay 50% to HDB?! Tomorrow hubby is going to call the HDB, see what they say.
  13. DAY THIRTEEN It has nothing to do about Friday the 13. It is just another renovation day - lucky 13. Both of us were playing guessing game since yesterday night: "Which room will the tiler start to lay the tiles today?" 吃饱没事情做 And the answer is... the tiler starts to lay the living room tiles first (Hubby wins the guessing game) We were told not to go into the house tonight, or for at least this week because the floor tiles may take some time to dry, and if we step on the tiles, we may cause hollowness of the tiles. To avoid hollowness, we cannot go into the house for at least one week. As we have earlier mentioned, we have good feelings that the tiling work may complete by this week, and today our contractor informed us the same thing too. Things are really progressing very fast. Unfortunately, we may not have much things to update this week. Hopefully our contractor will update us on the daily progress and send us pictures, so we can keep everyone here updated too. We were informed that the carpenter was here today to take the measurement of the carpentry works. The storeroom door frame has also installed Tonight no updates for everyone as we cannot step into the house. Stay tune!
  14. May: Now I know why you want to keep your distance away. I saw the link Albert has given, the Switzerland sinks look so atas, I don't have money to buy too. Need to keep my distance away too.
  15. Looks like magic sponge can only work on smooth surfaces, not on leather surface. I know a better way to clean the stain on her bag! Buy Pilot Frixion pen! Use the friction eraser to clean the stain.
  16. $1-1.5k for lightings is okay, but if never use downlights, can save $400-500. So $1k is sufficient. Remember to bargain for lights to come with FOC bulbs, or else the shop will try to sell you their bulbs. This will add on your cost - exceed more than $1k budget.
  17. First, sink not clean. Second, ants found crawling on solid surface. Third, never clean spot (at where??). Please hire a cleaner auntie, please
  18. Ahhh.... that's what I suggested to Albert too. Buy a Suter stainless steel sink for his auntie. Auntie will be very happy that she got a new sink and a fillal nephew.
  19. Got! The ants came back again. Maybe got another queen hiding somewhere.
  20. I was quoted L-box + cove light + passage way false ceilings about $1k++; only one side of the living L-box comes with cove light. After consideration, we decided to take out the L-box and do ceiling lights. No $ to do fancy fancy
  21. Good enough. If you don't do false ceiling/L-box, $1k is enough. You need to factor another $200-300 if you intend to buy track lights.
  22. You sure they die inside? Maybe they dig another tunnel out from the other grout line. I sprayed at them couple of times, and there was once a queen ant came out from the grout hole. I flushed them all into the drain. After awhile, they are back again.... They multiply so fast.
  23. Ants seldom crawl from there, normally cockroaches will come from rubbish chute! I prefer rubbish chute to be outside the house, so no cockroach in the house. I hate cockroaches!
