My hubby is a handyman, he may understand this concept better. I ask him to read your message. Hehe.... I am more of a planner only. I think I get what you mean. To cover the light casing hole. In the end we didn't change the light position, not allowed to change because of fengshui Luckily we decide to change the sink, now it matches well with the dish rack width. If sink too big/small, it might not look nice with the open concept dish rack. Our kitchen design was proposed by my contractor. Initially we wanted top white, bottom wood laminate, but he proposes the current design and told us it will turn out nicer. I have no objection because I later saw a design from someone's blog, so I didn't against the design when he proposed that (I am a copycat ) So I think the side with white laminate looks nice and easy to maintain since it is glossy white, but I would love the side white laminate more if it is fully flush with the solid top. -

In Common toilet The metal basket for shampoos will install here Transparent silicon will be replaced with white silicon. Transparent silicon is nice, but when contact with water or dirt, it becomes very obvious. So we want white silicon for this basin. As mentioned in earlier post, this basin has manufacturing/moulding defect, so the plumber applied more silicon for this basin. Towel rack above the wc (Ideal position) The after result: -

DAY FORTY-ONE We thought writing Chinese characters on the bathroom accessories is sufficient for the plumbers to understand, but still, we cannot assume they really know where we want our accessories to install. True, if install incorrectly, can reinstall again, but will you want to have many holes on your toilet wall tiles? In order to make sure the plumbers know where we want to install our accessories, our contractor Kevin makes his trip to our house and helps us to do the marking in the toilets This is Kevin, helping us to do the marking for hook: In MBR toilet Problem resolved, shall hang the towel rack above the MBR wc but at higher height. I hope I can reach for the towel The after result: Look at the half Chinese half English characters. Hahahaha.... Same as me. Words too difficult or don't know how to write in Chinese shall write in English. Kevin will get the plumber to help me replace the missing cap. Smelly air pipe! -

Hi Terrain, the stove color that we got is silver. Thank you for the compliment. Hi Hoo, I agree, we spent most of our money in the kitchen. Hi Valerie, luckily Hubby insisted to have white solid top. Initially I wanted cream or beige worktop, but after comparing with the brown back splash tiles, we find that white worktop suits better, but surprisingly the back splash turns out a darker brown/black color which is a much better effect than the sample tile we got. We bought 1mtr LED light strip, will install under the top cabinet when we clean up the kitchen. Today the workers are doing tiling work, so I didn't clean the kitchen cabinet yesterday, therefore never install the LED strip. Haha... the thing beside toilet bowl is the towel rack. We made a mistake by buying a longer towel rack, end up cannot install above MBR toilet wc as the air pipe is blocking. No choice got to install the towel rack beside the wc. The common toilet is okay, we got the shorter width towel rack, can fit nicely above the wc. (PS: Latest update! Photos uploading soon) -

JUST FOR LAUGH II I wanted to stick a note on the floor to remind the workers to remove their shoes before they step in the house. We have already started to clean the house. Each time someone comes up to do something, end of the day we will sweep and dust the house. I would say our floor is 70% dust-free and object-free. Just when I wanted to stick masking tape on the floor, Hubby passed me a cardboard to write the message. So coincidence, I saw this logo at the other side of the cardboard: Hahahahahaa.... "No SHOES" logo was printed on the cardboard. -

JUST FOR LAUGH! Look at my crappy Chinese writing Pardon me if I wrote the wrong chinese character. Been years since I write Chinese words. O M 天! I wrote Chinese because we afraid the plumbers don't know where to fix the bathroom accessories. In the end, our contractor said he needs one of us to be at home and meet him. He will help us to do the marking in the toilets. So funny, I was struggling to write the Chinese characters, yet I told Hubby my Chinese is very good. -

DAY FORTY 24 April - the kitchen cabinet solid worktop is up! This photo is taken by our contractor; this is how the kitchen cabinet looks like during day time: The tile back splash looks like black glass. The tiles is brown, but I like the effect that the tiles look like black glass. This is how the kitchen cabinet looks like during night time. Isn't the kitchen cabinet look prettier now? Waiting for the plumbers to come this Thursday (tomorrow) to fix the sink tap and the bathroom accessories. Today the tilers will be coming to rectify the remaining hollow tiles and skirting under the gypsum board. -

Sure, will review the quality of the chairs when arrive. I think it's quite easy to fix the chair if they provide picture manual like IKEA does, then I think it's pretty easy to do. -

We will check with IKEA guys when they come to our house to fix the furnitures. If the surface is not very rough, we may just paint over it. It should be easy to sand. Yes, we bought the chairs from Gmarket. -

EVERYDAY IS SUNDAY SHOPPING We have not share the items that we bought in IKEA last Sunday. Spent many hours looking around, and deciding which items to buy. There are a lot of other things we would like to purchase, but due to tight budget, we shall put on hold the items. We buy things that we require first, the rest shall be in our wishlist cart. We bought a dining table from IKEA. The table looks a bit raw - Hubby is going to DIY paint this table with this white bench to match the dining table and lastly, after some thoughts, we bought these two white chairs.... -

For example, using wifi will sometimes lose connection, but if plug with LAN cable to desktop/laptop, the chances of losing connectivity is lower, unless the server is down. Same applies to using handphone and analog phone. Sometimes we do lose connection when using handphone, but we seldom lose connection using analog phone unless the other party is using handphone. The concept is almost the same. -

Yes, four is a little too less for the equipment. Maybe can ask the electrician to pull additional 1 or 2 set of electrical wires for 2 double gang socket? All conceal nicely already? -

We have 6 power sockets near the TV console area. I think should be sufficient, if not, will get extension plugs for the equipment. -

Don't assume workers have common sense. Actually they don't have common sense at all. It is better to inform your contractor the design you want, or lay it out and show them how you want the tiles to be laid.
