Hi there Finally decided to start a thread here for my upcoming new house! Having a hard time over the layout of the kitchen and the MBR. Hope can get some advice here...will try to load up the floorplan in the next post....

keltong i have been using corelle plates since 5 years ago....love it coz of its design, microwavable, and also its light and easy to manage. will be getting a full set for my new house...do let me know if you managed to find a cheaper source.

my ceramic tiles are just 8 yrs old, looks very new. but the house is 27 yrs old.... still undecided whether to hack or overlay..

hi can i ask something? i realised that the insides of all your carpentry is darker laminate instead of those normal white pvc...did u specially request for it? paid extra for it? or given foc by ID?

anybody else has experience with Design channel? Kindly share your comments on whether the workmanship is good. So far, I m pretty happy with their design and service...

hi just to share that my agent also from era...i have also told him that i will only pay him after the 2nd appt, when i get the money..coz he screwed up everything...make me homeless and penniless....so there is no way i can pay him on 1st appt.... I have actually had a mutual agreement drafted out...and got him to sign and acknowledged, just in case the company decides to charge me 2% interest.

hi florabliss i have also just bought a 5i at 118 sqm...initially, my budget was also 30k, but after getting quotations, it would be more realistic to set my budget at about 40 - 50k, depending on how much frills i want. i will be redoing everything, except rewiring and changing of the pipes.

the technical officer says if the original floorplan shows a sitting pan and the owner changed it to squatting, then we can hack. anyway, will leave that to my ID once I confirm one...

i was quoted 3850 for mit sys 4 (inverter) from gain city. was told that that is the only system 4 i can use for my 5I point blk due to the 8.5 amp. is this a good price? wanted to buy non-inverter but the sales exec say dun have any for me..

just went to my new place last night. asked the owner and she say she was the one who installed the squatting toilet...original was sitting..thank god... so now confirmed can hack....

a ID firm quoted me 380 to change the old rubbish chute to S/S

hi skywolf i was also quoted rates for excess areas..... my package as the $15,888.. have to top up: change laminated flooring to parquet - $2250 additional bathroom wall tiles - $280 additional kitchen wall tiles - $620 additional kitchen cabinets - 500 something like this...initially was pretty hopeful of ideal house..but now maybe not....

this idea sounds good..hmm...will most probably go for this idea if hacking is not approved. quite true....just hope we can hack that step off...real ugly... just received sms from my agent that i can visit the unit again next tues nite. will take pics if allowed..

hi max dun think can level with the step coz i we are required to maintain a min height in the toilet? sigh..no waiting to go to seller's house to take another look. and hopefully take a picture...but seller still haven get back on when we can pop by...

hi my resale flat's common toilet has a squating toilet bowl (seen in some shopping malls' toilets, 1 big step above the ground). I understand from one reno contractor that it is not possible to hack that step to level the ground to install the sitting toilet bowl. which means, i will be installing my sitting toilet bowl right on top of a step, which is very inconvenient for kids and elderly. I have called hdb, was advised that if my current floor plan shows a sitting toilet bowl, this means that the squating bowl was installed by the previous owners, thus it would not be original and can be hacked to level it up. Just wondering how true it is coz i was some floor plans with sitting toilet bowls indicated, however, in actual, it is a squating toilet (which means the floor plan is not accurate). anyone has any comments or advise for this situation? I am very disturbed by what the reno contractor says... !!

babytan iu m looking to get the keys sometime in mid/late apr and start my reno... same as u, I will be homeless too!..coz reno for my flat will take abt 2 months..and i will need to hand over my flat sometime in mid-late may..and most probably my reno will be completed only in mid june... my dogs will also be homeless.. i have already gotten a quote from ideal house...now witing for other firms to revise their quotes, then see how...my reno cost will come up to abt 40k min..

hi the installer told me that there is no need to hack the ceramic floors to lay the parquet. In fact, it is better to overlay as it is more even. whereas some ids told me that it is a must to hack the flooring, do cement screeding , so the parquet can be laid. anyone can tell me which is the right lay to pay parquet? the ceramic floors are abt 8 yrs old.. appreciate any advise here.

i paid 46k COV for a west coast 5 room point blk. and sold my 4 rm BP flat at 45k COV...

got my quote..still over 40k...guess most probably the rate is abt there...

my ID is melvin, nice guy kept ot his promise to come up with the quote on the 3rd day...sent me the quote at 1 am and sms me to inform me... he only quoted me 1 package (15888), then the rest, is individual items. The 20 feet kitchen cabinet is FOC nia... anyway, more quotes are coming in....shall compare first before i start bargaining.
